Hikaru arrived at the forest clearing, a bag slung over her shoulder and many things running through her head at once. The day before, she had posted a notice outside of the Academy asking for a training partner for a practice spar- her last one had kind of been interrupted by an unusual series of events that led to her promotion to Genin. Now that she was no longer a student at the Academy, any semblance of battle experience would be important. Her headband was an interesting new weight on her forehead- it fit comfortably, holding her to her own standards as well as those of her village whenever she put it on.
The clearing had taken some time to find, but it was the perfect place for a spar like she had in mind: the dense forest snaked around the circle of clear ground, setting boundaries quite nicely. Hikaru set down her bag, searching through it for a moment to pull out a headset, for emergencies- she didn’t want to be caught in the middle of the Forest of Death without some way to call for help if she or her partner got seriously injured. Hopefully it wouldn’t need to be used. Although this spar would be quite a bit more serious than the one before, they wouldn’t be doing enough damage to knock each other out.
Hikaru stood up, swinging the bag back over her shoulders, and waited. She gazed up at the clouds during this spare moment, wondering…
