Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The walk from the forest edge to the hospital was mostly silent. Her new student had passed out asleep after her sudden and violent vomiting session and was steadily breathing against Yuii's shoulder where she had been slung for transportation. Kikei seemed stable, and at the Jounin's swift pace they would reach the hospital soon

It was a time for reflection for Yuii, who was a little perturbed by the outcome of her lesson. She blamed herself for Kikei overtaking her medication. Yuii had a rough touch with her students, some had even called her mean, and even she knew her hard questioning and apathy had upset the girl into taking the medication that had left her in such a state. It was the same way she had been treated as a child by the kage guard of her illustrious aunt. A shinobi was meant to be strong, resilient, able to handle anything. They had taught her independence and vitality of character because that was what a shinobi and lady like Yuii needed. It had been their way of showing kindness because coddling the child Yuii had been would have caused her to imprint and love like a baby bird. It was the best training she had ever received and she just wanted to do the same for her students.

"I suppose this is how Nishi felt," she muttered to herself, shifting the girl's weight. Once after a training session with Kiyo's favourite guard, Enishi had landed too hard of a hit on her side. At first, none of them had thought anything of it, as bruising came hand in hand with training but hours later Yuii had collapsed from internal bleeding. It hadn't been his fault, but she distinctly remembered the guilt and worry on his face while her aunt laboured to heal her tiny body. Yuii hadn't given Kikei those pills either, but she would bear the fault.

This was just too typical for her lately, she thought while passing curious onlooking shinobi as she bound over the roof top 'roadways' that ninja of Kumoagkure often used to cross the village. Everything she endeavoured to do lately exploded in her face, every order she made was wrong and now even something as simple as teaching a genin some hand seals had taken a turn for the worse. Was it her, she wondered in a rare moment of self-pity, or had some evil spirit taken it upon themselves to sabotage her well-meant actions? She would need a drink after all of this was sorted.

"I've sunk so low my students are poisoning themselves to get out of lessons," she joked, uncharacteristically morbid and self-deprecating. The hospital loomed into view, and the Sennin gave a long sigh of relief. Kikei would get the medical attention she deserved now, and Yuii would- Yuii would what? Go back to her office and do paperwork? Train? Hover and make sure the younger girl was okay? She didn't know. That depended on what the medical shinobi said.

"I'm sorry, my student needs immediate medical attention," Yuii called as she entered the main triage of the hospital. It had been a very long time since she had willingly set in the building, and the scanty dress of the nurses was shocking. Ayumu had said no to her hot-pant including main branch dress code but here the nurses were a cold breeze from indecent? Double standards, Raikage-sama.

"Her name is Riki, Kikei. Genin- Raiden's balls, I have no idea what her age is. She's ingested some medication she claims to have been diagnosed to her and started vomiting as if poisoned. She lost consciousness on the run here," the Sennin dutifully explained while offloading the student onto a stretcher that one of the scanty nurses rolled over, "I think she has more in her pocket if you're looking to find out what they are. She took them an hour ago and started vomiting fifty minutes later. Her breathing has been a bit erratic, she lost the strength to stand and no, she isn't normally that ghostly white."

Osu came around the corner only seconds after he had been paged. "Get the paitient's medical records in my hands in the next forty seconds, get her to room C37 it is clear and ready right now. I want activated charcoal, an IV in her and blood tests immediately." A band of nurses began following Osu's directions with some beginning on handling the child directly while a few ran ahead to prepare the room. One tossed OSu the prescription bottle. And with a glance and a quick medical ward on Kikei Osu began giving more orders.

"I want a kidney dialysis and nausea control. Have that blood test examine the patient for lithium toxicity. The pills appear to be time release so prepare a gastric lavage to get what is left of them out. I want her in that room in the next 45 seconds. Move move move. Someone call me a specialist up from toxins. We are looking at possible kidney failure and I want whoever prescribed this small child such a high dose of lithium in my office in one hour."

