Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Another afternoon where Ri was still asleep, ignoring his usual duties as a shinobi. He knew that continually doing this would always end in him being scolded, and then his own frustration after that. Every time he did anything he enjoyed it ended badly for him in fact.. Like how he recently fought in the arena. He enjoyed it at the time, then got caught up in the moment and made the stupid decision to blow himself up just to get to his opponent. Now, getting in trouble would certainly be the case if it wasn't for the fact that he was still in the hospital. Having been here for a few days now so that his arm could be properly treated. The only problem about being able to sleep in now, was that sleeping was all he had. Never would Ri have thought that he would get tired of sleeping, but when you get trapped in a bland room for several days with nothing to do, you'd be surprised at how much you learn about yourself.

It was time to take a break from sleeping, so sitting up, Ri looked around his room. "Yep, still just as boring as ever, no one's even visited." Knowing that he didn't really have any "friends", but instead had many acquaintances didn't make him think that he wouldn't get any visitors. So if boredom comes from not knowing anyone, why not get out there? Give it a shot. And even if he failed at sneaking out of the hospital, he'd still get to move around.

Crawling out of bed was the strangest sensation he had ever felt, well, not really. The strange thing was that he couldn't feel his hand pushing against the bed. "Heh, I guess it did destroy the nerves." He thought as he struggled to his feet. The pain from the fight could still be felt, but certainly wasn't as serious as it was immediately after that event. The only thing that Ri had to grab was his signature hat, this was a necessity since people most likely wouldn't even recognize him with out it, even his own family would struggle.

There was a slight limp to his stride as he exited the room, making sure there were no nurses or doctors that weren't to busy to notice him. It was actually surprisingly simple getting out, he had expected it to be much harder than it was. But even if it was almost disappointing how easy it was, it was invigorating to finally get some fresh air into his lungs, and it made him realize just how hungry he was. So his first stop was obvious.. The Plaza, that way he could aimlessly wander until he found a potentially good restaurant.

Most people that Ri passed gave him strange looks, probably due to how his outfit consisted of a patient's gown and a straw hat, so it didn't surprise him to much. It did worry him a little bit as he entered the Susukino District though, since his weaponry was confiscated to prevent further injury when he entered the hospital, his only options for self defense were burning them alive, burning them alive with lava, or hurling deadly rocks at them. Obviously, none of these things would be appreciated by any shinobi currently on guard, and he would get into more trouble than he needed to at the time. Thankfully, no one tried anything, and he managed to make it to the Plaza without much trouble.

Upon arrival, there was immediately a shop that caught his eye, even though it was fairly small. It was a restaurant that was currently selling what seemed like large pieces of meat for a special, and of course this would be the perfect way to get rid of his immense hunger. And so, he began his slow walk over to the place that would soon feed him, and watched as everyone moved out of his way with a slight smirk on his face.

MEAT’<i></i>

The otherwise calm, cool, and collected jounin was starving. A hefty training session with his retainer and trainer Karina had left him spent in more ways then one. She had bound the Yama heir in a basement cellar for nearly four days in an attempt to ‘harden his resolve and spirit.’ This of course wasn’t true, locking him up was punishment for suggesting that she spend the night in his bedroom. The young shinobi knew he was playing with fire but she was so good looking and he had learned to love getting under her skin. This was pushing it though. How could a woman who pledged her life to his family be able to get away with binding him and throwing him in what was essentially a dungeon!

It took four days for the man to convince her to let him out. For a few moments there he actually thought that he would die in that dark and dank room. Fear of being alone, or the discomfort of lying on the ground for over one hundred hours wasn’t the most difficult part. No, the lack of food and water got to him, Karina knew that food was his weakness and even further tortured him. She brought soups and sandwiches, roasts and fried fish and slowly devoured them while he watched. No amount of begging helped, it was only when he promised never to hit on her again that she let him out.

