Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Description: The squad has been ordered to survey the alleyways of Sordid Avenue. Here a few academy student lackeys have stirred up a gang that is terrorizing the young and elder leaf civilians. Higher ranked ninjas have more serious concerns than petty thefts barely able to successfully run a muck in the village. Do not hurt them if you can, simply detain the criminals until higher authority arrives to escort the petty thugs to their sentencing. Use of force is permitted to an extent!

Yes, another mission today, or this evening I should say. The sun was setting, filling the large expansion above with a twilight color of bleeding orange. It looked beautiful, the sunsets in Kumogakure. Shouyu was already Sordid Avenue, looking out of place, such a young child in this dark, desolate alley. He was by himself awaiting his team mates, alley rats, cock roaches, and those less fortunate filled the town streets in their own feces. The smell was a bit rancid, almost like Mrs. Pots house. The smell was about to sicken him, he could only hope to get a move on fast.

As he waited, the kid posted up against a wall with his left shoulder and foot up to lean upon it. His arms were crossed, enlarged white hues closed as he held his head down, listening for foot steps and other outside noises. Some of the people bickered at him, as if testing him to do something or threatening. Today's job was suppose to stop some little kids, maybe around his age if not older, from running a muck out here. The village needed a vanguard and the team was just that. Shouyu shoo'd and brushed people off, giving them cold stares to show he wasn't here for any play play.

He didn't bother explaining himself to anyone, let alone uttering a word. His silence was something that has become him now, a real intricate deep thinking. He still was a ball of energy, but he held these out bursts in, if he had one right now heh... All of these guys would have a trip to the infirmary today. He could be a bit reckless when excited, what was it about life threatening situations that excited the boy? Today he expected a team of familiars, and in the distance he could hear someone approaching, his head cocked toward that direction to see.

Kobura had received the next mission and although it didn't seem all that interesting she would at least get some fighting in so she hoped. She gathered her gear and made her way towards the meeting point. Being that it was in an alley she decided to travel among the rooftops since to her street level travel would be to obvious and she would have a wider range to see the area from above. Upon reaching the location she awaited for the others to arrive and the first was Shouyu, it was obvious he didn't notice her so she picked up a small pebble and hurled it towards his feet. While the pebble was in mid flight she made her way down the opposite side so that she would be right beside him after the pebble had hit.

The pebble hit the ground near Shouyu and she slid right beside him, "Hey Shouyu" she said in a lower tone than normal. She had met Shouyu previously and after the mission to return Mrs. Pots she could tell that he was down to do just about anything to see the success of the mission. This was the type of person she needed on her team. It made him seem loyal and she could depend on him when the going got tough, which was a very attractive trait to her especially for a ninja. She slid her headband down to around her neck as she looked around awaiting for the rest of the team to arrive. This mission seemed to be just young children causing mischief, they were probably around her age if not slightly older or younger.

Kisho strolled through maze of streets and people, pausing every now and then to look for one of his teammates. There was a sea faces before him, each marked with signs of their respective occupations: a smudge of dirt on a farmer's, fish guts on the chin of a fisherman, beads of blood rolling down the cheek of the butcher. Kisho took solace in their normalcy. He was until recently just like them and he could have easily blended in with them.

He forged ahead, slithering between the peasants as he momentarily caught a glimpse of a serious looking Hoshi standing next to a girl, probably the leader of group. This was his first mission, though he wasn’t too worried. There would be four of them participating, so their numbers alone should make up for his lack of experience. His expectations were high. Taking out a couple of kids shouldn’t be too difficult.

Purple clouds hung lazily in the sky, indicating the time of the day. Was the mission a night raid. The notice wasn’t specific on how they completed the mission, leaving it to their discretion. He figured the council wouldn’t approve of seriously harming a group of kids. Nighttime would seem like the best time to accomplish the mission with the least amount of trouble. Surely our little delinquent friends would be sleepy?

Finally he reached Hoshi and Kobura. “Hey guys,” he said gesturing towards the crowd. “ I guess everyone is headed home huh?” He then turned to Kobura, a smile spread on his face. “Oh, we haven’t met yet. I’m Kisho.”

He was overlooking the mission debrief with a sigh, seems his good friend Izanagi wouldn't be able to make it on tonight's mission of mischief. Kids versus kids, who's tricks will fair better? He overlooked the description once more, clearly stating to apprehend the children, and notify higher ranks to deal with the rest. This was simply a lure and capture mission. It would show team work efficiency in stealth and avoiding combat if they were able to.

