Off to the west side of the hospital a bell rang from the speakers adorning the top of a tall building. It was the first warning que, meaning that those with the intent to learn and study the human body in detail only had another fifteen minutes to get to their class. All across the stone grounds leading up to a set of large double doors medical students in a rainbow of ages began to either scramble or calmly stride across the stones; depending on what year they were in. Usually it was the cocky first years that took their sweet time heading to the first class and no doubt that today would be like any other. There would be a handful of late students with poor excuses as they sundered up the small set of stairs to the doors. On this particular day of the new semester, however, was a terrible one to be late to class.
A seven foot tall giant of a man strode down the school halls like a devil was at his heels and his face registered high annoyance. His blonde hair was pulled back up into a bun, at least as much as he could get into it, and the three pens sticking out of it spelled ‘rushed and annoyed’. When Dr. Tama signed up to teach originally he had it in the mind to pass on his personal knowledge to a select group; preferably hand picked. Instead he was heading a class of a bunch of First Years who either had their head up their ass, was coerced into the field by family status, or had no idea what they were in for. To get anything like he wanted the scientist was now self-tasked with weeding out everyone he didn’t deem worthy of his knowledge or time.
The man stopped suddenly in his stride, turned to a seemingly random class door, and planted his large boot in the center to kick it right off the hinges. It shot across the class room to crash into a pile of glass and splinters to completely silence any of the talkative early birds. With an unsettling calm Tama stepped over the door’s threshold with his intent on the desk that headed the center of the class. Tapping his boot against the chair he rolled it back enough to flop down with an exasperated sigh. The scientist leaned deep back into his seat as his mis-matched eyes sharply scanned the room of students before him. His left hand pulled out a drawer of the desk to pull out a folder full of information about all the students he was here to lecture.
At first glance not a single person there caught his attention. No one seemed to give off any special blood lust or fear from his entrance, just stunned indifference so far. His eyes skipped away from the faces to the papers in the folder and quickly flipped through them. No extraordinary high scores, no special intents beyond a practitioner's license…it all felt so dull.
The bell rang loudly again setting off the doctor’s ire a little as he made a face upwards towards the speaker nestled in the corner of the room. With a quick glance to and from his papers to the class he had surmised that he was missing about three to four students. From there he began to count the seconds and after about thirty the first one came in. This one he let slide. However the two that came in after three minutes came face to face with a furious Ancient Hybrid who took his job far too seriously.
“Time?” Tama questioned them.
“Um…7:03?” one of the two replied. It didn’t take the scientist even two seconds to realize they were friends and no doubt were also the reason for each other’s tardiness.
“Both of you will receive negative marks today for class. Next time show up at the specified time or double negative marks will be given. The lesson today will be chapters 1-12. I suggest you use this suddenly large amount of free time to go and study before you collect anymore of my ire before the semester starts.”
Raising his hand up the doctor gripped the very air itself and slammed a fresh door made from an opaque barrier of chakra. Despite the substance the chakra made a solid connection with the wooden frame causing a loud bang to shut out the two males and the remaining late student. This show of cruelty was just but the first steps to weeding out the class. Already he could see some of those indifferent expressions turning towards familiar anger and outright fear. He could taste it. It drew a little smirk from the corner of his mouth as he flopped back into his chair, kicked his boots up on the desk, and spoke to his new class,
I’m going to be straight with you right now. I am not like your other, ‘kinder’, teachers. My entire goal of signing onto this program was to pass on my personal knowledge. However instead of being allowed to select who I want, I have to cut out my own diamonds. Welcome to hell kiddies. This is your first and only chance to get out with your GPA intact,“ his fingers on the right hand snapped and a small hole opened up in the door that would require some crawling to get through; as if the shame of being intimidated wasn’t enough. His sharp eyes watched close.
