Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Character's Physical Description
Katsuo stands at a mighty 6'2" and sports a well muscled physique from days of physical training and battle. Various scars cover his body itself though he has none on his face and has no particularly obvious ones which are easily seen. With shaggy dark green hair and green eyes, he is usually sporting a grin or smile of some kind even-- no, especially --when wrapped up in a fight. His wardrobe varies depending on function and necessity. Has a tattoo on the back of his right hand of a mitsudomoe in black ink as all Masashi warriors do. His wardrobe varies from day to day but he favors a large weighted coat that he carries around with him which is a bright white color.

By channeling the depths of his bloodline limit Katsuo is able to perform a process called Exaltation which transforms him into a vision of the Sunagakurian One King -- Primus. In this state his hair shortens slightly and stands on end while taking a distinctive golden color to it. Whatever clothing he is wearing at the time is transformed as well and becomes a golden raiment that hangs about his shoulders and his waist/legs. The air around him constantly crackles with energy while transformed and he projects an aura of burning heat that causes any moisture around him to sizzle and evaporate if it is not actively being maintained by a source of chakra or isn't of sufficient size.

Character's Mental Description:
Katsuo was raised on the old stories of valor and bravery of generations long past. He constantly chases the ideals of protecting humanity and the greater good set down by the men and women that made humanity's freedom of today a possibility. But even despite that, Katsuo can't deny that he enjoys fighting a great deal. His blood boils with anticipation at the promise of a challenging battle and is always ready to face the next challenge. Despite, or perhaps in spite, of his love of a good-natured brawl Katsuo is a gregarious individual that also loves a good party with others.

[spoilername="RP to swap contracts"]The surface of the tremendous underground body of water dubbed the Undersea by locals was completely still save for the wake created by the small fishing boat that Katsuo had boarded for passage. At the center of the Undersea was a rather sizeable island, shrouded in petrified trees of varying sizes and descriptions. At the heart of that island lay a circle of standing stones that was supposedly a sacred site for the people of Sunagakure. Legend had it that the One King had been laid to rest in a fortress of a warship that had then been sunk to the bottom of the Undersea and that this circle of stones was a place where the living could commune with the dead. Often times pilgrims to the standing stones claimed that they "felt" a presence and that their ancestors had come to give them wisdom in trying times of their lives.

Katsuo did not consider himself a religious man. He revered the spirits of his departed family to a point but did not take that reverence to the level of worship like some of his people did and he certainly did not regard Primus as the saintly half-god that some of the Masashi seemed to respect him as. In spite of that however he found himself now stepping off the plank of the fishing boat he had comissioned to take him to the island for the sole purpose of going to that place and seeking communion with his ancestors. If there were ever a time in his life when he needed a guiding word from them, it was this day.

With each step of his booted feet, Katsuo felt his body creak and ache. The pain wasn't as bad as it had been in the days following his choice to bring Suna back from the brink of demise but even walking was still a painful experience for him.

He had to admit as he walked that the island of... did this island even have a name? Katsuo couldn't recall ever having read one despite it's reasonable level of infamy with the more superstitious folks. His mind wandered as he walked, reflecting on the frozen beauty of the petrified forest all around him. It was a strange wonder to find in the Wind Country and especially so this far underground but given that it was situated upon an island in the middle of an underground sea perhaps it wasn't quite as far-fetched as it was occurring to him as.

Finally the worn trail that he followed opened up into a clearing which held the standing stones that Katsuo had been told about. There were seven of them in total surrounding a large, circular stone slab that was inlaid into the ground. Atop the slab was a smaller disc of stone that Katsuo might have described as resembling a table if not for it's bizarre size and lack of any sort of sitting arrangements. All around the elevated disc of stone lay wreaths of flowers and small bundles of food and material wealth-- things that people had left as offerings to their ancestors. There was no one else here at the time and as Katsuo approached he immediately felt a little silly for coming here at all. There was nothing to prove that the grave of the One King was even here in Sunagakure much less located beneath the surface of the Undersea and even if all of that were true what made him think that he could conjure the spirit of Primus himself?

With the steel of his boots clacking against the stone with each step, Katsuo examined each offering as he walked the circumference of the stone disk before coming to a stop and running his fingers along the frigid surface of the stone disk.

...and as he did, golden sparks flew from the previously unliving stone and quickly lanced up the length of Katsuo's arm filling his forearm and shoulder with a warmth that he had not felt in weeks. This was the power of the Spark of Primus. Instinctively pulling his hand back out of surprise and releasing the walking cane in his other hand, the bright light faded just as quickly as it had come and so too did the warmth in his fingertips and arm as the metal of his cane clattered to the ground.

But the pain was gone.