As he stumbled through the Dawnbringer’s Plaza the aristocrat searched high and low for some sustenance. The plaza wash lush with restaurants, cafes, and small eateries but Kobe knew exactly what he wanted. PROTEIN! A 72oz steak was a necessity. Barely noticing the man in a hospital gown and straw hat he neared the counter and placed his order. “One… Big… Steak… Challenge… with some cold sake. Please.” Placing his order in one exasperated breath he found a seat at the counter and waited for his meal. Maybe today would be the day he broke his record and finished the entire section of beef.

A man that looked far hungrier than him sat down at a table and ordered the largest meal on the places menu. This, of course, surprised Ri. He knew small people could eat a lot, but that much into this small guy? He could only expect that from someone the size of the freakin table! Oh well, if he could afford something big, who's to say he couldn't afford another? Taking this chance that had been presented to him, he sat down at the same table and ordered the same thing he had, sake and all. When asked if he was old enough for sake, he answered, "Of course I am!" in the most believably deep and confident voice he could pull off.

Then something unexpected happened, the waitress that took the order stuck her notepad and pen under her arm, cupped her hands in front of her mouth, then shouted something that would make Ri regret his decision. "Come one, come all! These two are about to face off to see who gets a fantastic prize!" As if the simple statement that he apparently challenged the man at the table was unexpected, another waitress with a very large coin purse came out of the restaurant. The first waitress continued, "20,000 yen and a free meal!" As she finished her little act, a large crowd of people had crowded around the small restaurant.

Of course he'd get sucked into some advertisement.. "The loser will have to pay half of the yen reward, and pay for their meal as well, so I hope you both have a big appetite, cause we're starting soon!" This was going to suck.. Although his job as a shinobi, and his spending habits, allowed him to have enough to pay for half of the reward, that would still be a huge dent. Looking to the other man, he gave him a look that said, "I'm sorry.." or at least that's what he intended it to mean.

"So this will be.. Interesting." He said as the large slabs of meat were now being prepared for them. He's never tried eating so much before, but if he didn't want to lose a large chunk of his money, he had to win this. Hopefully the guy that he "challenged" didn't eat this on a regular basis, that would just mean he was guaranteed to be defeated by the poossible veteran.

His salivary glands had constricted just enough for a small pool of drool to develop in the back of his throat. His mind was focused on the challenge at hand, like a lion stalking a fawn he was ready to devour this gourmet cut of beef. Still staring forward with voided eyes the Yama heir heard the other man sit down beside him. If he wasn’t on the verge of death by starvation he may have voiced a disagreement with someone so young ordering such a large meal and sake to boot. Unfortunately at this point in time he was so consumed with replenishment he couldn’t waste a single ounce of energy on matters of right and wrong.

A commotion began building about them. Within mere moments the duo would be the center of a grand spectacle. He had tried to best this monstrosity of a meal in the past, and each time failed miserably, would this be his moment to shine? Or perhaps his counter part would ride in as the dark horse and take the glory. Maybe they would both explode from over eating? Only time would tell.

Half a cow was being prepared between them. Or at least that’s how it appeared. Two large men each carried a searing pile of flesh to their table. Two cups of sake were poured and a frosted jug of the liquid was placed between them. Turning to face his ‘opponent’ he still didn’t utter a sound. Instead Kobe sliced the first piece of steak, held it up between them, and then hungrily gobbled it off of the fork. This was the unofficial signal that basically meant Challenge Accepted!

At this point it was an all out battle to the death… Er… to a full stomach. Piece by piece the jounin began to systematically dissemble and ingest the deliciousness. In between exasperated bites he utter a few choice words. “Yama…<i></i> Munch Munch Munch “Kobe”

Speaking of dark horses, a couple of ponies enter into the restaurant and if that was not weird enough they both wore clothes. the first one was a had blue fur, which is not to unusual if you consider some of the hair colors humans are born with in this village. She wore a hat and cape decorated in stars which made her look like a magician or something to that effect. The other had grey fur but a red mane which was braided. She also wears a hoodie with holes for her ears to stick out and she had her earrings on her right ear. Normally these two would attract attention, but all eyes were on Kobe and Ri today.

