Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Well, it doesn't take a genius, myself thusly included, to figure out that all my topics had "Kasuga" in the title somewhere.

If there was some form of trust, I could just copy-paste my saved Profile in here, sans all coding, for you to see what I had.

Can an admin bring back all the stuff Katsuga had beforehand?

Additionally I'd advise you to think which village you'd like to join now that you're back (mist and leaf are not valid at the moment, so you have Stone, Cloud or Mist to join - if you were ever missing you could join missing directly as well)

Well, I know of the Leaf revival effort, so I would like to see where it is going, before making a decision. And I will need to wait on Hibiki's reactivation, as his and my character are going to be linked; we have to decide together, where to go.

I am still going to post your profile from your old site.
Name: Kasuga
Age: 27
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 120 lbs
Body Frame: Androgynous
Gender: Unidentifiable
Date of Birth: Unknown
Blood Type: Unknown
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Red
Village: Konohagakure no Sato
Alignment: Chaotic
Rank: Anbu

Appearance:
Kasuga has always looked androgynous, to the point where anybody would believe that they were dealing with a female. Born male, during the time he was missing in action, Kasuga lost his gender completely. Sporting light blonde hair, which looks green under certain conditions of light and weather, and a slender effeminate body, Kasuga is the incarnation of a mysterious beauty that seems inapproachable. Having experienced unspeakable things, Kasuga seems to have turned mostly albino from the mental and physical stress.

History:
Soon after Kasuga woke up to notice that he was the only survivor in his squad, he realized that there was no hope for him to return to his village in glory, as he had hoped for. He was badly injured and barely able to move, had completely lost the orientation and did not know which direction Leaf was. Out in the wild, with the bare minimum on provisions, Kasuga was hopelessly stranded.

Of course, the land was dotted by small settlements and there he might meet some other villagers of the Leaf or even Ninja who could help him out. For now, however, he had to tend to his wounds and find a resting place, away from possible pursuers; his squad members had been killed almost instantly, which was proof of their combat prowess. Kasuga had known that he was the weakest in the team and would not make any attempt to fight the assailants; he would train and opt for a better chance to take revenge.

It was not before almost a week had passed that Kasuga finally found a tiny village deep in the forest. It had been built next to a clear mountain stream and was well-hidden from view in all directions. Considering the possibility that it was a minor Ninja village, the swordsman held his Katana at the ready but walked openly into the settlement. Feeling many eyes on him, Kasuga continued to walk until he found a bar; from the stares, he realized that it was a simple village of hunters and gatherers. From their clothes and behavior he deduced that they didn’t have any trading relationships with the outside world. It was no different inside the bar; all eyes turned to him when he entered, before going back to whatever they had been doing before. The sight was all-too familiar, since strangers usually garnered interest in the established population, but they were also shunned as bringers of possible negative change.

Trying to get as much information as he could, the swordsman had to realize that it was futile to ask for directions; most of these people had never even left the village unless it was for hunting in the surrounding forest. It was up to Kasuga to find his own way back home. During these times, the other personalities within the boy easily gained the upper hand; they would try to take over whenever he let his guard down. Usually during times of depression or desperation the stronger souls of Akogi and Kigurai – Greed and Pride – in his body would take over. This time it was no different, however, before the dam could break, Kasuga pulled his mind together and left the bar. Maybe he would stay here for a while and wait for possible search parties or even adventurers who travelled the land.

That while turned into two years, during which Kasuga slowly forgot about his hopes and started to lead a simple life – one just as simple as before, in the village of the Leaf – learning the village’s customs and helping in hunting. All the girls were enchanted by his appearance, but he never gave in to any advances; he knew if he would, Midara – Lust – would take his body and ruin his reputation. It was no different for any of the other souls, including Daki – Sloth - who only wanted to waste time away by merely existing. Considering this, he was still the best choice to give his body to, if he failed in keeping the others in check.

Ironically, Kasuga had to notice that his body had become a place for incarnations to gather and he was virtually no better than Midara, who was the incarnation of a whore. He knew that the only ones left to materialize were Wrath, Envy and Gluttony, although he had never had any emotions like the latter two.