Looking down at his fingers with quick breaths of equal parts cautious excitement and trepidation, Katsuo realized that he was-- for the first time in weeks --standing without the cane that he had come to think of as an extension of his arm and without any pain in his body. After a heartbeat or two the pain slowly began to return and quickly Katsuo knelt down to retrieve his cane from the ground before he once more felt his body wither and force him to lean upon it once more. At the very least, that brief taste of power proved that there was something mystical about this place. The last time Katsuo had found himself in a situation like this had been when he'd used Tatsumasa to unlock the Diamond Throne and set himself into a challenge against a tremendous construct made of fulgurite that had been created by the First Men to test any future descendents of the Sunahoshi that wished to claim the Spark.

"Cant'... hurt to try, I guess." Mused Katsuo as he rolled his shoulder and allowed the ancient family sword Tatsumsa that was suspended on his back via a shoulder strap to drop forward where he caught it and held it out in front of him in preparation.

In order to draw the blade he would need both hands and for that he would need to release his cane and stand under his own mobility for a few moments. He'd done it plenty of times in the past but it would be a painful experience. Swallowing hard, Katsuo released a deep breath and then swiftly brought his right hand from the grip of the cane to the hilt of Tatsumasa and drew the gleaming "Sword of the King" in a flash of reflected light from the sun crystals that illuminated the underground chamber. Immediately as he struggled to stand under his own power he felt pain wrack his body and as he stumbled, Katsuo fought through the pain and held the sword out in front of him with the blade pointeded away from him and towards the center of the stone disk.

At first nothing happened and for a moment Katsuo felt his heart drop in disappointment but slowly at first the air around him filled with sparks of golden light that jumped up from the ground towards the outstretched blade of Tatsumasa before disappating into the light. The arcs of lightning continued for a time as Katsuo fought against his body's slow but inevitable betrayal of his willpower. He wanted to continue standing but his body grew weaker with every passing second, forcing Katsuo finally to a knee as sweat poured down his face. As his blade began to dip and the bolts of energy managed to reach it, the currents of gilded power touched the edge of Tatsumasa's silver steel and disappeared into it like a pebble beneath the surface of standing water... and then Katsuo began to feel it. The leather wrapping of Tatsumasa rapidly grew warm and once more he could feel the power of the spark flowing him to him and filling him with strength once more and allowing him to rise back up to his feet.

Standing once more, Katsuo looked about him and realized that it hadn't been until the blade of Tatsumasa had dipped low to the ground that it had begun to absorb the power from the standing stones and even then he could feel that there was much more power contained within the place he was standing yet to be released. Using the energy that he'd absorbed, Katsuo raised his foot and stepped up from the inlaid stone slab unto the stone table in front of him before quickly striding to the center of the disc and raising Tatsumasa up above his head with the point of it's blade directed towards the stone surface beneath his feet. He could already feel the power of the spark slipping through his fingers once more and there was no other solution that immediately occurred to him.

For the first time in his life, Katsuo made a decision based entirely on faith in something larger than him. He needed to believe that whatever this source of energy was that it could help him. That it could put him back together and give him the strength that he needed to be the leader that Sunagakure needed him to be. With a single motion, Katsuo fell to one knee and impaled the blade of Tatsumasa into the stone disc with surprising ease. The tip and blade of Tatsumasa penetrated deep into the stone with little resistance and what had previously been a light glow created by the spiritual energy escaping from the ground suddenly became a brilliant beacon.

Like sticking the edge of a butter knife into an electrical socket, Katsuo's body was flooded with the current of power that now escaped through the wound that he'd created in the stone and what had previously been a pleasant warmth was now an unbearable heat. Not unlike the sensation of what it had been like when he'd used the power of the spark to rejuvenate Suna, Katsuo felt the power burning through him but this time was different in nature. Previously he could feel himself being pulled apart in every direction from the exertion but this time it felt like the energy was filling him up and he was too small to contain it. Still he held fast his grip on Tatsumasa's hilt and challenged the savage current of energy that crashed into his body from heartbeat to heartbeat. In this moment there was only him and the spark and he refused to yield even if it killed him. He'd realized the moment that the tip of Tatsumasa's edge had slipped into the stone that this was a contest that, like the previous tests of his worthiness in the past, would either end with his demise or his transformation.

He would rise to the occasion and be uplifted or he would fall dead to the ground.

Spiders of raw power crawled their way up the steel of Tatsumasa's blade and crossed over unto Katsuo's forearms leaving scorch marks upon the silver surface of the armor that the Bishamonten Project engineers had created for him before sinking into the mass of his arm and joining with his chakra circulatory system. Rising from a kneeling position with a great deal of effort, Katsuo kept his hands on the hilt of Tatsumasa with each agonizing movement until he was fully standing once more at which point he withdrew the blade from the wound in the stone and allowed the unrestricted torrent of electrical discharge to wash over him. Pieces of steel and armor peeled away from his body as bolts of energy slammed into him from beneath and exited through his back before dissipating into the air behind him before finally Katsuo was no longer wearing an inch of steel anywhere on his now naked body.