A pebble his foot to the left, as he looked, his head dropping a bit, he immediately shifted his gaze to the right, without a slight movement of his head. A sigh of relief came out knowing that the voice and person next to him was none other then Kobura. He was afraid one of the little ones had got the jump on him. He just nodded at her, half-way smiling nervously as if to not show he wasn't spooked for half a second.

"Hey Kobura."

Kisho soon walked up completing the team, he introduced himself to Kobura, the team leader, Shouyu gave a wave to Kisho. He then undid the scroll once more in order to give him team the full details before passing it on to Kobura for leadership. He kneeled down, pointing out some key words in the debrief.

"Lure and capture them, await further orders then our mission is complete. It's clear, we are to avoid combat at all costs and handle this quick and easy. As for the game plan..."

He rolled up the scroll, stuffed into his sash at the hip, rose to his feet and looked at both team mates. Another nod he gave to them, followed by a thumbs up to Kobura.

"That part is all you, Kobura."

He said so with a large smile, both hands behind his head as he laughed knowing that his responsibilities were not as great as Kobura, though in a few days he was also due for Graduation to become a Genin.

Kobura smirked knowing that Shouyu was slightly spooked by her thinking that he had been gotten by the other kids, "You have to be more aware Shouyu" she said in a jokingly tone. She watched as another member of the team had arrived, she was unsure for who she was waiting for at first until he walked up on them and spoke mentioning that his name was Kisho. "Hey Kisho" she said giving him a slight nod and introducing herself aswell.

"Now this should be a simple task, Shouyu mentioned to lure and capture them but in order to lure them what must we do first? Gain their attention" she answered before allowing a response from them. She kneeled down picking up a several pebbles off of the ground and raising back up, "We have something to gain their attention, now we just need bait for them. Kisho how good are your acting skills?" she asked placing the pebbles into a small pouch."

"My suggestion is we have Kisho pretend to have a bag of valued items in this here pouch and he must announce it so that he is able to get their attention and cause them to follow him. If Kisho can get them into a dead end ally Shouyu and I can surprise them and get the jump on them. Shouyu if you can create lightning clones that will also be in favor of us. The more the merrier would make it easy for us to apprehend them if they are occupied with the clones and focused on Kisho. You boys ready?" she asked handing the small pouch of pebbles to Kisho.

After greeting Kobura, Kisho turned to Hoshi, who had begun debriefing the group on the mission. As he read the scroll Kisho casually played with a few his locs, twisting and curling them around his finger. There was a pause, so he assumed Hoshi was finished.

“Well that sounds easy enough. We should be able to easily outsmart these guys. We better. I would hate to be bested by a bunch of kids.” Their group was, in fact, composed of kids as well. He didn’t know either of their ages, but both Hoshi and Kobura had a at least a few inches on him. ‘Why am always the shortest out of everyone?' he thought, slightly annoyed.

He looked around for the other tall kid he knew, just now noticing that Izanagi was missing. “ we're missing one person right?” Hoshi and Kobura must have known his whereabouts. They didn’t seem to be looking for him and Kobura, being the mission leader, was privy to information that he didn’t have. At any rate, they didn’t seem concerned so he wasn’t. Hopefully Izanagi didn’t get ambushed, though he doubted they would stand a chance.

“How are your acting skills?”

Kisho rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He hadn’t done much acting, but his father did have a flair for drama. In a way he was acting on a daily basis. Being a refugee often involved acting to blend in while adjusting to your new surroundings. He took the bag of pebbles. Challenge accepted.

He didn’t mind being the distraction, at least for this mission. He would get to have a little fun with the little thieves before watching them get clobbered. If the mission were more dangerous, however, Kisho wouldn’t have been so eager. He wasn’t to keen on dying.

“Excellent plan, let’s go. I’ll say that these are pearls. That should get them listening. “ He tossed the pouch in the air and caught it.

Shouyu playfully rolled his eyes at Kobura's statement of awareness and chuckled once more. Kisho and Kobura were now introduced and Kobura gave a follow up plan, after his mission debriefing. She proposed Kisho act as a decoy to lure the pests from corners. It sounded simple enough, Kisho's enthusiasm backed that up. He and Kobura could easily watch atop the roofs while Kisho lay traps behind him.

