The faces of the rock structure was beneath her feet as Soku landed with a grunt taking a seat on top of the Hokage Rock that was revered and respected by many. Beneath her, the sprawling villages, houses and structures that made up the village loomed out at her reminding her of the hundreds of memories that had been built here. This was a routine she hadn't gotten to do in a while but it did good to take a breather every now and then.
Recent events had caused her to appreciate this village more than anything, her eyes wandered to the Phoneix Gate where the construction platforms were still visible as villagers worked to repair the damaged portions, a somber reminder of the battle that had afflicted this village in more ways than one. She closed her eyes for a moment recalling the way that..monster had waltzed in slaughtering with a skill and a ease that could only be described as inhumane.
Soku remembered being handled like a puppet left to scrabble in the dirt held up by her own sword cutting into her, it was almost as if the shinobi wanted her to feel it, feel the failure.
There was also the matter of Daisuke, her fists curling into fists at the thought. "We haven't forgotten about you, we're coming soon. Just hang on..just hang on." The Sennin told herself knowing how it easy it must be for her to say. Only the deities above knew best what he was going through but Soku had sworn a promise to protect this village and not leave anyone behind, she would do good on that promise as the wind rippled through her black hair as she inhaled the scent of the village knowing it would be a while before she got to breathe this air again.
Sunagakure no Sato was awaiting them and preparations were being made, Soku knew there was a very real chance the risk of the assignment that was being undertaken but it was a necessary one, perhaps that was why she had been going on more of these personal walks to commit this village to memory in the off chance that she breathed her last in foreign lands.
"That would certainly be something, eh Konoha?" Soku said talking out loud.
