Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Ame has seen the mission poster and was immediately interested. She had never been on any type of mission before and this was the perfect place to start. But now, as she stood in her apartment in the traditional kunoichi gear, her messenger back swapped out just this one for a canvas backpack, and the goggles in gloves she had borrowed from a neighbor stuffed in the bag, she began to worry.

The post had required the signed permission of a parent of guardian. Ame didn’t have either of those. But seeing that it was Megumi in charge, someone she knew a little bit about, she hoped she would let her by without it. Just in case, she pulled out a piece of paper and wrote a quick permission note, signing it with her own signature at the bottom. If anything, she was her own guardian. So this was the best she could get.

Folding up the note and putting it into her weapons pouch, she left the apartment and set out for the designated meeting area. She had written down the coordinates carefully before leaving the announcement board, not wanting to get anything wrong and end up missing the mission.

As she approached the area, she already saw Megumi standing there, alone still, waiting for everyone else to show up. At least she hoped others would show up. Ame raised a hand in a small wave towards the raven, giving a small greeting.

Quickly she pulled out the piece of paper from her weapons pouch and handed it to the girl in front of her, hoping it would be just good enough to get her through.

Standing by the phoenix gate. Megumi waited to see if any students were interested in gaining field and squad training and experience. The sun barely peek over the horizon as as only the gate guards and ninja setting off on a mission seemed to be up at this time. While no doubt that the merchant and workers were opening shop and making there way to work, she would wonder if the students could get up at such an early time.

Looking at the time it was the time that they were suppose. Seeing a sea blue haired girl as she gave a small wave and greeted her. Megumi was not surprised that Ame would show up, she was ambitious and always wanted to learn. Taking the paper as she handed it to her, Megumi looked it over and placed it in her pocket. “ Where are you gloves and eyewear”. While she knew that Ame did not have much funds to work with, she was surprised and felt slightly guilty when Ame presented them to her however she did not show it. Nodding and giving Ame the okay, the girl would get no special treatment, just because she knew her. “ Alright will be waiting for ten more minutes for the rest”. Keeping a cold and professional tone and expression, Megumi kept watch for others that would show up for the mission.

Cutting it close ten other students appeared. Megumi would ask for their permission slips and gear. Those that did not have the requirements were sent away. Looking at the five students that passed the first part. Including Ame there were three boys and two girls. Looking at the papers Megumi would call out their last names. “ Uchiha Hiromasa”. A young boy with black hair and eyes would raise his hand. He wore a form fitting blue shinobi outfit with the Uchiha clan symbol on it. “ Yoshi Machi”, the other girl would jump up with a smile and yell present. Looking at the white and peach swirled haired girl and her gleeful smile. Machi would look down and go quiet. Hiromasa and the other white eyed and short spiky black haired boy looked at her as if she was dead weight. “ Hyuga Yuchi”, The other boy that looked at her raised his hand. Looking at the boys stare, she had a good feeling about him. “ Yoshihiro Ikeuchi” The brown haired boy with golden eyes and fair features would be a lady killer when he was older. Megumi would then look to Ame, “ Hayashi Ame”.

“Now that you all know each other let’s start the befing”. Megumi would hand out five dossiers to Ame and have her pass them around to the others. When they would flip past the cover they would see a map of the village with the areas where the traps were placed and a legend stating what kind of trap it was. “ Starting from the left side of the entrance, we will be checking and performing maintenance on the traps labeled on the map. The dots in black are not to be tampered with as they are lined with jutsu and genjutsu. The dots in white are ward and are not to be tampered with. Red are projectiles, Blue are trip wires, orange are mines and explosives”. As Megumi would continue her briefing a few other students would arrive. Paying them no mind she would continue. “ Memorize the placement and type, as after this briefing the files are to be destroyed”. One of the students that were late would speak out. Megumi would give him a deadly serious glare, “ What time is it”? The boy and the group would not want to answer as they knew that they were well past the deadline. “ As you can see i have already finished attendance and moved on to the briefing, if you wanted to participate you should've followed the instructions on the posting”. Not giving the group anymore of her time she would continue. “ If you are separated from the group, stay where you are and we will come back for you. Also if you are unsure of what to do while on the mission don’t assume just ask”. Pulling out a scroll and activating it, six rucksacks would appear. “ Now take on and let’s get moving”. Megumi would slip her bag on her back. While no one had to carry anything, and she definitely did not have to put herself through her stipulation. Megumi would lead by example and work along side of her fellow shinobi instead of ordering them around.

