Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Standing in the middle of Shin’s classroom stood his sister, Chikamatsu Kohana, the Persona that dwelled within the Grandeur Phantom’s soul. Shin was in the offices working on the necessary paperwork required of him with the recent promotions he passed out and to file paperwork for the additional exams that are to come up soon.

Wearing a red and black suit, Kohana was not appearing as though she was prepared for the lesson advertised for today. She was to teach Taijutsu, but she looked as though she had a meeting with the Kazekage or a foreign diplomat. She dressed this way on purpose, she was curious if any of the students would be able to pick up the reasoning behind her decision.

As the students would begin to file in she would let out a loud cough to catch their attention and to sign that class was beginning. ”Before we begin, if you do not wish to leave this class with injuries such as gashes and broken bones, leave now and return when a different instructor is in charge. If you cry when in pain you are dismissed as well. If you don’t want to push yourself in training to near death you are also dismissed.“

Neko, who was previously excited, paused at the statement. There was something cold and uncomfortable about entering a class to hear that statement. She took a second look at the door, but continued to her seat, her eyes focused on the unknown woman at the center of the class.

She pulled out her notebook and reviewed her genjutsu from the last class, preparing to show off that she had managed to master 5 since the last time around. Looking to the woman on e again, she paused for a minute making another note. Very curious as to what was about to happen, but determined to stand her own in whatever was to come.

She straightened her posture and sat correctly in her chair. Tapping her pencil waiting less and less patiently to find out what the general warning was about.

Kazuma entered the classroom and took a seat among the students. With a mix of curiosity and commitment, he observed the mysterious appearance of Chikamatsu Kohana, dressed in her unusual attire. The atmosphere in the room felt different from a typical classroom setting, and he felt that today's lesson would be anything but ordinary just like the last one. Fortunately, he was early to the class, and the teacher's eyes were one he recognized from the previous lesson.

Better stay on guard he thought as he took a seat behind the small girl with pen and paper in her hand.

Kazuma's concentration intensified as Kohana cleared her throat and her words echoed around the room. She sent a strong and clear message: this class was not for those without hesitation. It put every student's resolve to the test, as well as their willingness to endure pain and hardship. He watched to see if any other students were to leave after that warning, knowing full well that in this school, you must always be on your toes.

Kazuma reinforced his dedication to the Shinobi path. He came here to learn and grow, to test himself and develop the skills necessary to protect his new village and allies. As he waited for the lesson to begin, he braced himself for the difficulties that lay ahead, knowing that it would be through these trials that he would emerge stronger and more capable should he succeed.

He leaned forward to the young girl before him and gave some words of advice "I have a feeling this isn't going to be a take notes kind of lesson today" then looked up at the sensei awaiting her next move. The last time as he arrived he was greeted by a fireball, who knows what today's lesson will bring.

As the last students filed in, many more got up and left. Disappointingly acting as cowards. Kohana’s face looked of disgust towards each of them as they left. She took a few steps to slam the door shut before letting out a chuckle. She turned to look at the students that remained. There would be only two that wanted to brave the tests of this class.

”Kazuma-kun, I hope you have a handle on your Storm Release. According to our last class, this Neko-Chan is bit of a try-hard-kunoichi-wanna-be. She sopped up Shin’s class like it was water in the desert.“

Taking a few steps towards the podium she slowly lifted her foot and curled in her arms in a practiced position before quickly kicking out causing the podium to splinter and spray against the far wall. ”Put your books down, today the two of you will learn to see what it is like to face an enemy that is leagues stronger than you. I’ll give y’all five minutes to familiarize yourselves with each other before the lesson starts. Once class starts it’s not ending until one side of this spar is unable to continue.“

Her face turned into a smile, her body began to radiate a dark aura. ”I’ll wait.“

Neko was about to make a comment under her breath about the description provided of her eagerness to learn, but it was quickly silence by the yelp when splinters flew past her to the far wall. She looked to Kazuma and stood, walking over to close the distance between them.

"I'm.. well I'm Neko.. I am a genjutsu specialist.. I hope you're more physically inclined then me?" Her words were brutally honest, she knew her limitations when it came to size and strength. But, if she could create openings for her teammate here, she knew that sort of tactical advantage was a must have in a fight like this.

Her left hand nervously gripped the opposite forearm as she assessed the other student she was teamed up with. She assumed he was capable physically given his previous statement.. but was he going to be able to keep up with this psycho path at the front of the classroom?

