Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kahako paced back and forth in the middle of the street. She had been pacing for the better half of the hour, and the reason was quite silly. To be completely honest, she had no idea how to go about finding a particular ANBU. And that was what was wrong with the entire situation. Other than the fact that she was looking for an ANBU (Which was drown right silly because it was their distinct duty NOT to be found), she was looking for a male ANBU. To top it off, it was very late in the evening. Very, very late. But she couldn’t get off of her shift a moment earlier, and she had another long shift the next day. If she just went to the barracks and asked to speak with him at this time, anyone in their right mind would be thinking… wrong things. The thought made her blush furiously and stop pacing only to huff.

“What is there to worry about, Kahako?” She asked herself out loud. “So he’s male, so he’s… a very cute male. He’s also you’re PATIENT and probably your SENIOR. And besides,” she said looking forward determinedly at no body in particular, “You honestly need help from the best.”

Silence surrounded her for a second as she REALLY thought about what she was planning to do. Her mind went back to the thought of being alone in Ayumu’s room… or… house. Alone... with him… “uuurgh!!!” she said, rubbing her hair in serious frustration, muttering. “You see naked people on a daily basis, Kahako, and you have an issue with going to a boy’s house? You a doctor for Raiden’s sake, pull yourself together!” Anybody who was still on the street had long since started to ignore the girl. Shinobi were odd folk anyway. Some would even say messed in the head.

Tomo was returning to his uncle's home after a long day of training in the forest. He had mastered quite a few things today, and he was ready for a nice rest. Tomo repositioned the fedora on his head. His hair was slowly growing out so his blue roots now showed through the blonde mass on his head. That was part of the reason Tomo decided to start wearing the hat, so he didn't have to constantly dye his roots every week or so. As Tomo walked down the semi-busy streets, he saw someone vaguely familiar. It was Kahako, a past classmate. It had been a while since they talked, mainly because she was a medical ninja in training while Tomo had chosen the main branch route. And since Tomo's specialties were ranged fighting and charisma, he rarely needed to make trips to the hospital. Tomo decided it would be nice to catch up with her. He had always found her level-headedness a nice personality trait. Most girls were too flighty. However, soon after thinking this, Tomo caught the snippets of dialogue that Kahako was broadcasting to the streets. He was a bit surprised to hear that she was having boy troubles, or maybe man troubles considering the one she spoke of sounded to be her senior. But Tomo had to smile and shake his head as Kahako stated firmly that she saw naked people on a daily basis, and he felt that now was as good a time as any to interject.

Tomo walked up right behind Kahako and whispered in her ear, using a voice that might be considered sexual. "You haven't seen me naked yet. Maybe that's your problem?" Tomo jumped back, just in case Kahako's ninja training caused her to naturally retaliate. If she did turn around, Tomo would give her a playful smile with a wink. It was time to test just how flighty Kahako had become over their years apart.

As warm breath grazed across her ear, Kahako’s mind betrayed her in the worst way possible. Downright every dirty thought she could have in the span of 3.5 seconds about Ayumu being naked rushed through her mind in a series of pictures, slow motion videos, and steamy anime shower clips. Normally Kahako would have grabbed whomever was behind her, flip them over her shoulder, and made sure they were down for the count. However, the mini R-rated film going through her mind severely hampered her movements. As she tried to reign in her torrent of emotions, she was frozen to the spot.

Like a child caught in the cookie jar, she slowly turned around blushing bright red with wide eyes as she caught sight the individual behind her. Instead of the shocking blue eyes and black hair she was expecting to see, she was greeted by a grinning (was that a sly grin, or was she just imagining things?) blonde with familiar grey eyes. Kahako didn’t know whether she should have been relieved that it wasn’t Ayumu or mortified that a stranger suggested in a sexual voice a special viewing.

Immediately turning, Kahako coughed her blush away and smiled apologetically at the boy before her. “I was talking out loud, wasn’t I. Sorry for disturbing you,” she said, hoping with every fiber of her being that the blonde boy would ignore what just transpired. Looking into his eyes again, she couldn’t help but notice that the boy looked exceedingly familiar. “Have… have you been in the hospital? You seem very familiar…” She couldn’t place where she had seen him before. The grey eyes stood out to her, but she had never seen the boy’s blonde hair and a fedora before. Thoughts of Ayumu and her predicament temporarily took a back seat as she tried to solve the mystery before her.

To no surprise, Kahako's reaction was of pure embarrassment. Her non-action did catch Tomo off guard, but he was more thankful than not considering she could probably pound him into the ground. Tomo's mind calculated the situation as Kahako coughed her blush away. Since she had so easily brushed off Tomo's implication, her previous embarrassment was not due to a random guy speaking in her ear. No, Tomo had done enough research over the years to know that she had been thinking of one person in particular, and Tomo was not that person. Tomo couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. Out of all the kunoichi he had met, Kahako had been the most promising partner.