Another year passed, during which the souls in his mind calmed down almost completely; maybe it was due to Kasuga’s young age that he was susceptible to all kinds of changes. Now he had reached the age of twenty, even though he didn’t look like it, and had matured greatly in his mind. He found himself able to accept the approaches of one village girl, who seemed to be most interested in him. However, only a few weeks later he had to realize that there was no hope for his soul; the girl had only been playing around with him and he saw her with another villager. As anger and envy raged through his mind, the place for two more souls to establish themselves in his body had been created. Ikari and Saiki – Wrath and Envy – announced themselves inside Kasuga’s head before instantly taking over and wreaking havoc on the village.

As if it was a bad joke, the last member of the seven simply joined in because of the vacuum inside Kasuga, opening a black hole on his chest which started to suck in the surrounding matter. Unable to keep his sanity, tears of black blood flowed down his cheeks, as all souls ravaged the original owner of the body and banished Kotaro – the Samurai spirit – from Kasuga’s body. Having robbed the final ally from him, the swordsman fell into deep desperation and left the body to the whims of the seven souls.

Within seconds his eyes became blood red and his hair turned almost white; the sudden shock of seven souls occupying one body at the same time destroyed gene sequences in his body and turned him into a different person entirely. Only his looks were reminiscent of what was once the boy called Kasuga.

It was not before the whole village had been erased from any possible maps that Kasuga was stopped; the timing of the wandering monk could not have been more ironically better. The monk sealed the whole on Kasuga’s chest and put him to sleep. It took almost a month before he awoke, his mind completely calm; he had fought the other seven souls and come to an understanding with them. He accepted their existence inside him, while they did the same with his soul; the mutual agreement had been reached after Kasuga had come to the conclusion that destroying his own body would subsequently lead to the destruction of the seven. As a Samurai – before his awakening – he was well capable of an act of self-destruction, as long as it was for the better of any situation.

Thus, from that moment on Kasuga referred to himself in the majestic plural, into which not only the number of souls factored but also the influence of Kigurai. The absolute serenity in Kasuga was comparable to that of an angel, despite the absolute darkness of his tainted soul. His black hole had swallowed his Katana “Legacy” and he took it as sign to leave the path of a Samurai; Kotaro was gone as well. His body had turned into a genderless being, in conjunction with his angelic features and demonic insides. With Gluttony sealed within him by the other souls and with the seals of the monk, Kasuga was reborn.

Asking the monk for directions, he learned the whereabouts of the Leaf, but heard of its state; Kasuga decided that it was not time to return yet. He would wander the lands and study other countries so that he could one day return with knowledge to the betterment of the village he would turn into his own one day. He trained his newly gained abilities from the fusion with the other souls and honed his skills for the day of his glorious return to the village that was the origin of his current powers.

Seven and a half years have passed since then..

Thank you. I'd like to know what exactly that gives me, money-wise as well as possibility-wise. I heard of the Leaf revival project, so I'd like to... know more about it. As in, what is the status of it.

Ok, I've decided to go to Cloud, since I can't reactivate/OCR into Mercenary, apparently. I'll do everything else in a bit, since it was based on this decision.

Yes, I will create a completely new character, actually. I just wanted to pull the attention to this thread, so that I could finally get started.

Hibiki, current username Kuro, will share a background story with my character, so he will post here after I write up my history.

Gender: Female
Character's Physical Description:
Ootsuki Senka appears smaller than her peers, despite her age of seventeen. When she died at the age of ten and her soul was able to possess her body again, she had only been barely 4'5" tall. Courtesy of Chakra control as well as an innate wish to live to see just another day, her body has a functioning blood circulation, even if exceptionally slow, and thus, clinically unhealthy, as well as possessing the bare minimum of metabolic activity, giving her an almost snow-white complexion and a low body temperature. Due to this, Senka's growth has been stunted and she did not develop much since her death, something that she learned to live with soon. Fortunately, she realized that the ingestion of certain lipids in food helped in the development of regions girls her age cared about. Unfortunately, the same was true for visually unfavorable regions. Ultimately, her secondary sexual characteristics remained underdeveloped in fear of being considered overweight.