Right, I'll just have to keep making sure he can. As much of an opening as I can provide, that's how we make it through this part.. effort. Her thoughts for the first time in a while were not manifesting out loud.. she was getting ready to actually fight again. But this time, at least she had a partner to face the enemy with.

Only a small number of students remained to face the challenges that Chikamatsu Kohana had prepared, and Kazuma watched as the majority of them chose to drop out of the class. He couldn't help but feel a sense of determination in his heart; he was here to learn and grow, and he wasn't going down without a fight. As Kohana addressed him, he nodded in acknowledgement as she spoke of her genjutsu abilities. He focused his attention on Neko, the girl who would be his trial partner. He admired her level-headed and tactical approach to the situation, albeit a bit shy.

"Kazuma Santaru," he said in reply to her introduction, giving a slight bow in acknowledgment. "I specialize in Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, specifically centered around my storm release. I'll take care of the physical side but I'll need your help, there won't be many openings for us, but I'm sure we'll make an excellent team," he said with a warm smile. He knew the odds were stacked against him but there's a bit of fun in knowing the cards are not in your favor. He could sense their teacher's dark aura, which only fueled his desire to win. He was prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead with Neko.

"I don't think I can activate my abilities here without doing damage to the school," he said as he raised his left hand up behind his head to scratch his hair "I think our best bet is to make the first move on her mark, I have a feeling she can wipe us out in an instant if she wants to "

"Perfect." She nodded as she thought along with his words. "I think we shouldn't plan too much out loud for obvious reasons, but i think its clear our rules are for this ya?" She smiled as she pulled out that notebook once more and circle one of the selected jutsu from within the many pages. She smiled and put it down, "We are obviously going to have a tough time, but at least it's two versus one.. Small silver linings and all that"

She started to stretch in place while thinking out what the plan of attack could be, what genjutsu she should throw up in order to diverge and distract this target. She was going to need something she had mastery of, not something she was just figuring out if she wanted to make a difference in this fight. She knew that if this teacher closed the gap on her, it was going to be a short fight.. maybe it was time to use her false surroundings or mimic? A hard choice but it was one she was about to have to make on the fly.

Kohana would look at one of the clocks on the wall waiting for their prep time to come to an end. The moment the clock struck the five minute mark she would grin and look towards the children before her. ”Rule number one in actual Shinobi combat. There are no rules.”“ As she spoke the world would grow dark. The environment around the two students would fade away into a black ether. They would lose sight of not just the desks and the walls, but if Kohana as well.

”When facing a Shinobi stronger than you do not give them the opportunity to get prepared themselves.“ her voice seemed to permeate the darkness around the two omnidirectionally.

A ringing sensation would fill their ears. This would prevent the two from communicating to each other. Kohana was combining two very potent Genjutsu. Blank Slate and Night.

Sitting outside of the Genjutsu Kohana shifted her weight to watch the students suddenly be unable to process the world around them. She chuckled slightly as she pulled out a few pieces of chalk. Launching them across the room at high speed they would, if successful, strike the students like a punch if someone at their strength level, not hers of course.

”Easy pickings.“ she would through her voice to make it appear as though it was coming from between the children, but as though looking at each of them. She would do this to see if she could trick them into striking one another.

the youn Santary nodded at Nekos suggestion, agreeing with her notion we shouldn't dwell over strategy too much if we had no idea what was coming either way. "I wouldn't count our numbers as an upside just yet, if her taijutsu is anything like her ninjutsu, we are in for some trouble"

The teacher then spoke with a powerful tone, "There are no rules" with that he stood in a ready stance, waiting for what was to come but what happened next surprised the boy.

Suddenly there was silence and darkness accompanied by a loud ringing that forced his hands to his ears, but thankfully Kazuma's shinobi instincts took over. Though he felt unsafe, little did he know that they were imprisoned in a genjutsu. He summoned a storm shield to shield Neko and himself in the blink of an eye to attempt to prevent the teacher from pushing forward into their position. The shield buzzed with electrical current, ready to block any potential threats. As it was erected a small orb would begin to float around the young Santaru boy though he could not physically see it, 'Somethings not right here' he thought as he stood at the ready to defend himself and Neko from whatever came next.

His heart was racing, and his senses were on high alert, ready to react to any sudden movements or attack, when suddenly he heard the teacher's voice coming from the direction of where Neko once stood, could she have moved that quickly? He went into a blocking formation as he could not see what was happening and did not want to be caught off guard by an attack. "Neko Can you hear me.." when in fact Kazuma could not even hear himself. He knew for sure he was under genjutsu but the real question was what can he even do about it?