Neither Ittai nor Kira really liked being here for the obvious reason; they didn't eat meat. It is almost ironic that such a place like this has the most delectable salads. It is because of this fact that they were regulars here. The waiters were not even phased my there entrance anymore. However to Ittai dismay they also tell the same joke, "Hey ladies why the long face?"

Ittai, the blue one, rolls her eyes before looking at the waiter and tells him, "Cuts the jokes and just get us the usual." She knew full well that would not stop him for he had millions of jokes ready for them. Each one as annoying as the next one. It it wasn't for the salads they would not even set foot in this place. Quickly the waiter heads of the prepare their food and it was then they noticed where everyone's attention was drawn to. These two shinobi was really chowing down and did that guy like just walk out of the hospital or something?

Somehow, Kobe lifting up a fork with meat on it was.. Cool. Ri didn't understand how, maybe it was that the sun was behind the man and made the spectacle a little more glorious, but it was still strange. The fact that he was awestruck by the sight meant that he also allowed his opponent to get a head start on him. Damn. Immediately picking up his utensils upon noticing that he allowed this to happen, he also heard the words that were muttered by him. " Was that supposed to be his name?" He thought as he shoved bite after bite into his mouth. "Guess I should state mine as well."

"Shita Rirakkusu." The sound of Ri's voice was a bit muffled by the immense amount of meat in his mouth, but he was sure he said it loud enough. The crowd was quiet, which wasn't surprising since it was just a steak eating competition, really wasn't to much to cheer about. Although the meat was some of the best Ri had ever had, he knew it would soon become a nightmare as he chewed his way through it. And surprisingly it wasn't yet, but it was hard to swallow, so it was sake time! Hopefully it's high quality, or- *pfffffft* *cough* *cough*

It was crap, at least to Ri it was crap. Even though he was young, he had a taste for sake, and this stuff just didn't cut it. Even worse, the bad sake caused him to spit up some meat to, and he was told that he'd be disqualified if he didn't eat it off the ground and table. Bastards, it's like they were trying to take money from a fourteen year old! But he was already to far into this to just give up now! A bit hesitantly at first, Ri began eating the pieces of meat off the ground until it was all in his stomach once more. Then back to eating he went.

He was nearly a quarter of the way into the steak when the ponies entered the restaurant, but he didn't notice them since he was far to focused in winning the contest. If he were to notice them however, he would be confused yet again, and give his opponent more even more ground than he already had. Of course he couldn't afford that. Well, technically he could but it would still make him be damn near broke.

What the hell…’ Thought the jounin as he shoved yummy morsel after yummy morsel of charred flesh into his mouth. Kobe was baffled that his “opponent” had actually eaten the spilled beef off of the ground, well that and baffled by the rather long name of the boy sitting beside him. Phonetically he sounded it out in his head, ‘Re-rack-ko-sou. That’s probably pretty hard to spell.’ The usually kind hearted Yama would usually have made a proper introduction and befriended his new acquaintance however his hunger was only twenty percent satisfied so instead he simply let out a loud,

***GRUNT***

It was his way of saying Hey what’s up, nice to met you. The blank stare across his face persisted, and his determination never waned until a rather unusual sight happened to appear. Not one but two ponies entered the establishment, both wearing clothing no less! This wasn’t the part that would force him to take a break from chewing however, it wasn’t until one spoke that he nearly lost control of his anal sphincter. “A talking horsey! Wow! Oh hey, hi horsey!”<i></i> With food nearly falling out of his mouth the jounin was now wide eyed and peering directly at the blue equine, almost forgetting about the competition at hand. ‘What does a talking horse taste like!?’ He sheepishly thought to himself.