It was largely due to her Chakra control that Senka was able to close all her wounds; if she had not, she would have continued to bleed out with the restarting of her blood circulation until there was nothing left inside her. However, while her circulatory system functioned again, her healing did not catch up quickly enough for all the gashes in her body, especially those on her face, to close up again. During the theoretically already futile treatment of her wounds, she was stitched together all over her body, but since the wounds did not close entirely, the sutures have to remain indefinitely, lest her fillings spill out. The same is true for the scars running across her cheeks, starting from her lips and ending at her molars, giving her a wide grin whenever she smiles. This allows her to stick weapons through her body in certain places without hurting herself, which can be used to conceal weapons and doubles as a party trick.

Senka's slow natural healing had taken exceptionally long to finally reconnect her broken bones, which included every single one in her fingers, arms and legs. Strangely, her torturers had not harmed her eyes, ears or ribs, even if certain cuts on her torso had reached her ribs and spine and chipped pieces away from them. Ironically, this increased her flexibility, so much that she can practically ball up to only one fourth her normally already small size.
Character's Mental Description:
Ootsuki Senka has a peace-loving, easy-going personality, while she never forgets grudges and will take revenge at all costs. Though not easily disturbed, angered or embarrassed, any outbreaks can be fatal for the ones who are its cause. Although she has been educated with a pacifist mindset, her very nature is that of vengeance; the sole reason she can remain alive is to someday see those who tormented and maimed her dead at her feet, of course not without having experienced a fate worse than her own.

Having lived secluded for a long time, she only knows, and therefore, trusts one person, her father-figure, mentor and only friend, Iwakajiya Kurogane. While she is of a curious personality, she never trusts people without personally ascertaining herself of the truth, giving her an abrasive nature to all who do not earn her respect. Despite or especially due to her scars, she has become very self-confident, courtesy of Kurogane's upbringing, as she does not care about people's opinions regarding her appearance. This allows her to talk to others as she is, with no need for feigning interest, goodwill or respect.
Character History:
The little Ootsuki Senka can remember from her time before meeting her savior rarely comes in other forms than repeated nightmares and visions of the gruesome events that would haunt her forever. Only few fragments of lush greenery and peaceful laughter in a long forgotten place of serenity remain, oftentimes immediately replaced by the flickering of infernal flames and the screams of tormented souls on the verge of breaking under the unbearable anguish inflicted upon them by formless demons.

In those fragments faceless people smile at Senka and pleasant but distorted voices grace her ears, and through those past interactions she was able to piece together the identity of various persons. Her parents as well as sibling were among them, but she is painfully unable to recall their features, the memories flaring up and fading at times. However, one recurring scene replays in her visions more often than any other; that of death and despair, when the sound of breaking wood is followed by shouts that turn into panicked screams and are ultimately silenced with the whirring sound of blades cutting through scorching air. The figures of her parents turn red and are replaced with rough faceless beings that approach her menacingly. The only thing that ever followed was a world of agony, at which point Senka usually wakes up, her already dead heart, kept alive through her will allone, beating faster than at any other time.

It is from those images that Senka can gather strength to carry on, despite knowing that her existence is a time bomb with a concealed counter, more likely to go off and consume her with every passing moment of her life. The only person she fully trusts is the savior who had found her broken, cut, bruised and abused body at the bottom of a ravine, bleeding out the little life she had left inside into the quickly forming stream from the relentless rain, threatening to wash away all traces of her existence.

Senka herself is only able to recall that she had felt neither pain nor fear, only coldness and loneliness in that moment. Her lungs had stopped drawing breath and life was quickly leaving her petite dying body, but she still clung onto it with every single one of the little remaining unscathed fibers of her being. Everything around her was silent, as her ears ceased to function and her blind eyes were unable to blink, as drops of ice-cold water assaulted them.

Just then, she could feel that something inside her gave out, and her soul separated from its vessel, wiping all thoughts and sensations from her mind. The only thing that remained was purity and nothingness, embracing her like a soft blanket. However, a darkness arose from within, tainting the moment with the ugliness of emotions; she still clung to life and an overwhelming desire for revenge against those responsible for her suffering. The nothingness was invaded by wafting blackness like ink in clear water, turning her very being night-colored. Then, she was back inside her shattered dead body, embracing the coldness and pain that assaulted her mind, with the same feeling as a scared child diving into the caress of its parents. She welcomed the sensation of her approaching death as it was proof that she was alive, proof that she could survive.