As if a flash bang had gone off between the pair, Neko's sense's were flooded with an overwhelming rush. Her vision blurry, her ears ringing, her nerves on high alert. Neko knew that this class was going to be different but she had no idea what that had meant. Then the voice rang out from where Kazuma had been standing but it wasn't his voice. She was hesitating, her senses being so thrown off she couldn't think on her feet. But then she heard the faintest murmur of mumbled speech past the point the original voice had come from.

Neko thought for a second, if she was to use these abilities how would she do it? Confusing the enemy was one thing, but to have them attack their own was far more useful in a situation where you found yourself out numbered. This was that exact situation, so why would she close the distance? Simple answer was she wouldn't, she would keep her distance and cause issues from afar. That's at least what Neko was hoping was the case.

She turned to face where the teacher had initially been, at least to the best of her ability. She reached her hand out, gently, in a hope that she could feel her partner in this nothingness. Once her hand touched him there was a humming in the air, a low tone that rumbled out from her hand. The sensation of calm and peace would wash over Kazuma as she touched him. She was acting on instinct, having very little understanding of her own abilities and yet, somehow, making them work to their benefit. "I know you can't hear me but we can do this." She said knowing full well the words would just hang out into dead air.

She then took several steel balls from her bag throwing them in the general direction of the teacher. She knew that most would miss initial contact, but that wasn't the point. She had been practicing with these specifically to learn her Unforseen Strike technique. When the balls miss they ricochet around the room, the result was having the teacher needing to be off balance and on their toes at the same time. The unfortunate side effect might be that a stray ball comes their way but it was a risk that was strategic enough to take. "Please.. Kazuma.. Close the gap.." She begged out loud in hopes he would hear any of it.

Kohana would watch as the young Santaru would quickly begin to surge with Storm energy. Fascinating. She would think to herself, she wasn’t as familiar with the bloodlines within the village as Shin was, but when she thought of Storm Release she assumed it meant weather patterns, this was unexpected, but not as surprising as what Neko did next.

The launched ball would miss Kohana, this kid had the bravery to attack her? How cute. Ricocheting off the wall behind her Kohana would mean slightly and catch the ball with her hand. She chuckled for a moment, it seemed as though Neko wasn’t going to easily confuse the situation.

”Well, let’s try this then, if you want to fight, let’s fight.“ she would dart towards a nearby wall before striking it with a hard blow, causing a large portion of the wall to blow out into the training field.

Slipping out of view, Kohana would drop the Night Genjutsu and in its place the Body Double Genjutsu on the children each of them would see the other as Kohana, and their ally lying out in the training field unmoving.

Kohana would watch, invisible to the students as her physical form was an apparition to begin with. She was curious how they would react to this. Seeing their target standing near them, she wondered how each of the combatants would react.

As he stood in the darkened classroom, Kazuma's storm shield crackled with energy, ready to defend himself and Neko. He couldn't see anything, and the ringing in his ears made communication impossible. The tense situation had his heart racing, but he was ready to face whatever threat came their way.

Then he was surprised by a sudden burst of movement and the sound of an impact against the wall. Someone appeared to have made a move that resulted in a large blast. The impact caused a large portion of the wall to collapse into the training field, allowing him to see and hear again.

On the field, he could see that something was seriously wrong. Neko was now motionless on the ground, her body apparently knocked out.

The situation was not looking good; he was sure that the large blast was made by his sensei, as he couldn't of imagined the small girl was capable of such a thing. Was she caught in the blast? he thought as he walked slowly to size up his opponent. No time to dwell on it, need to act fast before she takes me out too. Acting quickly he forms some seals together before a whirlwind of storms appears over the false image of the body of Neko, He was attempting to revive her or at least help her regain consciousness, his orb still floating around him.

Rejuvenating Storm - Storm Ninjutsu
Many shinobi who specialize in certain elemental prowess tend to have an upper edge in combat depending on where they are fighting; known as the “home field advantage.” Santaru, however, have no such weakness. They carry on their back the weather of their homelands and are always at an advantage in any battle due to this.

Cost: 1.5 AP; 250/450/650 CP. 125/225/325 CP per round.
In the back of his mind, he couldn't help but wonder what Kohana's next move would be as she stood in front of him. He would clash his fists together in preparation, and electricity would cover his hands, then lunging at whom he thought was Kohana before she had the chance to strike first.

Thunderfist
A technique which saturates the user's fist with pure electrical energy, condensing it so much that it becomes as dangerous as a live wire. Once formed, the user is able to transfer this electrical energy into a target by simply touching them, shocking them instantly.