Kira gives Ittai a look and she starts looking at herself. It was not until now that Ittai realizes she is still in equine form. After assuming this form for such a long period of time she has gotten use to it. "Oh thanks Kira. Sometimes I don't know where's my head at." She then transforms into a thirteen year old girl wearing a T-shirt and a pair of overalls as well as the hat and cape from before. It is somewhat unfortunate that Ittai was a low ranking shinobi and thus stuck with minor jobs like the one she just came form not so long ago. Her recent mission was being a entertainer at a five year old girl's birthday party. This was not an uncommon type of job for her and she had a bit of a talent for it. True such missions weren't that grand, but usually gets a free slice of cake out of the deal. The slice was in Kira's saddle bags, which was hidden underneath her hoodie. The two of them will enjoy it as a dessert and oh did it look delicious.

Ittai then takes off her hat and cape laying them on the back of a chair and then proceeds to sit in it. Soon there salads would arrive and they can begin to eat, but not before more horse jokes from the waiter. She really wish the guy would at least get some new material. Ittai and Kira eat delicately; not a scrap of food spilled out of there bowls as they ate. Ittai could not say the same for some others in the restaurant. Kira cringes at the sight of the man eating off the floor. "Indeed and they call you an animal." Ittai gets the feeling whatever hospital that man came form, he will soon be returning.

Kobe suddenly yelling about a talking horse was something that Ri thought would just be a distraction at first, but when he realized that his opponent was actually focused on something else, he had to look. But, since he looked back just as what used to be a horse turned back into a human, that was all he saw. Of course, the actual horse that was sitting beside the girl was still a sight to see considering how they were in a restaurant.. Looking back at Kobe with a , "are you crazy" kind of look, he resumed eating his steak. At this point, he was hardly even able to eat it, but there was only a quarter left of the once massive piece of meat. Well, his opponent was taking a break, so who's to say he can't as well.

Swallowing the last piece of meat he put in his mouth, Ri looked back at the horse, were they eating salad? This place sold salad? Interesting, he never would have though that a place with such a large selection of meat would actually have salad being served along with the meat. Now, Ri wasn't about to go question the two, mostly because he thought he'd get kicked by the horse, and that wouldn't be very fun. But he would ask Kobe to do this, and maybe he'd be disqualified for leaving the table!

"So, think we should go talk to the two of them? I'm a bit shy." A lie of course, he was never shy. He simply hoped that would be enough to convince his opponent to go talk to the "horsey" and maybe even get him disqualified. Ri would win 20,000 yen, and wouldn't have to worry about going broke. It would be the perfect situation for him!

Kobe was delirious. To those who knew the tall dark haired jounin his recent outburst would be seen as a complete break of character. The otherwise, polite, quiet, and reserved jounin must have been nearing insanity for him to speak out like that. The extra large portion of meat was sure to satisfy his appetite but it would take a few more hours until he fully felt like himself again. Shortly after calling out the odd talking pony it suddenly reverted back to a female. At almost the same time, the man with the long name, Ri-Ra he would call for short, suggested that the pair go over and speak to the horse duo. ‘Well I don’t see why we should go speak to them now, it was all a big lie, she’s not even a real horsey…<i></i> Kobe thought to himself as he made a sad face.

Maybe it was a combination of his delirium, sake, and otherwise kind demeanor that swayed him to agree with Rira. “Okay. Lets go.”</B><i></i> Taking another quick swig of his ice-cold sake he suddenly stood up and marched over. Within seconds the announcer yelled out, “And we have a winner be default folks! The young man in the funny hat and hospital gown takes it!”<i></i> Still looking at the young lady, Kobe cringed having forgot about the remaining beef on his plate. He had eaten though a good portion of it but should have known not to stand up until it was gone. “Fine you win Rira. Come talk to the horse people. I’ll pay for lunch but I want something in return. ”<i></i> Waving a hand he encouraged his opponent over.

Stepping over to the young lady and her pony friend Kobe spoke, <B>“Are you a real horse or are you a girl pretending to be one too?” He said directing his conversation to the horse with the grey fur and red mane.