In those few moments, when she had actually died, Senka realized the frailty of life, gained strength in that knowledge and swore her very soul to revenge. She cursed those who had killed her, she cursed her parents for having left her alone, she cursed the village that had failed to protect her, but most of all she cursed herself from the depth of her being, her impotence, her weakness and her emotions. The pain of every single nerve in her body burning from the overload of sensations after returning to life reaffirmed her thoughts. In an attempt to show her resolve, she tried to move, crawl, turn over, sit up, walk, anything that could bring her even an inch closer to vendetta. However, everything she could do was to draw a single agonizing breath, feeling broken ribs stab into her battered lungs.

The pain was welcomed with the same longing as a thirsting person finding refreshment, every moment of it a testament of life. Even as her senses of vision and hearing did not return, she could taste blood, from the countless cuts inside her mouth as well as coughed up from her damaged insides. However, suddenly she could very clearly feel the existence of something foreign in her mouth; there was a tiny amount of blood that was not her own. A sudden shock ran through her brain and realization of an unknown origin flooded her thoughts, invaded every last bit of her consciousness until a simple command was formed: Curse.
Senka could feel something connecting, before it was gone forever, filling her with a sense of satisfaction deeper than anything else she had felt before. Even as she lay in the muddy stream that was steadily expanding and would soon drown her existence in its depths, an infinitely sinister smile, ripping open up to her molars, crept onto her cracked and cut lips. She knew that, despite her miserable and impotent state, her vengeance had taken the first step towards fruition. With the next breath she attempted, however, her exhilaration was once again replaced by pain, yet it was more welcome than ever before.

Her consciousness faded away as she could feel slightly heavier tremors than those caused by the downpour, approaching her, every vibration granting her another wave of pleasant anguish that whispered insidious words of survival.

An eternity passed until her mind returned to the material plane, her whole body stitched and bandaged, lying on a bed in an unfamiliar room. All sensation had left her body, except for an incredibly persistent itch on her nose, as if to mock her in her state of immobility. Then the knowledge that something irreversible had come to pass finally settled in and even the itch disappeared as if wiped away. Senka lay there, running all that had happened through her head and realizing that everything but her desire to live was a blurry mess.

She knew that everybody she had ever loved was no longer and that her body was in a state that did not allow for a normal life. However, the sensation she had felt clearly for only a split second told her that not everything was lost; her sole reason of existence was to exact revenge. Even as their identities were but faceless shadows before the backdrop of raging infernos, she was sure that they would one day be brought to justice under her own hands.

Those very hands were in bandages, every single one of her fingers in splints; the same was true for both her arms and her legs. Slowly, her feeling of touch returned and pain assaulted her from every fiber of her body, a sensation as bittersweet as the half-faded memories of better days. Her whole head was bandaged and she could feel stitches in her cheek. A soft collar kept her neck from bending and breaking under the weight of her head while stitches ran across her sloppily cut throat as well. She knew the same was true for her back, chest and sutures were holding together her stomach so that the intestines would not spill out. However, even in such a state, all Senka could think of was to survive and fight, kill, maim and avenge. Once again, a smile crept onto her face, hidden by the bandages, but she could feel something snap on her cheeks and realized that her body, which had died once, was no longer capable of properly healing.

Yet, her temporary death had given her insight into a different world; she knew of it and had begun her education a few years prior, even if she remembered none of it and solely relied on instincts. Thus, she could feel warmth welling up inside her stomach and flow throughout her body, in stark contrast to the coldness of her mortal remains. It reached her organs and increased their function to levels barely capable of sustaining life. She would heal, even if it would take an eternity.

That was when the door to the room was opened without warning and a gigantic man, covered in soot from head to toe, entered unannounced. He had long unkempt brown hair that seamlessly continued into a beard, and a dark shadow hung over his eyes, obscuring them from view. For an instant Senka wondered whether this man had properly disinfected himself before bandaging her, but she disregarded it as of no importance at this point; she had survived and would from now on, regardless of what physical harm befell her.