"Hey Kisho, use these whenever you can, should make it easier for us all."

He handed him some strands of ninja wire. Very thin and in this dusk light, it was damn near invisible. Kobura added he should make some clones, extra eyes surveying the area would mean less traveling, more efficiency. His head turned to Kobura, nodding he wove a few hand seals at a moderate speed, three white clouds gave life to three additional Shouyu's. Without a word they jumped to the roofs and scattered.

"Scouts from a top, bait right in front of their face setting traps, let's try and bunch them all up and refrain from using any Ninjutsu. I know they're just kids and we are too, but, I don't want to hear it word from council haha."

The pouch was in the air jiggling, rumbling like a bag of precious stones and it echoed down the dark walls of the Sordid alleyways. With that being he said, he gave a peace sign with his left hand and took to the roof tops with his clones.

The alleyways looked quite different when alone. The corridors stretched further and the shadows they coddled were more menacing. Even the smallest of noises transformed into gargantuan echoes that ricocheted from one crumbling, stifling wall to another. His claustrophobia successfully triggered, Kisho set out to find their prepubescent poachers.

“Damn this place!” Kisho swore to himself quietly. He had no clue where he was going. All the alleys were the same, with each only having a unique mystery liquid tucked away in a corner. Kisho looked up as he walked on he looked towards the rooftops. Hoshi and Kobura were having a much easier time navigating the place no doubt. He sighed and trudged on.

After a bit more walking, he paused, peering down an alley. This one was remarkable only for the fact that it was unsullied, at least compared to the other he happened to pass by. Feeling the urge to pee, he descended upon the ally, holding both his sack and the sack that Kobura gifted him. He leaned against the back wall and pulled out his ninja tool.

“They could have at least given me a description,” he muttered as he relieved himself. “Or at location. Something.

Interrupting the pitter-patter of his pee pelting the wall, a shrill voice rang out. “Hey, what are you doing?”

“Kobura is that you?” He turned his head only, noticing a greasy looking child eyeing Kisho closely. He awkwardly shook off his equipment and holstered it, getting into character.

“Why are passing in Blue's bed?

Kisho looked down at the spot he peed on and saw nothing, a look of confusion plastered on his face. “I uh…Ah was jus' about to settle down ‘ere to peddle me wares. Ah've got somethin' interestin' in this lit'le bag ‘ere. “

“To hell with your bag! Boys!”

“’ey now, that ain’t no way for a lit’le un to be conversatin'!” Kisho bent down and stuck his hand in the bag, rustling the pebbles around. They sounded more like glass baubles hitting each other much more than stones thudding against one another. “Now these ‘ere are sumthin exquisite! It’s glass made from Raiden's thunder said to ‘have magical properties and the like. “

When Kisho looked up about 20 new faces were sending hate his way. He rubbed the back of his head nervously. “I guess you want ta here about the bulk prices, eh?”

Turns out he didn’t need that description or location. Our little friends had found him.

Kobura had followed suite fading into the shadows but staying at ground level keeping an eye on Kisho from a distance and with Shouyu covering the rooftops they had the perfect set of eyes on him. Kobura looked around watching her back also with her Kunai in hand, although they weren't suppose to harm the children causing trouble but she wasn't about to be caught off guard especially since she didn't know how proficient they were in combat, which would be bad for them if they were caught by surprise.

While following Kisho she noticed he had stopped but seemed to be covered by the shadows she couldn't tell exactly what he was doing since he had his back to her, she assumed he was attempting to locate the children by jiggling the bag.to make the sound echo in the alley. Before she knew it a crowd of people had walked into the alley and seemed to confront Kisho, what surprised Kobura was that there was so many of them that they had to handle. This was going to be one of a task especially since there was so many of them the best chance was for to Kisho to freeze them.

"Why don't you pick on someone your own size" she said yelling out and stepping from the shadows and her blue eyes shimmering in the street lights. Her plan was to get their attention so that Kisho could use something in his arsenal to bind them. This was an intense situation as Kobura looked towards the rooftop with her eyes tracing Shouyu and his clones, "now is the time to strike" she said to herself hurling her kunai at one of the kids on her right side grazing their arm causing him to start to trip momentarily. She stepped backwards back into the shadow as a group of about 5-7 of the kids started running at her yelling and screaming at her.