Kira gives the man a look that said everything. It was like seriously how am I suppose to answer that. I'm a horse for heaven sake; I can't talk. Kira then glances over to Ittai for some help. "Yes she's a real horse." Ittai wasn't sure how likely the man would believe her statement. It would be hard to prove the fact. Kira definitely does not look like a normal horse by any means and in truth she is not. Kira is far smarter than any mere animal and she likes to go out of her way to prove it. Ittai reaches into her pocket and pulls out and ink bottle. She uncorks the bottle and slides it to Kira. She the gives her a piece of paper and a brush. "This should make conversation easier." Kira picks up the brush with her muzzle and writes on the paper

The guy fell for it, interesting... Well it seems he won, so he didn't have to eat until he exploded anymore. Standing up, Ri began walking over to the horse and little girl, just as he did so, the waitress announced, "Ohhhhhh no! So close, if only he hadn't stood up to! It seems no one gets the prize!" Damn, could've sworn that he wouldn't have to eat anymore after his opponent "gave up." Oh well, he didn't lose any money, so he was fine with it. As he reached the table where the three others were at, he looked at the horse writing a note. Damn, he had heard that horse were intelligent, but this intelligent? Since the note clearly wasn't meant for him, he began thinking about the meal again. Oh no, wouldn't they have to pay for it now? Or would it be okay to just leave after talking to these two?

"I think we still need to pay for the meal, what do you want to do? Ri said to Kobe. Looking to the two sitting down, he figured he should introduce himself instead of standing there awkwardly. "Hi there, I'm Ri, nice to meet you." He said as he stuck his hand out, unaware of the fact he disgusted them with his desperate display. It was a do or pay situation, and he could barely afford that ridiculous price they named, so he had to do so he wouldn't have to pay.

Kobe watched with delight as the real horse began to write him a note. If this truly was a member of equine species and not another little girl playing princess and ponies they it was truly a remarkable animal. The jounin had read of highly intelligent animals in the past but this was a sight to see. Before he could express his amazement with the odd pony's ability to write Ri moved over to their position and introduced himself. “Don’t worry about the check Rira, I’ll pick up the tab. Well so long as you agree to give me that rice hat.”</B><i></i> It was a small price to pay for the value of their meal but would the other man take the deal. Kobe had appreciated the craftsmanship of the hat and, while he could buy himself one, it be of great value if it would come his way in the form of a gift.

After Rirakkusu made his introductions to the horse due Kobe once again smiled and smoke. “In fact for interrupting your meal I’d like to buy your lunch as well, if you’ll allow it.”<i></i> He wasn’t flaunting his families money he was simply acting as a gentleman should. At this point his grogginess and delirium had begun to wear off and the awkwardness of the situation began to set it. Being a kind and polite man he would roll with however the encounter would go however was at a loss at what exactly he was doing there to begin with. To try and break the ice he spoke again, "So why do you walk around looking like a pony?"<i></i> and speaking to Rirakkusu, <B>"And whats with your outfit?" Sometimes in order to keep attention off ones self its better to be the one asking the questions.

Greetings I am Kira

Wrote the pony towards Ri's introduction. "My name is Ittai and I just came back from a mission." She takes the wizard like hat and cape from the chair she laid it on and presented it to Kobe as proof of her words. "I was entertaining a little girls fifth birthday party. After a magic show, me and Kira did pony rides. Not the most glamorous mission but it pays the bills in which case we accept you offer to pay ours." Kobe then asks a question she too was wondering about but did not have the nerve to ask it. Both Kira and Ittai stared at Ri awaiting the answer to why he was dressed in such a fashion.

Ri felt like he was put on the spot, which he was, but it was his own fault for sneaking out of the hospital without trying to find his clothes first. Looking to the three of them, he sighed and answered, "Well, I was bored as hell in my hospital room, so I snuck out. And before you ask why I was hospitalized, this is why." He said, raising his right hand. The skin appeared wrinkly and a bit darker than the rest of his body, since the burn had made it this way. A bit unsightly, but the fight certainly was fun." He added, hinting at how such a thing happened.