Strangely enough, something she finally noticed, when she tried to speak, was that her tormentors had neither broken any teeth, nor claimed her tongue, and her nose, ears and eyes were all intact. Ironically enough, they had left her with the most important senses to recognize them when she met them again, even if her memory remained hazy, possibly due to severe beatings and tumbling down a ravine after being thrown off a galloping horse, all of which she was absolutely sure of.

She noticed that she could not speak, both due to the fact that her mouth was bandaged shut and the swelling inside her throat. The man seemed to realize her attempt and just shook his head, his deep voice vibrating into her depths, as he told her his name and the condition he had found her in, as well as of the ill fate of the village she most likely hailed from. Iwakajiya Kurogane would be the name to forever remain in her memory, his presence henceforth her bastion of calm as the turbulences of the world around cease to affect her when she is with him.

Courtesy of Senka's practically dead body, it took more than a year for her to finally fully heal her broken bones with Chakra, even if the gashes all over her body did not reattach, forcing her to wear sutures and stitches on all but the smallest cuts. Those include the scars on her cheeks, which leave her with an eerie wide grin whenever she spoke; considering it detrimental to her effect on people and the fact that surely few would take her seriously if she always smiled, she wears a surgical mask to cover it completely.

For the following six years, Kurogane, her father figure, mentor and friend taught her all he knew about inner and outer control, honing her skills as a fighter, despite the fact that he was not affiliated with any hidden village and no longer meddled in outside affairs other than those directly affecting their livelihood. While he had great mental fortitude and physical strength, Senka was susceptible to mood swings and had to expend Chakra to even stay on her feet for longer periods of time. However, an innate ability to manipulate the mind, possibly an indicator to her identity, was something Kurogane could never have taught her. While her body appeared frail, she could withstand great punishment as she barely bled when cut, due to her slow heart activity, and her joints were exceptionally flexible as a byproduct of having passed rigor mortis once. Unlikely as it seemed, due to her exceptional control of Chakra, she was able to utilize short bursts of strength, speed, agility and dexterity, whenever necessary. Running around at high speeds and jumping up and down trees posed no problem to her, even if for the most time of the day she had to sit down and rest like a broken doll, with an eerie appearance to match the characteristics thereof.

Kurogane was aware of her vengeful desires and did not condone them, but Senka saw understanding in him, as if he had a past experience eliciting similar thoughts. Then again, it could have been her one-sided idea of her general patience with her, as her mind forever remains in the bog of this dark, never-ending circle of grief. She learned from him that peace is best, and over the years she has been affected to the degree at which she became hard to anger and even harder to challenge to fights. Ultimately, revenge remains her goal, but collateral damage was something she wanted to avoid, all according to and courtesy of Kurogane's peaceful teachings.

They lived in a cottage at the edge of a mountain, in which her mentor mined for ores and coal to sell as a peddler in nearby villages. It was a peaceful existence, and even as Senka wished for it to continue forever, she always harbored the dark feelings that had, in a different sense than usual, saved her life. This daily routine was interrupted when Kurogane once came home with plans to move to a hidden village. Shortly after, unsure of how it had happened so quickly, she sat on a mountain of luggage, carried on a wooden pack frame on the back of her mentor. Due to her weak constitution, even walking longer distances was challenging for Senka, which had turned sitting on an either empty or fully packed backpack, carried by Kurogane, a commonplace occurrence. Even as she lamented the fact that their daily lives were being disturbed and she watched the cottage disappear behind tree lines as they walked away from it, she was secretly happy at the possibilities their journey entailed.

Thus, they entered the village hidden in the clouds, almost seven years after she had been found by a coincidentally passing reclusive miner whom she called her one and only family.

Also, I kind of already wrote my character's whole life story, and the obvious part where she obtained Jashinism... might be hard to completely paraphrase it especially for an application. I'm out of practice really...

Justu Mastery Swaps: 126 overall mastered Jutsu. That equals up to 126 swaps. I'm sure I don't need to write every single exact swap, considering some of them don't even exist anymore.