From the rooftops he had eyes, four pairs of them at that too. One soon caught on to Kisho's location who was surrounded fast after relieving himself, or so it appeared from his distant view. Shouyu mentally relayed this information to other clones and the real Shouyu, who was on ground level now stringing up a whole lot ninja wire. At each corner and bend, he laced a ninja wire for the chasing assailants. What was perfect, was Kobura's move to divide a portion of them. The group that followed her would have triggered the wire in a slight flash of traveling shimmering light. The kids would have felt this tug on their ankles and in the seconds before crashing onto their two front teeth and foreheads, would be wailing their arms and shouting frantically.

"Kobura, tie them up, I'll attempt to divide the rest from Kisho."

Two other clones would have then started throwing pebbles at the larger group before Kisho. One would have binged a derpy larger child who responded, slightly late to the connection. He would look over with a dumbfounded and look and point out the clone.

Kid:"Hey that kid just hit me in the faaaace."

Some of other kids turned to face him, while another was clocked in the back of the head by a pebble, a large red lump appearing on his head where the rock connected. The kid's eyes watered up and he turned around to point out another clone which would have confused and discombobulated the bunch of kids. The last and final clone, and the real Shouyu were standing adjacent, from the roof tops again. Each of them held a smoke bomb. Shouyu would call out to Kisho.

"Kisho Now! Use your earth style and trap them where they are!"

The two Shouyu's jumped from the roof, acrobatically performing a nice twisting front flip while accurately tossing two smoke bombs on top of the kids, deterring their vision and causing more confusion. The kids flailed, and coughed, wailed out loud cursing the shinobi. What potty mouths from some academy rejects.

Kisho blinked, pleasantly surprised at how the mission had turned out. Just a few seconds he was staring down an angry mob, apparently angry that he passed in an empty corner reserved for a certain Blue, whose whereabouts were unknown. For all he knew, Blue could be among the group of kids currently being picked apart by Kobura and Hoshi. At any rate, capturing them was the more pressing matter.

Thankfully there wasn’t that much more to do. Both of his teammates' timing was impeccable, and they likely saved Kisho’s conscience the guilt it would have incurred by utterly destroying the group of troublemakers (or save his pride from being unconditionally decimated if he had been on the receiving end of said destruction). Most of the children were either incapacitated or distracted, leaving Kisho free to do to them what he pleased. Kisho knew from his time living outside the walls that a well-functioning team made situations like this significantly easier.

Immediately after Hoshi distracted the last group, Kisho quickly drew out one of his throwing knives. He had taken advantage of the earlier commotion and tied the end of it to one of wires Hoshi had given him. At the opposite end was the bag of rocks from Kobura. He tossed the knife at the children and it flew straight, curving as soon as it was past them. In this manner it wrapped around them several times before the end with knife buried itself in an alley wall. The end with bag lay next to Kisho, holding the bind tightly in place.

“I think we got all of them...”

Kisho performed a binding technique with the wire he was gifted with. And so Shouyu linked some wire to shuriken, tossing them Kobura's way who seemed to have frozen and captured the rest of the group, he would round them up in with Kisho's group, tying them all up. They grew fussy and so Shouyu tapped his line of the wire with an ElectroShock jutsu that funneled itself through the wire and lightly electrocuted the group, draining their energy and stamina as they all flopped to a collapse, easy work. He looked over to Kobrua and wondered she had froze up like such in the middle of battle. He looked over to Kisho releasing his ends to the wire and walking over to him.

"Hey, we should signal for back up and wait here... What do you think is wrong with her?"

He pointed over to Kobura with concern, some barking from the rejects could be heard and Shouyu would hush them quickly. He hoped that Kisho had a flare or some headphones to signal in the call, or maybe Shouyu himself had one.

"Nice job Kisho, you got the moves, I got the moves, we make the village move."

He said so with a rhythm and wiggle of his head and body in correspondence with the cadence, a large smile was on his face dancing in front of the rejects at their completed mission.

Kisho beamed at their handiwork, his hands resting at his hips. He definitely was growing as a ninja and was quickly learning the customs. Still, there were some things that were jarring, such as the present situation. Kids were much deadlier here, some even more capable than the adults. Though he was not concerned about them yet, the ethics of hiss occupation were quite muddled. The miscreants were only kids, but so was his team. Kisho grimaced empathetically as they were shocked. Yes, he and his peers were too powerful to trust and he would keep a careful eye on them.