Ame listened to Megumi closely, noting every little detail she spoke during the briefly. She quickly memorized each color on the map, what they meant, whether she should bother with them or not, the dangers that lay within them. She was not about to get herself killed or seriously injured due to her own negligence.

Per instruction, she grabbed one of the bags their mission leader motioned to. Picking one up, she realized they were a bit heavier than expected, but it was nothing she could not handle. She briefly wondered what on earth could be in them, but figured she would find out soon enough. With the rucksack firmly looped over her shoulder, she followed Megumi in her lead to the first trap.

Ame watched as the other students conversed. There was a lot more people than she thought would ever show up, but she supposed that was good for the new genin. Despite the freshness of her graduation, she still managed to round up a good group of people. Not to mention, this would be good experience for all of them. Silently, she followed along. She was not interested in making idle chat with the others. Some tried, but she simply brushed them off and kept moving, walking to the side of their leader.

Hearing a few goans from the addition of the rucksack. “ If you don’t like it you can leave remember this. I don’t need you, i am only doing this to help you gain experience and knowledge”. Seeing Ame take one, Megumi at least hap one person she could rely on.

The Uchiha and Hyuga boys seemed to understand and take their own bags, but the last two were a bit of an issue. The pretty boy outright refused to do any manual labor and the positive girl seemed to have trouble even moving with her bag on. “ Yoshi, what are you doing”? Megumi could see the teary eyed girl take small weighty steps as she tried her hardest to move with the group, unlike her posh counterpart. Putting the pretty boy’s bag back into her scroll and looking at him with an icy glare, “ You’re done”. Turning around and leaving the diva to pout and complain about the girl’s insane expectations.

Making her way over to Yoshi and looking at her. Watching her struggle and push herself to make her way over to the other three, Megumi did not want to fail her as she was trying. However it’s dangerous and if they were attack or she tripped under the weight while they traveled she could be seriously hurt or even killed.

Thinking about her village and the will of fire, Megumi would look to Machi’s three other companions and waited to see what they would do about their teammate’s struggle. Would they abandon their fellow shinobi or would they help their teammate and fellow leaf. Megumi wondered how strong the will of fire burned in her generation.

Ame almost couldn’t hold back the giggle bubbling in her throat at hearing Megumi lecturing the complaining students. While the rucksack was heavy, it wasn’t any heavier than things they may have to lift on a mission outside the gates. If they couldn’t handle this much, they could never be proper ninja. While her thoughts were harsh, she was completely serious about all of it.

Two of the boys, one with dark hair and the other with solid white eyes, easily took on the task in carrying a bag. They had no qualms or complaints as they moved with Megumi. The third boy and the girl other than herself, however, had much more issues. Ame couldn’t help rolling her eyes as Yoshi refused to even try. He appeared to have the strength to lift it no problem, but wouldn’t even lift a finger. She wondered if there was Nara blood running through his veins. She knew how lazy and laid back that family could be. The girl, well, at least she tried. She was having much difficult carrying the rucksack, deciding instead to drag it against the dirt and rocks of the ground. If she continued that way, the back would surely bust open. The cloth was sturdy, sure, but not enough to take a constant friction beating like that.

Unsurprisingly, Megumi resealed the third boy’s sack and told him to leave. She was right to do that, though. If he couldn’t follow such simple instructions, then this life just wasn’t meant for him. At least not yet. This was a simple yet dangerous mission. Megumi made that very clear. One mistake, or refusal to follow instructions clearly, could lead to disastrous effects.