Osu marched on by Yuii with a quick nod and a, "Sennin," and went to clean the student's blood.

A couple hours later the student was in rough shape but she was going to live and recover. Osu had a talk with her personal doctor and was simply waiting for her to wake up. She was going to get a serious lecture for not following the directions for her medication properly, but first he was busy trying to get more of the details from Yuii.

"Not to sound accusatory or disrespectful towards you Yuii-Sama, but what exactly caused this child to overdose on her medication?"

Slowly but surely the poor girl came around, her eyes bloodshot and dreary as she was still very weak from the ordeal. Half of her mind was still in a daze while the other was trying to put where she was and why she felt as if she had a tube down her throat. Didn’t take her long though to realize she actually did in fact have a tube down her throat, if not for her weakened state she would have attempted to remove it herself. Trying to focus she looked around the room hoping to see some sort of familiar face or at least something that would let her know where she was. Sadly her vision was still pretty hazy from the incident so all she could see were blurs, which made her close her eyes once more in hopes to relieve the strain she was causing to herself. ‘I hate this so much…..i don’t wanna be here like this….’ She thought to herself as she huffed through her nose in an attempt to sigh. She was at least conscious and things would only progressively better for the girl, well almost she was positive she was going to get some sort of ear full from her new sensei.

Yuii didn't cringe per say when Osu rounded that corner, but she did take an immediate interest in the ceiling tiles. Around her was a flurry of activity as Osu barked commands she hardly knew the reason for. He sounded certain and in control though, a good sign that Kikei would be just fine in his care. She turned her attention to the swarm of nurses expertly carry out every order given to them. It was very impressive, Yuii had yet to learn the trick to gain such a prompt response from her branch members.

Where Kikei went, Yuii trailed after, though she was careful to stay out of the way of those trying to heal the girl. She simply picked a quiet corner and watched on without comment or criticism. Staying here to make sure the white haired girl pulled through was the least Yuii could do to ease her sense of being a monster. And that was how Yuii spent several hours in the hospital, uninjured and with nothing to do but feel sorry for Kikei and for herself.

She was beginning to nod off in her seat when Osu returned. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to run off to this time, and ignoring him would have been suspicious and rude. "I haven't a clue," The Main Branch Sennin answered placidly, instead, "Maybe she lost track of the time?". He said it wasn't meant to be offensive, but she was already wrestling with guilt enough to not feel accused. The problem was, Yuii felt this very much was her fault. She had been too pushy, she was always too pushy, and this time she had missed the emotional fragility of her victim of well-meaning bullying.

Side eying Kikei in her hospital bed, Yuii gave a long sigh of relief when she noticed her opened eyes. "She's awake," Yuii stated, rocking out of her chair to standing and moving to stand at her student's bedside. Kikei looked small in her hospital bed, a stark reminder that she was still a child. The tube down her throat seemed undignifying and uncomfortable, which probably made it a better punishment than any lecture Yuii could think up."Med-nins are looking after you, so just relax and get some rest." She addressed Kikei, giving the fragile girl's hand a gentle pat, "don't think this will get you out of training again tomorrow."

Osu looked back and forth between the two before sighing. He pulled out an emesis basin and some facial tissues and began explaining that he was removing the tube as he put on some gloves. After preparing some measures in case she vomited, Osu began slowly removing the tube, unperturbed by any vomit that may occur, and looked to make sure the tube was still intact. After he finished removing the tube and cleaned her up he said, "It is good to see you awake. We will be weening you off of your current medication over the next week with gradually smaller doses, give you a couple days to cleanse, then start you on a pair of different medications that will function in a similar fashion but with different ingredients. The same controls will be targeted so it shouldn't feel much different than your current medication, but hopefully without the side effects. Now, you were entrusted with a medication you pushed your doctor to subscribe against your parent's wishes, and you were irresponsible with it. As your new assigned physician, I want you to tell me what led you to overdose." He began listening closely to the pair's heartbeats, to hear if calm was lost and if there was anything that stood out from what was said.