Kahako statement clearly showed that she didn't recognize Tomo and his playful smile slipped into a frown. He had been working so hard to become popular and yet the one person he wouldn't have minded falling for him didn't even recognize who he was. Tomo tipped his hat as he looked to the ground. He lifted his head soon after and his smile was back. Well, maybe this means I have a chance yet. Kahako was clever, so turning this into a game seemed like something that would draw her in. Tomo cleared his throat before beginning to speak.
"Kahako my dear,
It pains me to hear,
That my face is so easily forgotten.
But my blonde hair is new,
And no longer blue,
So here's a hint, my sister is rotten."

When finished, Tomo looked to Kahako, hoping that she didn't hate riddles.

Kahako caught the frown of the boy before he hid his face with his fedora. ‘Did I say something wrong?’ she thought, clearly confused. She was certain she hadn’t met any blonde boys that were a similar age to her. Well, none outside of Zaku, and he sure as hell wouldn’t suggest himself in any state of undress publically. Well…. for all she knew he wouldn’t. For all she hoped, he wouldn’t. One person was more than enough in her honesty opinion. However, before she could even utter her apology, it was as if the boy before her bounced back from a punch to the stomach.

Of all the things that Kahako would expect from the blonde boy, literally speaking to her in riddles was not one of them. It took her a second to process what he said before her mind restarted again. “A riddle, huh…” she said. A slow smirk played across her face as she put her hands on her hips. Kahako loved challenges, and a riddle was just another challenge. It was as if this boy had known her their entire lives.

She closed her eyes for a second, going through her memories of everyone she ever knew. It took a while but a wavering memory of a person with blue hair and panda ears quickly came to mind. Two of them in fact. Kahako opened her eyes in surprise, but before she blurted the first thought that came to her mind she had an idea. She crossed her arms and smirked. Two can play at this game.

The boy’s hair once blue,
Has now a gold hue,
In a class that the Kage arranged,
I remember your name,
But you’ve made this a game,
Tell me first. My… how you have changed!
<i>
</i>

Kahako was quite proud at the speed in which she came up with her counter riddle. She would hope that he would understand that it in fact was a riddle, and figure out what she was wanting from him. If he did not answer her riddle right, or understand what she wanted from him then she would consider this her victory.

Tomo was slightly surprised when Kahako responded to his poem with a poem of her own. However, he was glad to see that the game would continue, and maybe this could turn into an interesting ritual between the two. Kahako would have quite the challenge since Tomo's work as an idol meant he practiced making rhymes on a daily basis. He returned her smirk with one of his own.
"Your memory's triumphant return,
Means you will learn,
That Mochizuki Tomo is my name.
Though my change is clear,
You may need a mirror,
For you too aren't exactly the same."

Now this was what Tomo missed. A woman who could stand her own against Tomo's wit. He often had to play the cheerful idol, and every once and a while he would play the fool to seem more "lovable" to his fans. Most women hate a know-it-all, so Tomo didn't often get to stretch his mind like this. Tomo continued to his next verse.
"Your flustered remark,
When you use to be stark,
Was a surprise for me to behold.
Who made you that way,
If you're willing to say,
Because I'm curious, truth be told."

Tomo wondered how long would this game last as he awaited Kahako's response.

All that could be seen moving across the rooftops of Kumogakure was something of a blur, landing on perhaps every other roof for the briefest moment before gliding through the air once again. If one were to have excellent eyesight, they could perhaps catch a glimpse of him as he paused momentarily on each rooftop to push off with his foot to reach the next. Ayumu was wearing a black turtleneck light sweater to combat the slight nip in the air that night. Strapped around his torso was a belt connected to the sheath that rested on his back, carrying a long sword. Matching the sweater, he also wore black pants which had various straps around his legs holding weapon pouches for utility. To top it all off he wore a mask, recognizable as an ANBU mask to the knowledgeable. The difference was that the mask was black, unlike the common ANBU mask. If he was also an orphan and vigilante, one might expect him to say he was the Night, but his parents were both alive and his criminal busting antics were all sanctioned by the village.

Ayumu scanned the streets while moving over the rooftops, keeping an eye out for any trouble, as it was often to be found at this time of night thanks to the increased consumption of alcohol after the sun went down. He had been doing a bit of patrolling, wanting to get out of his office, but after an uneventful night thus far, he was ready to return and had called out one of the regulars to pick up this area. Still, it didn't hurt to keep an eye out on the way back to the Sileo. It was exactly this which allowed him to spy a familiar face. Kahako, the curious girl that Ayumu had known for a while now and was interested in as a friend, as far as he knew. But while he was a good shinobi, he was dense in other areas like your classic anime boy. Stopping on a rooftop darkened by shadow, Ayumu looked around cautiously to ensure he was not being watched and then placed his right hand on the mask. After a moment, the mask begin to fade away like paper being shred to pieces in water.

A moment before he was going to drop in to greet her, he noticed that she was already having a conversation with someone. The younger teenager was blond, fairly short, and a bit effeminate. He seemed dressed stylishly, leaving Ayumu to wonder if he was headed somewhere. A date, perhaps. 'Wait,' Ayumu thought, crouching down at the edge of the roof and watching closely. Could the two of them be on a date? For some reason, this didn't sit well with Ayumu, though he lacked the sense to understand why. He could just hear them, thanks to his skill in eavesdropping. Was the boy reciting poetry to her? He was talking about somebody making her flustered. Was he referring to himself? Ayumu chewed on his lower lip subconsciously, waiting to hear more.