Keeping the following 46:

NINJUTSU

TAIJUTSU

GENJUTSU

This leaves 80 swaps for the following exactly 80 Jutsu.

Swaps:

NINJUTSU

TAIJUTSU

GENJUTSU

I apologize for the lateness but I want to let you know we are looking at your history. It is interesting and still want to digest it before we come with our questions. Let us know if we are taking too long.

I would like to know whether I am currently wasting my time writing up a Jashinist application or not. Since I've been told somewhere that my history cannot combine my Core Ability and Kinjutsu application, so I've begun my endeavor to write a compelling story from a different angle that describes all that happened with my character.

Of course, if you say you want to read it, regardless of whether I need to write a standalone application for my Kinjutsu or not, I am happy to finish it. Just not tonight, it's 2:22 AM.

We do not anticipate any issues with the History, and I'm personally much in favor of reading it, if the History is any indication of it's quality. Feel free to continue working on it. We hope to inform you about the History matter as swiftly as possible!

There is nothing wrong with writing the app with your history as one. I apologize for the misconstruance. Can you give use a day to discuss the details of your app. I just need to clarify with the others on your character's rebirth. I am assuming you were not dead for over a minute but you were in between life and death. Just making sure you are not a zombie :p

Well... her heart stopped, which is the GW application part, as her soul leaves her body for a moment. Then, she returns into it due to finding strength in her Jashinist powers, ICly not exactly RPed as such, but rather as a blend of GW and Jashinist, becoming a vengeful spirit possessing her own body. She is neither a Zombie nor a reborn, although her appearance might suggest so.

Furthermore, I present you a Jashinist application I made just in case (if it's tl;dr, just use the one in the history, but if the one in the history is insufficient, refer to this):
A beautiful morning welcomed Shingen, when the first sunrays of the day crept over the mountain range and illuminated his east-facing bedroom. Today was just like any other, in the service of the Daimyo of Fire Country, as he quickly readied himself for the roll call that would soon be conducted in the castle. Even after rising in the ranks from a mere peasant to a Samurai, life was all but enjoyment, as everybody was expected to lay down their lives for their master.

Then again, Shingen had never been ordered to do more than bureaucracy and patrolling for the Daimyo's castle. It would not be different for today, the day that followed and possibly every single day until he retired from active duty. While he regretted that his name would not go down in history, as the chance for any ordinary mortal to distinguish himself was nonexistent in a country protected by a Ninja village, there was also relief at the prospect of a long, prosperous and peaceful life.

Most of the day was spent with checking tributes coming from various parts of Fire Country, as well as making his rounds within the castle while greeting everybody he met respectfully; after all, he was of the lowest rank of Samurai in the Daimyo's service and could only rise further through diligence and industriousness. When he was off duty in the afternoon, he would go down into town and spend his hard-earned money on drinking with his colleagues; "socializing" was the euphemism for the ritual of lower-ranked officials ingratiating themselves with those that could lead to an improvement of their statuses.

On such a day, as any other, Shingen found himself in the company of his contemporaries, attending to seniors and beneficiaries of nepotism, pouring alcohol and showering them with flatteries, both in excessive quantities. He knew that his present survival as well as future welfare depended on how good an actor he was in such situations.

However, today was different; he spotted an unfamiliar customer, a woman in a beautiful Kimono featuring a carp motif, her beautiful black hair tied in a high ponytail as she coquettishly exposed just enough of her neck to not be considered vulgar. To Shingen, she symbolized perfection, and his eyes could not leave her gracious form, as she readied herself for departure. Apparently his attention for the lady had been noticed by his colleagues, as well as those he should have been attending to. Soon, he found himself enticed by all his companions to dare take a step towards the lady and greet her, some cheering him on wholeheartedly while others snickering in glee at the more likely prospect of his utter failure.

Thus, few were left unsurprised at the fact that not only was Shingen successful at initiating a conversation, but also proficient at keeping it alive and running smoothly with not a single awkward moments to dampen the mood. Very soon, he found himself inviting her to a drink at another table, and even to his own surprise she consented to share one drink with him. Forgotten was that she had attempted to leave the restaurant only moments earlier, as the two spent the rest of the evening with idle gossiping. His companions had had the decency to leave them alone and had already departed.

