The golden circle arose from the dark abyss and peered its head through the cloudy veil. It’s rays of yellow light, which had nurtured the plant life of the earth for eternity had only begun to bother the lazy teen resting under his sheets. The boy knew he had an obligation to be an agent of kumogakure, but he still desired another half hour of sleep. As the sun continued to shine brightly, his room became slowly illuminated. One might have expected a room filled with his hobbies and interests or at least certain items of comfort, but instead all that was shown was the bare minimum. A bed, a desk, a closet, a dresser, a nightstand, and a lamp. Gantetsu had been there for years, but he never really had a chance to come into his own. Today was going to be the day that he began to change himself for the better. While in the care of the kumo, Gantetsu was told when to eat, sleep, bathe, read, write, and attend class, but yesterday marked an important milestone. Gantetsu had taken his test and passed, thus making him a genin. Today was the beginning of the rest of his life. He was now deemed legally fit to live and thrive on his own. The thought didn’t fully sank in until this very morning. His former social worker had told him about his approved status and that he would receive a stipend for housing in the mail shortly before it was time to leave the academy behind.
Gantetsu, having wanted this for so long now, had already finished the planning stages and today was the day to execute everything. He had already packed up his belongings and had them shipped to the new place. Gantetsu had chosen to stay just one last night in his old academy dorm for nostalgia's sake. Alas, he rose up on his bed one last time and sighed heavily. He couldn’t help, but wonder if he was making the right decision. Ideas of failure and becoming homeless began to inundate his mind and a feeling of panic set in briefly. He felt that the only way to compensate for this feeling was to just go through with his plans. He got up, performed his hygiene routine, got dressed and headed down to the office to finish his discharge from the academy before heading over to his new place in the city. Arriving at his new spot, he waited for the delivery men to furnish his home with furniture that he picked out and once everything was assembled and in proper order, he rested in his bed and began to wonder about the future, but that was a problem for another day.
