it had been weeks since the events of the Genin exam, and Sora had been wait patiently for his father to return from a routine escort mission so that he could tell him everything, and show his father he was not a disappointment as his mother had made him off to be, but that he too could become a great shinobi. but as the days crept on, Sora was feeling less and less thrilled, and more and more anxious. Where is he... Sora ad even confided in Yasu and Mokuba several times, as he too began standing at the gates of the city everyday, hoping to high heaven that his father would be walking back at any moment, but nothing came. Finally, after an eternity, Sora found himself at the gates, listening to Mokuba announce the figures coming into view. A sinking sensation struck Sora, however, as he sensed with his sonar only two heartbeats, from the three bodies. his eyes filling with tears, soaked his new headband, and his chest tightened, as if drowning in fear. Please be wrong... please don't be him... please... he begged internally, gasping for air, only to be met with more pain, as the wistle around one of the gatekeepers necks blew, and a team of medical shinobi appeared out of thin air. The last think he heard was the name Naragaki, and then Sora's world pitched and fell into echoes, and he screamed and sobbed at the gate. He could feel Yasu and Hibiki, and he saw Mokuba talking, but e didn't hear them past his own thoughts and tears.
That was four days ago. Now, Sora sat in the family zen garden, dressed in all black robes, with faint accents of gold and midnight blue. With his Father gone, Akane became the head, in all things. She ascended, and that meant Sora fell further. He didn't care anymore, though. His father was the only one that fought to make sure Sora was treated at least remotely fairly bay Akane. he was the only one that vouched for him when mother was having a tyraid over something Sora had done that wasn't perfect and proper. Sora may still be young, but he knew here, at his father's wake, that he needed to leave, or he might not survive much longer.
"Well, well, well." Speak of the devil... "Looks like baby Sora finally got his precious little headband. In case you had forgotten, it changes nothing." As she spoke she walked in circles around him, her words dripping with venom and malice. "Akane, dad's gone... I don't wanna do this today." Sora stood up to leave, but she immediately pushed him back down. "Exactly. Father has moved on, so you will address me as 'ma'am' or 'madam' from now on. Got it?" Sora felt rage bubbling up in his chest. "Or father is not even a week gone, and already you're pulling this shit?" Sora stood abruptly, and knocked Akane into the sand, his temper getting the better of him. "You dishonor his name, and are not fit to lead this house!" Sora shouted violently, storming off.
"Clan rule number seventeen; a member of Hashigaki trait will not speak out of turn!" Akane shouted out, desperately. Sora spit on the ground in response. "Clan rule number eight; A male will always lead the clan in times of crisis." pausing in his place, Sora dropped his headband around his neck, allowing Akane to see to perfectly golden globes he kept hidden. "Turn this into a crisis, I dare you." he whispered callously.
Within seconds, the two were engaged in the zen garden, fighting back and forth with blinding speed. Akane cast several genjutsu, but Sora broke them with ease, his rage at her disrespect fueling him. They fought with fist and foot; kunai and shuriken, littering the zen garden with steel and destruction. as they locked blades, Akane smirked. "Scared baby brother? I can kill you now, and no one would bat an eyelash. You're no one." Sora swung several times as they locked kunai once more. "True, but if I die, at least people will mourn. You, big sister, are nothing." Infuriated, Akane doubled her assault, lashing out with new found vigor, and beginning to cast ninjutsu, destroying the zen garden with he flames, and turning the sand to glass. Sora began to panic a little, realizing he was now, in fact, fighting for his life. I need to leave, now. as he went to make a quick escape, Akane attacked, but Sora used his stunt double technique to quickly create a clone and switch places with it, as a pseudo-substitution. Running for the far door of the courtyard, Akane shouted at him "You dare turn your back on me?!" Sora heard her hands clasp together repeatedly, forming a combination of handseals, and recognized them as a jutsu he'd seen Akane use once before during training; a fire technique that vaporized everything in its path. Panicking further, Sora struggled with the door as he reached it. I don't have time to dodge, and there's no way I can block an attack that powerful. Think, Sora, think! His mind raced, but fear prevented any thought from forming. he was about to die.
Suddnely, Akane froze, unable to move. Sora was frozen as well, but his with fear and confusion. Thump, thump! Thump, thump! Thump, thump! another heartbeat was racing nearby. Smirking lightly, Sora thought, Good, she got caught. His heart jumped into his throat, though, and his stomach sunk, as Sora recognized through sonar the sigh of Sachiko, the weakest and youngest sister, with the stance of Shadow Strangulation jutsu, a Nara technique. Clan rule number one; should the traits be presented, a Nara must and will be head of clan, regardless of age, gender, or previous rulers decree. Sora suddenly was hyper focused, and no longer wanted to escape; he needed to get Sachiko out of there. Akane's face was twisting with rage beyond that Sora had ever seen. Casting a quick wind clone, Sora sent it off to the gate, knowing Mokuba Sensei and Yasu would be there as always. He needed help.
Please hurry, guys... I might be joining Hibiki here soon...