In their conversation the woman revealed her name to be Otsuyu, and that she was on a solitary journey to find work, as her parents had passed not long ago, leaving her in debt and evicted from her birthplace. Moved by her story, Shingen swore to help her and offered a bed for the night, as she had only just earlier, on the bill of the restaurant, spent the little money she had been left with. As if destined, the two loved each other that night and in the heat of the moment they pledged their eternal devotion to each other, planning to marry once she found work.

Moreover, as if luck was mimicking the phrase "when it rains, it pours", the very next morning Shingen received orders to sortie, finally granting him a chance to distinguish himself on the field of battle. He was the best student of the Yasunari style of dual-wielding Wakizashi, a badge of honor in the world of Samurai, and would be undefeated regardless of any enemies to come. It just so happened that a senior told him they would engage an enemy weakened by internal strife; they would pose no danger and be but necks waiting to be severed.

However, when he heard from a colleague that they would set forth to attack Fire Country's own Ninja village, Shingen was shaken to the core. Even if he was a master with the Wakizashi and could hold his own against the strongest of his peers, he had heard the inhuman feats performed by Ninja. Only the previous night had he found a woman to call his own, an existence to illuminate the path he was supposed to walk henceforth. Would it now all have been in vain? A fleeting encounter to be drowned by the tidings of civil war?

Yet, when the Daimyo's troops marched, heading for the village hidden in the leaf, Shingen's composure was that of a person walking towards certain victory. He disallowed himself from harboring any doubts, lest those doubts became a fatal burden on the battlefield; he would return to see his would-be wife again, he would see their children and grandchildren. This campaign was but a chance for him to provide Otsuyu with a better future together.

Nobody expected the sight they were greeted with as they arrived in the village hidden in the leaf late that evening. Flames reached high into the sky, scorching the very heavens, as the streets were painted red with the blood of former allies who had turned on each other for reasons unknown. Shingen took in the hellish sight of war, for the first time since he had been born, learning of the atrocity that armed strife was. His companions were equally shocked, but their commander rallied the army's morale, as he called for an all-out, merciless attack to eradicate all villagers, regardless of age and gender.

Resistance against the punitive forces under the Daimyo was scarce as only few capable combatants were left. Against the onslaught of seasoned veterans and prodigious newcomers in superior numbers, even Ninja were unable to hold their ground for long. The initial skirmish soon turned into an one-sided massacre, as respectable Samurai followed the call for blood and became disfigured by human desires. Thus, the Daimyo's once honorable conquest became senseless pillaging, as the inferno engulfed the village like a veil of shame, hiding the atrocities man was able to inflict upon their own kind.

Amidst all this, Shingen, his mind clear from the still lingering memory of his future wife, witnessed his colleagues, men he had called his friends and respected like his own brothers, devolve into wild beasts driven by instincts. He was pulled along by the flow of soldiers as they begun slaughtering innocent villagers hiding in their houses. His comrade in arms, a man he would entrust his life to, broke down the door of an extensive mansion, finding a man shielding a woman and a girl that had barely reached her teens. The two adults were cut down on the spot before they could regain their composure, when Shingen had to watch in horror as his friend grabbed the screaming little girl by her neck and flung her over his shoulder, silencing her in the process. "Fun for later," he would say, invoking a heavy rumbling deep inside Shingen's body as he convulsed from repulsion.

More Samurai gathered and congratulated his friend for finding the little girl and asking for lease on her. Never had Shingen been this aggravated and disgusted in his entire life, as he forced down the contents of his stomach and seized his friend's collar, imploring him to stop the madness. His shouts were interrupted by an armored fist, belonging to another colleague, making contact with his face. He could feel something rupturing inside his mouth as blood spurted from his lips, onto his friend and the girl he carried. They had become monsters, devoid of human reason, and he was the one that no longer belonged in their midst. Utter repugnance forced him to leave behind the hellish scene of the village, as in the now master-less house the Samurai began to engage in recreational and pleasant activities of the most unholy kind.