With a roar which was equal parts venting of strain on his body and primal defiance of the hand that fate had dealt him, Katsuo felt the current finally give way and like that the light went out leaving him standing on top of the stone circle, smoke and steam rising from his rejuvenated skin. Each and every one of the many scars that Katsuo had earned over a long carrer of vicious battles and hard won victories had been burned away in crucible of inheriting the power of this place but what's more was the fact that he could stand entirely on his own and this time did not feel the sensation slipping from him.

He felt complete.

He felt whole.

And at last, you are finally ready to lead your people. Echoed the words of another through Katsuo's mind.

Looking down at the blade clutched in his hand in disbelief, Katsuo recognized the "sound" of that voice. It was the voice of the Spirit of Tatsumasa-- a knowledge spirit that had guided Katsuo to the first steps of his inheritance when he'd first come to Sunagakure. She had been the voice that had guided him to challenging the Diamond Throne for the Spark of Primus in the first place and it was she that had given him the knowledge of Exaltation in the first place.

Caliburn had been her name. Chosen by herself right before the battle with the Cabal. Katsuo had thought her destroyed when he'd undergone his first Exaltation as she'd appeared to him in a cryptic vision... and then had just been gone from him. She had been his partner and he'd always thought he'd let her down.

I am always with you, my king. I only needed some time to recover from the stress of your transformation. Sent Caliburn from within Tatsumasa. Still, you managed to find the next step on your path without my guidance. I would expect nothing less.

I'm glad you're okay. Katsuo sent back to her, getting a feel for the strange sensation of mental communication with the knowledge spirit once more.

I am more than okay.

Katsuo wasn't entirely sure what that meant but as the adrenaline of the moment faded and he slowly became aware once more of the fact that he was still standing on top of a stone disc completely nude in the middle of a petrified forest, his priority shifted to finding something to wear until he could get home.

Allow me. Sent Caliburn and as that thought touched Katsuo's mind a rush of energy flowed outwards from Tatsumasa and in a heartbeat Katsuo was clothed in a light yukata and a long haori adorned with the crest of the Sunahoshi Clan on the back and upon the left breast.

Tugging at the fabric in disbelief, Katsuo breathed a sigh of relief at the fact that he was no longer nude and hopped down from the stone disc to retrieve Tatsumasa's scabbard from the ground where he'd discarded it right before he'd engaged in the challenge to claim the power from this place.

I am ready to serve whenever you require. You need only call upon me.

I will, thanks Caliburn.

He felt a surge of warmth from the wrappings around Tatsumasa's grip as he returned the ancient sword to it's sheath and threw the strap over his shoulder once more. His boat ride was likely wondering what the crazy light show had been if it hadn't scared them off. He had a lot to think about in the coming days but right that second the only things he really wanted was a shower where he could stand under his own power and some quality time with his paramour Naganisa.

[spoilername="Custom Contract Summon - Caliburn"]Name: Caliburn the Living Lightning

Description:
Caliburn's physical form varies from moment to moment as she is a member of the Tsukumogami Contract and is able to manifest herself as various physical objects but the most pure expression of her physical form is a coursing current of golden lightning.

She is merged to the holy sword Tatsumasa and thus her essence is contained within. Where Tatsumasa goes, so too does Caliburn even though Tatsumasa is an inert object they are effectively one in the same.

Personality:
Caliburn was made to be a kingmaker. She exists to transform the person that she has chosen into the perfect king and as a result she constantly pushes her partner to cleave to the ideals of good kingship but also to chase their ambition and never be satisfied. In that way she can be obstinate and argumentative but only in cases where she feels that the course of action she prefers is the honest to goodness best choice for her master. Otherwise she is dutiful and loyal, speaking respectfully to her king and obeying him in all things unless she is faced with a situation where she is convinced her king's decision will ruin him.

History:
Long ago the first Kazekage inherited a treasure trove of power from the demi-god king Primus before his death. Fearing that such tremendous power might corrupt the morals of his descendants, Sunahoshi Nori hid that power away so that it might be claimed some day in the future if future Kazekages might need to call upon it to protect the village. Originally created as a simple knowledge spirit and imparted into the masterwork sword Tatsumasa without a name, Caliburn was tasked with choosing a bearer who might be worthy of inheriting the power of the One King and guiding them upon the journey to claiming it. Many generations passed until Tatsumasa-- "the sword of the king" --fell into the possession of the prodigal Sunahoshi heir Katsuo whom Caliburn sensed greatness in. Revealing herself to him, Caliburn set Katsuo on the path to claiming the first vestiges of the One King's power and in doing so was sent into dormancy by the force of his wielding that power. It was not until Katsuo unleashed another cache of power in an effort to heal himself from the consequences of his choices that Caliburn was rejuvenated and empowered into the Tsukumogami that she is now.[/size][/spoilername]