She opened her eyes once more as she felt the sensation of someone gently touching her hand only to notice her vision had restored itself a little and was able to make out the vague shape of her sensei, who stood out in her green and pink sweater. This gentle and heart felt gesture was not lost on the girl but having the tube removed did quite literally make the girl gag quite often but having her stomach emptied the way it was it was just dry heaving and nothing more. ‘Ugh that really was unpleasant…’ she thought to herself as she looked towards the figure she had been told was to be her new doctor. This was never a good sign in her book every new doctor meant a new prescription, which could mean new side effects or no effects at all. Thus was the world of mental health, it was almost a complete guessing game when it came to prescribing the proper medication.

“I…." She started to speak only to become winded almost immediately, so she took a few deep breaths before she attempted to continue once more.

“I just….I thought since the meds weren’t helping with the dosage that if I doubled it then I would be able to calm down from the sudden depression that overcame me when I started to feel like a failure for not being able to perform handseals…..” She would whisper a few words and mumble a few others as she talked about why she had taken so much of her medication.

“Thank you Sensei for helping me though, I really appreciate it…also training doesn’t sound so bad right now compared to how that tube felt…” She said with a soft smile as she turned towards the blue haired woman and gripped her hand with what little strength she could muster. Kikei slowly turned her attention back towards her doctor and tried to look him in the eyes out of respect but was probably looking right past him as she was still having some issues focusing on things.

“Doctor can you tell me your name?” She asked as It occurred to her that she had no clue about the doctor who just took over as her primary care physician.

Yuii watched on calmly as Osu removed the tubing. Luckily, Kikei had nothing left in her stomach to project up which Yuii was thankful for. The Sennin had seen quite enough of her new student's stomach contents for that lifetime. Removing equipment didn't magically rouse the girl, she would need more time and rest for that, but she looked far less pathetic now. It was probably for the best that her family had been unable to get here early hours as no one liked facing their loved ones feeling so pitiful and robbed of their dignity.

"That's a bit like doubling the heat on an oven to cook a cake faster," Yuii said, perching gingerly on the edge of the kid's hospital bed. "You just end up with a mess, instead. I've contacted your family, they've been afield all day but should arrive to check on you as soon as possible. I'm to relay their concern and love." There would likely be heads to roll when the medical branch inquired as to why a youngster like Kikei had been given such a powerful medication without parental supervision. Obviously, they had never adequately explained how important following the correct dosage was but there were other glaring issues Yuii could see. There were probably a heap more she couldn't. Luckily, that wasn't a matter for her branch.

Kikei's thanks didn't make her feel the least bit better, but at least things had turned out well enough."It's the least I could do, as your stress-causer." Yuii chimed, ruffling Kikei's white hair affectionately, "Just get some rest and feel better."

Yuii waited until Osu had an opportunity to introduce himself before chiming in. "Actually, you might be interested to know, Yukata-chan, our training was an attempt to tackle Snow's very strange inability to perform hand seals or form her chakra beyond using her Uchiha blood abilities. I'm uncertain as to whether or not the medical branch has attempted to ascertain if the problem is mental or physical. I believe you said your medication had a chance of aggravating your condition, right?" He could stop assuming, as she assumed he was, that she had been making Kikei balance over a pit of lava or swim through bees. One could hardly call a making a few hand seals, the very basic of the academy, stressful. It had merely been her approach and not being aware of the girl's double dosage that had been at fault. Bad luck, again, but it wasn't really Yuii's fault that wrong choices plagued her like pigeons after a sandwich. When she arranged it like that, Yuii could ignore the guilty feeling in the pit of her stomach.