And thanks for taking care of the bill Kobe, I wouldn't be able to afford that." A lie, he had enough for the meal itself, he just didn't want to lose any money. "By the way, just call me Ri, no need to add the ra at the end of it." Ri said as he sat down, they would likely be talking to them for a bit, and his legs wouldn't last long enough to stand the whole time.

Ponies + children + birthday parties = missions. Kobe had guessed that his upbringing had afforded him certain luxuries and permissions that other families didn’t have but he never thought it would save him from the ridicule of having to perform for children! As Ittai finished her sentence the jounin made a face of absolute dread. It wasn’t that he didn’t like children, on the contrary actually, he loved kids. However having to entertain a gaggle of pre-teens by prancing around as a magician… no thanks. He was too prideful for that, and couldn’t subject himself to that sort of embarrassment. “Ittai-kun it’s a pleasure to meet you. You are a better person then I, I couldn’t handle a bunch of sugar crazed children. Oh and Kira it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well.”<i></i> He didn’t want to seem like a snob and forget about the grey pony.

RI as he would now be known made his own introductions. One had to wonder about someone who would sneak out of a hospital with wounds that were not yet healed. The rule abiding Yama heir would himself attempt to do everything the doctor ordered to get back to one hundred percent health before making way out of a hospital, but hey who was he to judge. “Ri it is then. Oh and that must have been quite the skirmish. Should we sit?”<i></i> He grabbed himself a nearby chair following Ri’s actions of sitting down.

Still a bit groggy he continued to speak. “Do you all come here often? They serve the best meats here. That with some cold sake goes along way after a day of training.”<i></i> Was he rambling? Maybe he was rambling? He couldn’t notice and had motioned for the waitress to bring the left over sake form his table.

Ittai was starting to thinks she should take this man back to the hospital immediately however a patient does have the right to refuse treatment. So at the very least she should leave to inform the staff of his departure. By the sound of it he did not follow regular procedure for signing one's self out of the hospital. The medical staff is probably in a panic right now because he's missing and did not properly check out. With a sigh Ittai gets up from her seat, "Well with that bit of news I should tend to my duties as MiT. I'll get your belongings sent to the front desk. Just tell the receptions your there to pick them up." Ittai and the pony then head out the door towards the hospital.

Ri looked a little worried when the woman left to have has his things sent to the front desk. This would mean that he'd have to go through the troubles of apologizing to everyone for making them worry, and that'd just be a pain. But he was in a no position to stop him, that would likely just cause a scene that's even more annoying than needing to apologize. "Thanks, I suppose.." He said as she departed. Looking to Kobe after he had mentioned the fight in the arena, Ri thought of this as a chance to actually tell some stories. Was this what it could be like if he fought some more? He'd actually have some stories to tell and he could become popular. Though if it didn't appeal to women it wouldn't really matter.. Either way, he'd have to try and become famous from fighting in the colosseum enough.

"You interested in hearing about the fight? Like I said, the only reason I have the wound is because of some stupid choice I made." He reached for the bottle containing sake, then remembered what it had done to him before and quickly stopped himself. Damn habits, it's been a long time since the last time he had needed to restrain himself from drinking sake when it was right in front of him. Maybe he would try and order a better bottle? No, then Kobe may realize that he could have payed for his own meal without needing to ask.

"And if you have any, I may be interested in hearing some of your stories as well. It seems we have some time to ourselves, so we might as well talk instead of sitting here awkwardly." Kobe seemed to be a shinobi himself, if not then he was certainly no push over, there had to be some interesting stories he has to tell. And Ri certainly doesn't want to go back to the hospital right now, it would be way to much of a pain to deal with while he's still digesting his food. And while he's still trying to recover on his own...