Next, their raven leader walked up to the girl. Ame believe her name to be Machi? A pretty name, no doubt. One fit for a kunoichi of her appearance. She watched as Megumi just glared at the girl. She was obviously struggling but didn’t want to give up. Ame had to give her some credit.

While she really didn’t want to help the girl, she felt she had no choice. Many missions were time sensitive. While this particular mission was not necessarily one of them, it still had to be treated as such. Rolling her eyes she walked over to the small girl and hefted her rucksack onto her free shoulder.

Turning around to look at her, her eyes squinted in annoyance. “You should bulk up a bit before going on your next mission,” she commented rather coldly. “You could put her entire squad at stake if you aren’t strong enough.”

Without another word, she continued back to where she was standing before. She knew her shoulders would be aching tomorrow. But it would be a welcome pain, indeed, as it would show her hard work and effort.

“ Come on Yoshi, your team is waiting on you”. Machi’s eyes watered as she was trying her best as she dragged the bag. “ Pick it up, those bags have sensitive material in them. I am not going up in smoke with you if a random spark lits it up like a firecracker”. Machi looked like she was about to cry as she tried to lift the bag and carry it. Megumi would wait on her to give up or for one of her teammates to help her out. Thankfully the bags that the students carried only had rocks in them to reduce the risk of injury, but Megumi was not going to tell them that.

The two boys were watched their teammate crash and burn, they were not ready to become leaf shinobi. Under the will of fire we are all family and we do not abandon family. Megumi would start to grow impatient as neither one of her team seem to understand anything about being a leaf shinobi. Machi was the best of the worst while the rest seemed to leave her for dead.

Megumi was about to fail them all when a cold Ame, approached Machi and take her bag while offering the cold truth. As Ame was making her way back to the group, Megumi called out to her. “ Hayashi, who told you to take her bag”? While Megumi was testing the group, Ame still acted without orders. In a mission that could get you court martialed or killed.

Giving Machi a terrifying leer as she gestured her head over to the rest of the group. Letting a scared eep as she scurried over to the two boys who stayed out of it as they did not want any part of the smoking.

Moving toward Ame and invading her personal space. Megumi would be inches from the sea blue haired girl. “ Who told you that you could take Yoshi’s bag”? Megumi would give Ame a cold dead look as if she was an inconvenience. “ What did the paper ask for? Did it ask for a leader? Did it ask for you to do what you thought was right”? Megumi might seem as if she was mad at Ame, but she was testing the girl, to see if she stuck to her beliefs and showed the qualities of a leader. The leaf had enough followers, it needed leaders and thinkers for it to grow and thrive.

Ame was not used to this side of Megumi. She was so familiar with the harsh but helpful attitude of the raven that this new, almost aggressive tone shocked her. But she was not afraid to speak her mind. No, the paper had not asked for a leader. And that was not at all what Ame was attempting to do. She knew was not yet qualified to successfully lead a squad on a mission, but that didn’t mean she didn’t have the qualities to her.

Not flinching at the closeness, Ame responded. “No one told me to take it. But no matter the circumstances, teammates help each other,” she explained. “If this had been a life or death situation, she would have been the first to go. As her squad mate, that’s not something I could allow to happen.”

She kept eye contact with Megumi. She believe that what she was doing was right, no matter how troublesome it may be. Ame was familiar with the girl’s tricks and games, and she wasn’t about to fall for one this early in the game. If the two remaining boys were in the same predicament, she wouldn’t hesitate to do the same.

Adjusting the bags on her shoulders, she turned to speak again. “I do not wish to be the lead of this squad. But that does not mean that I will let a teammate fall behind.”

While in the academy, Ame had heard plenty of horror stories about new genin teams. Many squads lost members, some even sent back to the academy, all due to the team’s inability to work together. Despite the fact that she was not very fond of people, she sea haired girl was not about to become part of that statistic. Especially not even before she got a chance to graduate.
