Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

  • Name:
    Kumagai, Morio. [熊谷守男]
    Age:
    Ten.
    Gender:
    Male.
    General Description:
    • - Personality:
      Ambitious. Introverted. Clever.

Morio is a ten year old child who can only imagine what the future has in store. Like most children, he's found his sort of "niche" in society. He wants to achieve great things, make his village proud, and become a shinobi. This is evident in his performance, because he's extremely ambitious and focused - he goes to extreme lengths to complete something, bordering the line of a perfectionist. He strives hard to do well and given his young age, it's a trait that many turn green with envy to cultivate - yet, it's a childish ambition. He doesn't like "no". He abhors being told he isn't capable of doing something. Therefore, he is stubborn. If he wants it, he will get it. Don't underestimate the lengths children go to get what they want, to prove someone wrong, to prove that they have some worth in society. He would prefer being beaten up over and over than to give up on a goal. Goals keep him focused and moving forward, motivated by the childish notion that if he works super hard, he'll be a somebody. It generally doesn't work that way, given societal limits and prejudice.

He could be classified as an introvert, but he is not shy. He is soft spoken most of the time, unless something sparks his interest; then, that is when the childish flair comes out and he can hardly keep still. Preferring to be around a small group of people is what causes him to identify with being an introvert. He dislikes large crowds, meaning large social groups force him to isolate himself. After being exposed to a lot of people and a lot going on at once, he needs a change to "recharge" - to spend some time alone relaxing before he can return.

Morio is clever. While he is no genius (he's an average performing student academically), he's able to weasel his way out of things. Having a lot of common sense and observant, he sees what other people overlook. A quick talker, it doesn't take much for him convince someone to do a favor for him. A favorable person and a quick, sharp thinker and analyzer, Morio is only alive due to being able to come up with a last-minute decision.

He is somewhat formal, a person who believes in giving the appropriate honorific to people he meets. He's courteous and respectful, quick to bow to someone who is higher in rank than him. Not prone to aggression, however, he doesn't believe in letting people walk over him. Don't let his soft voice and passive mannerisms confuse you - he's not a pushover. And his formality shouldn't be taken as an invitation to take advantage of him.

      - Appearance:
Standing at a height of four feet, seven inches, Morio is neither tall nor short for his age. He's a light eighty four pounds. Having an ectomorph physique, he's always going to have a small, slim body type. Because he is only ten years old, he has little to no muscle definition of his body. Morio's skin tone is a deep caramel, a skin tone not too unusual in the mountainous range of Kumogakure. His eyes are a cobalt blue - at times appearing extremely silvery and other types, a desaturated shade of blue. His Bear Country lineage is generally not easily identifiable, although his light eyes often bring unwanted attention to him. His hair is short and a dark brown, appearing black in some shades of light. Two pieces of hair frame his round face, sectioned off with a hair tie from the rest of his hair. The middle to bottom pieces of hair in these sections are dual toned, dyed a sanguine crimson in the middle section and then a plain white at the end. His hair is easily tousled, fringe scattered across his forehead.

As a student who is constantly moving, Morio opts for comfort over appearance. His main attire consists of a long-sleeved black jacket with a collar. Reminiscent to traditional school uniforms, the jacket has gold buttons that keep it closed. The sleeves are often rolled up, revealing a seafoam green color on the inside. The jacket is form fitting, but not entirely so, allowing him freedom to move around. Underneath the jacket, he wears a sleeveless black shirt, and an additional mesh shirt underneath. His pants are form-fitting black pants that come down to his mid calf, before cutting off. He has two regular pants pockets in them. His footwear consists of the traditional navy blue shinobi sandals that most shinobi wear.

    History:

By technicalities, Morio is not a true Kumogakure citizen. This is evident in his surname - Kumagai which literally means bear valley. In the Bear country, people traditionally take surnames that relate to bears, the moon, and parts of nature (rivers, swamps, forests, mountains, rice fields, etc). Eight years ago when the conflict between the Bear Country and the Marsh Country broke out, the Bear country was suffering. With most of the country's citizens being injured in battle, the country was running out of options and had little funds to continue to fund the war. Citizens were desperate, resorting to stealing from neighbors and even slaughtering them in order to collect their rations of rice. Although there used to be a plethora of rice fields over the Bear Country's land, when the conflict broke out with its neighbor, the government authorized quartering and ordered citizens to give a large quota of all rice to the feudal army.

Morio's mother was alone. Her husband injured in battle and likely to die of sepsis due to lack of medical aid, she had no one to turn to. The borders in Kaminari no Kuni were closed. Kumogakure and other cities were become swollen with a large amount of refugees attempting to cross into the shinobi village's borders. Knowing that even though she had a child, she would not be picked over anyone else. Desperate like her fellow citizens, she decided to send Morio away. Strapping him to a woven basket, she placed the four year old in a river and after wishing him goodbye and sending her prayers, pushed him off. There was a note in the card, explaining who he was and asked that he maintain his surname - Kumagai - in hopes that he will be able to learn more about his family when he grew older.

A young woman had discovered Morio floating in the Northern Sea, happened to be there solely by a chance of luck. Rescuing the young boy, she quickly took him in. She lived in a small home in the central hub of Kumogakure, which she shared with her husband, who as a miner. Due to fertility issues, the woman - named Hanako - was unable to conceive. But she saw Morio's appearance as a gift from a deity, meaning that her and her husband could have a son to keep their family line going, even if he was not a true descendant. Hanako obeyed the request for Morio's birth mother and kept his surname, Kumagai. Knowing that he came from the Bear Country, she named him Morio, which means "forest boy", as a way to describe where he came from.

Morio grew up with a happy childhood, one where he faced little discrimination. He did not outwardly appear to be a minority in Kumogakure, finding he only was treated slightly differently when his surname became apparent - and even some simply thought his family was from a different part of Kaminari no Kuni. By age ten, his parents enrolled him into the Kumogakure Academy, after discovering that he was able to use chakra a few years prior.