The little girl had lost consciousness when she had been grabbed by the neck and lifted up, the next time waking up when something wet and hot hit her face. Reflexively, she licked her lips and tasted blood, instantly returning her to her senses. However, her unconsciousness would have been a blessing upon the integrity of her soul and spirit, as the only voice of reason had been ousted by the pack of wolves she had found herself in the middle of. And as she found herself surrounded by unknown faces bearing demonic expressions, it dawned upon her that from that moment on living would equal suffering and torment.

The next time she regained consciousness, a large muscular man, stark naked, was leaning over her and exposed a red tongue right before her eyes. The girl's body was numb, but she could feel something uncomfortable assaulting her senses, before pain ran through her whole body. She felt as if she would split in two, and attempted weak and futile resistance by trying to push the man away with her powerless arms. However, a sword appeared from nowhere and stabbed right through both of her tiny hands, into the Tatami mat underneath, fixing her into a position that emphasized her helplessness even more. The pain was too much to bear and her eyes rolled backwards, her mind giving out under the stress and fleeing into the depths of oblivion in an effort to escape the torment.

She was awoken by a pain she had never felt before, as her lungs filled with oxygen, only for it to be screamed back out through her sore throat. Surely, she had unconsciously shrieked before, as she could not remember having overexerted her vocal cords so much. However, the next moment all thoughts were wiped from her mind, as she saw her left hand, freed from the Katana, shattered and broken beyond recognition. A large man with the face of a beast came into view, when once again a shock ran through her body right into her brain; a hammer had come down and shattered her right hand. Foaming at the mouth, the tiny girl's mind gave out again.

Ultimately, she woke up one more time, as she could feel her hair being pulled. There were screams around her and somebody was lifting her up by her hair, disregarding the resistance of her neck under the weight of her broken body. She was flung over a horse's back, her whole existence filling with pain at the sudden motion, which soon subsided as her nerves were no longer able to sustain the onslaught of sensations, giving out under the impossible task of further transmitting the cruelties her body had sustained.

Moments later, she could hear the horses galloping, followed by episodes of blackouts leaving her with a fragmented memory of events that eventually led to drops of rain falling on her battered face. She was still on the horse when the rain turned into a downpour, compelling the rider that carried her to yell something. Answer came in form of inarticulate words, but their meaning soon became apparent, when the petite girl was once again grabbed by her hair and carelessly flung off the horse. The impact on the ground, in an ironic twist of luck, did not break her neck, but she bounced once and rolled over a cliff, down a deep ravine that shattered every last bone that had not already been by her tormentors.

Thus, there she lay, at the bottom of a ravine, half submerged in the little stream that was slowly but steadily expanding under the heavy rainfall. The little body was unable to move in the slightest and would surely die very soon, the testament of the atrocities of man would be washed clean by the divine rain.

Shingen had returned to the capital and headed straight for his home, where his future wife was surely awaiting his stories of bravery. However, guilt at having abandoned an innocent live to those men that had been twisted by war forbade him from telling of his own achievements. He would never speak of this night, in which he had become witness to the ugliness of the human heart, and bury this incident under the happiness that awaited him at home.

When he ran up the steps to his room on the second floor, his vision blurred for a split second, and he stopped. He looked down on his hands and found them twisted out of shape, as if a hammer had struck them and shattered every bone in them. Before he realized what had happened, every single bone in his body snapped, with large gashes, wounds that appeared to be inflicted by a Katana, forming on his skin, cutting deep into his flesh. Then, after a split second of silence, as if a grace period granted by a higher power, all the pain assaulted his brain and the air left his lungs in a scream filled with death, as his form collapsed down the stairs. He was truly fortunate to have broken his neck as he hit the ground, for his agony would have not ended with just that.

Somewhere, far away, at the bottom of a ravine, which would soon be filled by a river, the broken body of a petite girl shook under a wave of pleasure, as a sinister smile ripped across her face, disregarding the wounds that expanded her delight into a large grin resembling the countenance of death itself.

ANBU Sennin here, to approve an ANBU rank I require that some information is given in the history or somewhere about how the character joined ANBU and progressed to their current position. It doesn't have to be much, but it should at least warrant a mention.