That was that then. She had planted the seed to see if medical might do something to help Kikei. Otherwise, she would continue to try and teach the girl until they eliminated all other problems. With no reason to stay, besides emotional support she probably wasn't giving ver well, it seemed right to make her exit. "I should go." She said, halfway to her feet, "Unless there's anything more you need?"

Osu was a bit puzzled as he leaned in to hear what the young lady was mumbling. "My name is Osuteno, though most people simply call me Osu. And rather than doubling the heat I would change the analogy to adding gasoline to the oven." As for the explanation of what had stressed the girl enough to double dose, he was surprised to hear it was handseals.

When Yuii asked if there was a way to tell if it was physical or mental, Osu simply took one of Kikei's hands into his and began massaging it, feeling at the muscles, the bones, the joints from her wrist to her fingertips, bending and flexing her hand and then locking her fingers with his own and squeezing to test her response before doing the same process with her other hand. "Regular blood flow, no oddities in her hand structure or flexibility, average response time, a bit delicate but no noticeable injuries. Likely a mental block. It isn't terribly uncommon for bloodliners to have trouble becoming accustomed with handseals should our bloodlines activate before we start shinobi training since there is much we do simply by willing it, but complete inability is rather... rare."

"I really can't offer much on that end other than the therapy you need for stress anyway. As in you have the choice to either visit my office once a week or call me at this number via headset," Osu said as he finished writing out his office number and device number.

"And yes Yuii-Sama, I need you for just one more thing," Osu said as a tendril of his lightly tossed a clipboard to Yuii. On it was word for word what she said about what Kikei was doing a the time. "I just need you to sign that statement."

He then turned to Kikei, "Any questions?"

“Thank you….though I don’t quite understand how therapy could help me at this point. Though if you recommend it then I guess I don’t really have a choice. Especially when I’m sure my sensei would prefer I go.” The young girl said with a sigh as she succumbed to her fate. ‘Therapy sounds sooooo boring and dreadful. Especially with this doctor he seems to uptight….why couldn’t I just not take that second dosage…’ she thought to herself as she wore a small smile to attempt to hide her misery.

“When my parent’s show up will I be free to go home with them or will I be here longer than that?” She asked her doctor as she looked towards him. She was hoping to be free, being in the hospital was never something she enjoyed doing. With a small yawn she turned on her side and cuddled up with her pillow as she tried to get comfortable, at least as comfortable as one could get while hooked up to an I.V.

“I’m going back to bed wake me up when they get here…..” She mumbled as she closed her eyes once more and quickly drifted off to sleep. Being exhausted from everything made such a feat quite easy for the young girl who was barely paying any attention to the situation as it was, in fact there was likely a chance she wouldn’t remember much of what was said during the brief period she was awake.

Yuii watched passively as Osu checked over Kikei's hands. She hadn't expected much to come from it, but there was always the hope that a complicated issue could have a simple solution. The delicacy was no surprise, Yuii had noted that herself, but knowing there was nothing stopping Kikei from Yuii's simple training was a good step. She hadn't been causing her any pain, or discomfort that didn't happen to any of them during learning hand seals.

Kikei's reluctance to try certain processes of improvement grated on her, though Yuii would not have easily submitted to therapy either. The difference was, Yuii used the threat as a driving force to remove her own weaknesses to avoid it. She didn't whine or skulk away."You'll do whatever you need to do to get past this; therapy or otherwise. I'm taking this seriously, as you seem determined not to." she snapped, and though they seemed harsh, Yuii's words were still tempered by sympathy and guilt for the situation. Kikei would not have an easy time training with her new Sensei.

Luckily, Kikei didn't seem too upset and claimed she would be going to sleep. Yuii nodded, then nodded again as Osu asked for her signature on a statement. She glanced over it, reading back her own terse wording on the predicament, then signed and tossed it back.

"Heal up. I'll see you later," she assured one last time while leaving Kikei's bedside. As an afterthought, she blandly added "Thanks, Yukata-chan," and left the room.
