Kai swung the study room door open, which had a feint creak but at least the hinges weren't all that rusty. There was a noticeable smell of old books in the air and the occasional dust. Nothing a feather duster and some kind of air freshener couldn't fix. He flipped on the switch to get a better view since there were not any windows in here. The lights turned on after a short flicker.
Kai got to cleaning and started picking up any loose paper or trash on the floor and deposited it into the wastebasket. After placing a few fallen books on the desk for later, he removed all the books from the shelves in their current order and went down the line to dust the shelves in full. He was meant to re-organize and re-shelve them anyways, which he would promptly do next. Soon the books would be dusted and placed neatly on the shelves in a simple order of subject, author, then title. Next he dusted off the desk, wiped it with a washrag, then orderly replaced all of its contents and items back on there, one by one. Then he did the same dusting with any other surfaces around. He picked up the fallen globe of the world and placed it back on its stand.
Everything was looking neat so far and he was almost done here. Now that everything was off the floor from cleaning, he could move on to them. So next he just cleaned the wall-to-wall, old shag carpet with a vacuum cleaner from the supply closet around the corner. Clutter and waste check, bookshelves check, dusting check, globe fixed check, floor vacuumed check. Lastly he slipped one of those hanging air fresheners on the door hook and went to put the cleaning supplies that he used away. He went and briefly looked back in the finished room before leaving it.
