Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"Finally."

The students would hear their sensei's voice before they saw anything different. It seemed to appear from all around them simultaneously. As they all stood and waited for the man to appear, the scene around them slowly melted away. The big tree in the middle was the last to leave. It began to droop from the top of its branches and melt away into nothingness. The entire world around them seemed to be falling apart at the seems. However, the forest had disappeared and in its place was a wide open, grassy field. The whole spectacle took a couple minutes, but Kyōshi thought it would add to the suspense of the reveal. As the trunk of the giant tree continued to melt away, the children would slowly be able to see the red flag on top of a pole in the center of the field. Everything that they had experience was an illusion. The children were actually standing in the center of the huge field, with just a few trees making up the 'path' they had walked down in their illusion. Kyōshi would appear from thin air and be leaning against the pole with the flag in front of the children. He would look fairly exhausted, but be able to compose himself well.

"I was hoping you kids would figure it out. You see, since the moment I vanished, you had all been under the influence of a genjutsu. The tree, the forest, even the rocks were something that I made you see. It is very important for a shinobi to know when he or she is being deceived, just as you all found out today. The point of this class was to learn about genjutsu, so I am going to go on a bit of a lecture, so stay with me. Genjutsu is based on the manipulation of an opponent's chakra flow to their brain. If I use my techniques to alter that flow, I can manipulate their senses. There are roughly four types of manipulation a genjutsu user can do. He can alter a person's vision, as I had done to you. He can play with sounds, making a person hear things that may or may not actually be there. He can mess with the way a person experiences the world. This could make their weapon seem extraordinarily hot, forcing the person to disarm, or even make the person feel as if he had been turned to stone. The final manipulation a person can perform messes with the target's emotions or willpower. This could make a person lazier, slow a person's perception of the world around him, or render the target unable to differentiate between friend or foe." Kyōshi took a drag of his almost-burned-out cigarette, giving time for his speech to sink in. "You see, shinobi rely on altering an environment to their advantage. This can be done through ninjutsu, which physically changes the landscape around them, or genjutsu, which makes their opponent think that certain events are taking place that may not actually be. Of the three big technique subsets, genjutsu is the most deceptive, and in my opinion, the nastiest. Altering someone's mind can be cruel, and if done correctly, very hard to perceive. Genjutsu specialists are very treasured in the shinobi military forces. So remember, kids: Always keep your wits about you. If you feel like something is off, it most likely is. Shinobi are dangerously deceptive people, and you do not want to be caught on the wrong side of a genjutsu, it will put you at a severe disadvantage. Shall we head back to the town and maybe grab some lunch? It's about that time. Don't worry, I'll foot the bill."

And with that, Kyōshi grabbed his flag from the pole. He then rolled out a scroll, formed a few handseals, and sealed the pole away into the scroll. If there were any takers on lunch, he would walk with them back to town. He had a hankering for some good barbecued pork at the moment.

Good job, everyone.
You all passed. Post in here for your rewards.
If you want, we can continue and RP out a lunch. If not, that's fine as well.

"Man, where is it?! I thought it was here." He thought as he continued his search, until Yukiko said something that might shocking. "Huh?! A GENJUTSU?!" He was so shocked, that he fell off from the "tree" which he barely landed as he recovered from it. "Now that I think about it, I did missed sensei mentioning a field instead of the forest. Man, I should have seen that coming." He was the only one who didn't noticed the Genjutsu at the end before Yukiko mentioned it as he slapped himself in embarrassment. Heck, he thought of this whole class was teamwork and missions.

However, Sumāto-sensei did gave them a short lecture about deception and Genjutsu itself. If that was a real mission, he might be an easy target since he was easily fooled by the Genjutsu. But if Yukiko and the others didn't mentioned it on time, he would have been a goner. The next one he learned was that a ninja can use their environment to their advantage as Ninjutsu can alter it while Genjutsu can create illusions of them. When his instructor told them that the Genjutsu ninjas are completely treasured in the military, Yuu knew it was an important aspect of being a ninja, which was to see and create illusions. With that said, he knew what he had to do next and that was to work on his Genjutsu.