Neko, having seen a similar situation happen, jumped to cover the fallen comrade. Neko did not have a second thought about her choice in that moment, If Kohana was going to make any move against her that was fine, but her ally needed to be healed. Her hand touched the body and went to use another healing jutsu. Her color drained slightly as she tried to transfer some of her vitality over to Kazuma. Her eyes were confused and darting, it wasn't taking hold and she was now panicking as she was only able to do so much. "Di.. Did you.. Kill.." She stood slowly but by that time a lightning hand was already plummeting into her side.

She folded into herself, already in a weakened state from her jutsu, collapsing and holding her stomach. A small cough of blood left her mouth as she hit the floor with a thud. She didn't have the stamina or will power to win a close one on one fight, and it was clear in this moment that she was going to lose. She laid there and started to do what she could do, she stumbled to a standing position, putting her hands up as she swayed back and forth.

She looked to the illusory Kohana, her form barely standing. "Let's.. Let's" her words failed her as she weakly passed out onto the ground. All her energy spent trying to heal a false apparition of her new comrade. She hadn't had the time to get her energy back, which made it far too easy for someone like Kazuma to land a blow. Her uncontious form laid there breathing heavily as she could not gather the strength to get back up.

A lighter would fill the air as the Genjutsu surrounding the students would start to fade away, revealing the devastating blow that Kazuma landed in Neko.

”Neko-chan, I see that Taijutsu is not your forte.“ as she spoke she would walk up to the girl as her hand began to glow a soft radiant greenish hue. ”That’s one thing you may need to practice if you plan on being a Medic. I saw you using Medical Jutsu, and if you plan to rush to the front lines to heal your allies you better be able to take a punch. If you crumple like a sack of rocks each time you are struck you will be useless in the medical arts.“

She turned to Kazuma. ”You on the other hand, job well done. If you know Taijutsu is a weakness of yours you need to learn to take a strength like you Ninjutsu and use it to bolster your Taijutsu.“

She paused before placing her palm on Neko’s back using the Medical Chief tier Medical Jutsu that Shin was capable of producing, essentially recovering all wounds that the girl may had received.

”Neko. If you plan on being knowledgeable without any real combat skills you will die as a Shinobi. You need to be able to stand strong, and if you can’t quit this path. Go join the Oracles. I’ve heard that Order likes intellectuals that can’t fight.“

With a soft smile she would turn back to Kazuma. ”I think your lessons have made a pretty clear progression in your skills. You should consider taking the Genin exams…“ Her face would drop as she turned to look down at Neko as her physical form would start to disappear. ”… so you can begin protecting those that can’t protect themselves.“

Her physical form would simply vanish and if the students waited around they too would realize that their substitute teacher had simply left the class without dismissing them.

((OoC: once Kazuma makes his final post I’ll drop off the request for us to claim class rewards, remember you must wait 7 days from claiming a class again, and you have up to 7 days from council approval to claim the rewards from this class. That being said, you two are now eligible for Genin Exams! If you would like to join a Genin Exam please note at in your OoC section in your next post. If you would like to wait there is nothing against that either. Keep in mind if you wait, you will automatically become a Genin once you hit B-Rank. Additionally, all Shinobi in Sunagakure have a Main Branch Rank. So even if you join the ANBU or Medical Branches, you will still have a Main Branch rank you can work on progressing from Genin to Chūnin to Jōnin.))

Kazuma stood there, his heart heavy with a mix of emotions. The fight had been harsh, and Neko had suffered serious injuries. When the genjutsu that had shielded them began to fade, exposing Neko's wounds and the reprimands she had received, Kazuma couldn't help but feel responsible for her condition. Believing that she was their sensei, he attacked her full strength, which was a bit much in retrospect.

He made a silent promise to himself as he watched Neko receive treatment: He was going to strengthen himself, master his abilities, and defend those who couldn't defend themselves. He knew well what these difficulties entailed and the possible outcome similar to what his parents went through, but his senseis' positive words encouraged him.

He realized he needed to improve his Taijutsu, his combination of techniques seemed to be a good path for him after hearing Sensei's advice on enhancing his Taijutsu with Ninjutsu.

He felt inspired and hopeful after hearing Sensei's remarks regarding the Genin exams. He knew that becoming a Genin was an important step in his Shinobi journey. He had to keep getting better for the benefit of everyone who depended on him as well as himself.

As Sensei left the class without dismissing them, Kazuma remained by Neko's side before carrying her over to a small cot in the nurses quarters so she could recover properly.
The difficulties they encountered today were only the start of their shinobi journey but the next test would decide if Kazuma would continue as a genin or not.