“Yeah we should. I don’t want to walk with all of them. Especially that guy, he’s up to something. “ he pointed at a rather snake-like boy, rubbing his hands together as if he was spreading an ointment between them while he licked his in anticipation.

He looked at Kobura, his head cocked to the side as he pondered her condition. She was suddenly inactive after the whole confrontation. ‘At least she helped with the hard part,' he thought. He turned his head straight again, finding no obvious injuries to her. “She's just seen something awful, leaving her frozen in awe. She was blinded by our brilliance. She probably just needs a few to recover. “ It was the only thing that made sense to him.

Kisho danced along with Shouyu, momentarily forgetting his earlier thoughts. With his hands in the air her started a one-two step to the left and right. “Yeaahhh.” The captured children sat dumbfounded, their open mouths and lowered heads revealing their disbelief.

Shouyu instantly lit a flare he had in his pouch at Kisho's first remark. Kisho also pointed someone out, and Shouyu knew it was a strange bunch. He too felt uneasy about some of these characters. They seemed really upset to be subdued, as if they had some alternative objective. Some of them could have been eyeballing Hoshi and Kisho intensively. Shouyu himself overlooked this and just gave a smug look crossing his arms.

"Yeah, I hear what you are implying. Some of these guys seem off the radar sketchy."

His attention was then turned to Kobura. Hearing Kisho's words, it was a sensible deduction, but he still had a hard time believing it to be true. He had much faith in Kobura and couldn't see that being the situation. Although, he had to agree, she did help even though she froze, for whatever reason. Shouyu shrugged and agreed, finishing up his dance with Kisho, the flare finally hit its peak and exploded like a firework making great visible light in the night sky. Now they only had to await an immediate reaction, a team of chuunin and jounin were on the way!

"Say Kisho, what do you say to making a team, huh?"

Kisho’s eyes followed the flare, its brilliance reflected on his face. As it sizzled away its last flames he sat cross-legged on the rough pavement, a jubilant smile on his face. Shouyu, though he didn’t know it, had provided an appropriately nice finishing touch on the mission. After all, it was Kisho’s first completed mission and fireworks, to Kisho, increased the significance of the event. In his mind, there would be many more events like these.

He had been flipping a knife idly when he heard Shouyu’s question. Kisho looked at him curiously, his lips formed into a small ‘o’ shape. He was completely blindsided by the question and, therefore, he spent a moment thinking before giving an answer.

‘What was it that he saw?’ he thought to himself. Obviously, he had impressed Shouyu, enough for him to extend an offer of friendship, but what had he done. His accuracy with his knives displayed his accuracy and timing, and his footwork to distance himself from the mob proved his agility was excellent. Not to mention his creativity that he showed with his celebratory moves. Yes; agility, timing, and creativity all are important traits for a teammate to have and all three were demonstrated throughout the course of the mission. They would make a great dance team.

Kisho nodded soberly. He didn’t trust his peers yet, but being around them would be the easiest way to keep an eye on them. “Yeah let’s make one. We had some nice moves just now. We could be great.” He casually cycled through dance group names in his head as they awaited their relief.

Shouyu was glad to hear that Kisho would be delighted in seeing if their skills could cooperate in the future. He looked to the sky, his smile fading. The Shinobi world was cold, and he felt he needed as much close friend is to protect and protect him if he needed. He figured banding up together would maximize survival and efficiency as this mission showed.

"Great! Maybe some day we can hang out and really find out each other's strength and see if we are compatible! Plus, you were one of the first people I met here in Kumo..."

Some chuunin and jounin had arrived on the scene and quickly began rallying up the thieves and apprehending them properly. Shouyu backed up a little to allow them space to handle their business. They were greeted with thanks you's and allowed to retreat and accept their rewards for their efforts. At the same time, he'd look to Kobura who he'd hope make it home safe and then back to Kisho.

"Well Kisho, see you around sometime, maybe you can show me some more moves!

He smirked at Kisho, and gave a thumbs up before turning away. He crouched into his legs and pushed his weight down befor lifting it and taking a high jump on to the roof tops. Shouyu retreated with ease getting used to this footwork, he could be seen giving a peace sign before fading into the Kumo night.