Again, Kahako was surprised at how effortlessly Tomo returned her riddle. She wondered if Tomo spent his life reading and practicing literature, which was quite odd of a boy of their age and profession. However, she wasn't all that happy that he was asking her about the person making her so flustered. Red colored her ears as she tried her best to keep her cool. She was quiet for a second before she sighed. No mattered what happened, when she thought about Ayumu, her mind went from being sharp as a tack to a jumbled mess. She looked down before she looked back up at Tomo with a sheepish grin.

I've fallen to a tight situation
That requires some moral evaluation
For I am looking for a male this late at night
And to ask others of his location might not seem right.
So I've set out in hopes to find Kogami Ayumu
A master of stealth, as he is ANBU.

The tinge of red on her ears grew as she admitted that she was looking for Ayumu late at night, and once again she kept having issues meeting Tomo in the eye. Kahako knew she had feelings for Ayumu, but there was a multitude of reasons why she would never act on them. She knew that eventually, if she kept her distance, her crush would devolve into that of respect. At least, that was what she hoped would happen. There was a smaller part of her that she refused to listen to that admitted otherwise.

Tomo had to laugh at Kahako's girly reaction. It was odd to see such a strong maiden getting flustered over a member of the opposite gender. However, who could blame her? Tomo had seen the ANBU before while the young man was off duty. He was certainly good-looking, Tomo couldn't deny it. And glasses, boy that ANBU could sport a pair of glasses. There of course was a twinge of jealous in Tomo, knowing that THE Kogami Ayumu was the one Kahako was infatuated with. Tomo had never had a strong desire to be with a woman, but it was disheartening to know that should he want to be with a smart, strong woman, that men like Kogami would be the competition.

But such was life. You win some, you lose some. But that wasn't meaning Tomo was going to give up. Interactions were everything. If he made a strong enough impression, even someone like Tomo could land a caught. So the genin shook off his doubts and continued their game.
"The man you seek,
is by no means weak,
Where he'd be, I couldn't say.
For he moves like the wind,
and cannot be pinned,
But you're smart, you'll find a way."

Tomo continued, giving Kahako a knowing smile.
"Your dilemma is clear,
The rumors you fear,
Of you meeting him so late at night.
Well don't shed a tear,
For Tomo is here,
To escort you, it seems only right."

Yes, Tomo would stay with Kahako while she spoke with Kogami. Tomo wasn't dense like most young men. He knew the signs of a crush, and Kahako was showing all of them. However, Tomo didn't know Kogami's intentions towards Kahako. It was possible that Kahako's feelings wouldn't be reciprocated. A meeting with Kogami would tell Tomo if he had a chance with Kahako or not.

Listening closely, Ayumu was beginning to get used to the background noise and picking out their voices from it. Kahako began to respond to the boy, in what seemed to be a poem as well. 'Looking for a male this late at night?!' he thought as he heard it. There was no other way one could interpret that, right? Of course, he quickly realized that he had jumped to exactly the same conclusion she was worried others would. 'But why is she looking for me?' he wondered. He went to stroke his chin in thought, but the mask blocked him to his chagrin. Perhaps if he creeped a little bit longer, he would find out. And so creep Ayumu did. Tomo now began his response poem that they were exchanging, as Ayumu had figured out by now.
They wondered about Ayumu and where he might be.
If they simply looked up, they then might see,
But as an ANBU, Ayumu wouldn't be so easy to find.
He wanted to hear more, so he would continue to hide
And eavesdrop on what secrets, in Tomo, Kahako might confide.
For now their search would be fruitless, he hoped they wouldn't mind.

Ayumu wasn't ready to reveal himself yet.
To learn more about Kahako, this might be his best bet.
While they enjoyed exchanging rhymes for fun,
They might give up secrets in which Ayumu was interested,
While hopefully his understanding of their words wouldn't be twisted,
As across the rooftops, through the night, in pursuit, he would run.

OoC: I wanted to try >.> if I did it right, awesome. If not... well at least you can have a good laugh at my expense! Essentially, Ayumu's gonna remain hidden, follow, and eavesdrop for a bit!

As Tomo laughed, the blush did rise higher,
And even a pout expressed her small ire.
Since she was young, Kahako knew restraint.
And yet here she was three shades from a faint!

'But my issue's resolved!'<i></i> as now she did think,
For a male by her side, none others would blink,
twice at her actions and no scandal here;
Tomo had saved her from a most horrid fear.

In truth, she did like the man with the blue eyes,
But love, she knew, was not for their lives
And so she would hope it would turn to respect
Hide her heart now, keep emotions well kept.

But what of their game? Should she end it all there?
She did not like losing, as all were aware.
But poems did not limit to a rhyme or a scheme,
Through she preferred a true rhyme, there were many a thing

And poetry and prose are the rules of the game.
'I hope you keep up, and others the same.'<i></i>
She spun a small spin, and her smile was true
With her escort, she would find Ayumu.

"Why thank you Tomo,
I am graced with your presence
Let's enjoy this walk."