But since he was still embarrassed about not seeing through the Genjutsu, he thought that a lunch with his instructor might help him out of his mistake. "Yes, please. A barbecue sounds nice..."

Kai heard Kyōshi-sensei's voice seemingly all around him before the gentsutsu began to melt away. Everything around him slowly melted away until finally the big tree went too. The tree melted away to reveal the very red flag they saw before the challenge began. It was hung on a pole where the illusionary big tree had been. When it was all cleared, they were actually standing in a grassy field, and Kyōshi-sensei appeared from thin air and leaned against the flag pole.

Kyōshi-sensei explained that everything they had seen in there was a giant genjutsu. He then went on to explain the point of this class was to teach them about Genjutsu and gave a short lecture on it. Genjutsu wasn't usually one of Kai's strong points so he appreciated the lesson here. Included with it, he heard that along with Genjutsu making the opponent think the environment has changed, Ninjutsu can physically alter the environment to their advantage as well. Now that was a little more in Kai's alley. He would have to love working on that, the little Ninjutsu elementalist. He then heard that Genjutsu ninja are highly treasured in the military. Kai thought about it and decided to stick with Ninjutsu, but he would have to keep his wits about him and not get caught on the wrong side of of genjutsu like Kyōshi-sensei said. When the lecture was finished, Kyōshi-sensei offered to take them to lunch back in town. "Yes. Lunch sounds good right now!" Kai accepted.

Yukiko looked around as Kyōshi-sensei's voice echoed arond them. The forest began to disappear, the large tree included. They were slowly shown the real area around them, the big tree fading last of all. In the place of the tree, a pole stood, sensei's flag from earlier attached to the top. When the forest had completely disappeared, she turned in place looking at the grassy field around them. She turned back to the pole as Kyōshi-sensei appeared next to it, and leaned against it.

Kyōshi-sensei began speaking, and started by saying that they had been in a giant genjutsu, starting the moment he vanished the first time. Yukiko cursed herself for not realising sooner, but wasn't too worried about it. Sensei continued on to explain the importance of genjutsu. Yukiko was qite interested in it, taking most of what he said to memory. Sensei mentioned ninjutsu once, though she shrgged it off soon after. That would be a handy skill, but it wasn't something she was truly interested in. She heard sensei say that genjutsu ninja are highly treasured in the military, and she took note of it. Genjutsu, thanks to this lesson and others from her father, was something she wanted to become good at, eventually. She would achieve that goal at some point, and it wasn't something she'd give up on easiliy. Kyōshi-sensei finished his lecture and offered to take them to lunch, stating he'd foot the bill. Both the boys agreed, and because she was now starving, she decided to join them. "Great! I could do with some food." She said, joining the boys and Kyōshi-sensei.

Hiroko was very proud of herself when Kyōshi-sensei had announced that they were, indeed, in a genjutsu. Then all of her surroundings looked like it was melting away, until they were left in a big open field with a flag on a pole that was where the big tree was. Hiroko looked around at the grassy field and when she turned back she saw Kyōshi-sensei propped up against the pole.

'I did it! I really did it!' Hiroko's thoughts were full of praise until Kyōshi-sensei's voice invaded her thoughts. She then started paying attention to her sensei's speech. He was saying how a genjutsu can manipulate your vision, emotions, sounds, and even mess with the way they experience the world. Noting that a genjutsu user is very well treasured in the shinobi military force, she listened to the end of her sensei's speech. Then something else caught her attention. Food. Hiroko was starving! When Kyōshi-sensei mentioned he'd pay she jumped at the opportunity to eat some food. She could always eat. "Y-Yes please sensei." She said joining with the others for some lunch.
