Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The message was received, pinged and directions were given.
The rush he felt within him as the names of those involved were dropped were instant. The office was where he had been sitting, signing papers and reading reports before heading off to go home. His last drops of coffee still in the cup, it had grown slightly stale but he would still normally, reluctantly bottom it before his usual walk home.
From one second he was there, reading and listening to his Youkai contract and greatest friend and ally Hitomi with her dark ANBU clothes and wild flowing orange hair giving a quick report from a message received over the radio.
The office was suddenly empty. Papers still in the air, some of the papers on the table flew up and floated slowly towards the ground and steam that was emenating from the cup of coffee vanished as well to be replaced with new steam. The chair's cushion still had his butt marks as the air in it filled again. It was like for a second he was invisible. The door leading out of the office had only creaked imperceptively like it had barely moved, but had in fact opened fully and closed again.

Hitomi stood there in the office still barely able to percieve the change of atmosphere as the last words of the report escaped her mouth. Realizing then the reason as she just regurgitated the words but didn't process it herself until a moment later. Knowing then why her master was in such a rush. The atmosphere within the office as he departed was almost like it had been left charged with an electrical current. She felt her hair absorb it and become slowly more poofy. Knowing the risks, she departed the room as well, admittedly at a slightly less rushed pace than her master, but at least she knew where he went..

On her way she kept sensing this change in atmosphere, like a lightning had crashed through the building and left eveything charged, she ran and as she did her radio was activated and she began calling for further backup from whatever other ANBU or Harvester were around to listen. Broadcasting over the channels that Corvus had gone ahead and more might be needed.

---

His senses were screaming at him to stop. His muscles were tensing like they hadn't for decades, his speed was imperfect, but still had the brute force to set him on his path and reach his destination faster than most. His body was Volt Charged to the extreme, his element, the element he felt most comfortable with. He knew how to heal, he knew how to be stealthy and embrace the darkness of his position. But the bolt of lightning that was jumping over the buildings leaving roof tiles and bricks floating behind him felt almost like he was back in his true elemental embrace. The people below walking with smiles, and laughter walking with lanterns in the night, not knowing the horrors that lurked beyond their horizons, barely able to perceive the flash of lightning appearing above them in the corner of their eyes, the speed demon was once a name he held, his intricate knowledge of the human and Shinobi body and his lightning able to pacify or jolt a heart to jumpstart was a skill he had honed for many years

His leaps let him scan the district closely, higher and higher he quickly recognized the turmoil and broken buildings from where the battle had ended, he tensed his leg muscles one last time and leaped further than he had ever done before.

At the final jump he leaped across where the battle was happening, and his black peerless dark orbs where the mask had his eyes underneath scanned the environment, realizing where his students and potential applicant was standing. Pulling his still charged arms back, his hands moved with lightning speed, forming jutsu seals. Above him dark clouds formed, and through it emerged a small ball of light, it's size could be barely be perceived due to the intensity of it like a flashbang across the district, as his hand grasped it he pulled it down and threw it with the intensity of Raiden, the Kumo god of lightning himself striking the demon-possessed Keiyaku. The lightning would send a bolt of intense electricity down through his whole body spasming out muscles and locking him in place.

The striking of the lightning would cause a bright flash across the area blinding anyone looking looking directly at Keiyaku's furry body, and right behind the strike Keiji, in his black ANBU robes and white hollow eyed raven beaked mask would land in direct opposition to where Keiyaku would be stunned and writhing, trying to shake off the electric buzz going through his system. As Keiji would rise his arms straightened out to his sides as his hands illuminated with sparks and jolts. Around only him and Keiyaku a net of buzzing electric lines would form in the shape of a dome wrapping them both within it leaving the two others outside to see him within. The net surrounding them giving faint light illuminating the dark clothes and white mask of the ANBU Sennin.

His mask's hollow blank eyes flared with a blue light, his Byukugan fully embraced and his muscles tightening, and hands tightening as his legs spread into the stance of his ancestral bloodline. His eyes scanned Keiyaku's body, the chakra veins within flaming, boiling within like the beast that had him under his control choked and squeezed the very life force of his body to the utmost maximum tolerance. He'd seen this before. He figured when he left Keiyaku in the hospital he would have worked through this possession in his own way, he regretted not giving this boy more guidance, he regreted not being there for him and telling him the truth. Through his fists he tried to force these feelings, with his index and middle finger he quickly poked and prodded at the child's body, every attack closing his veins, limiting his chakra, slowly hit by hit limiting the control and raw power the Demon could pull from Keiyaku's own reserves.

((OoC: Sorry for the delay and the shortness of the post!))

The series of gravitational shifts and invisible strikes were beginning to piss Shusuke off as the boy felt as though Keiyaku was throwing him around like a rag doll which he absolutely hated. Fortunately for him it did appear that his invisibility genjutsu allowed him to take a moment to remove himself from the line of fire as he needed to recover briefly from the blows he took. Kiriyomi was showing exceptional skills through the use of reanimated corpses and even conjuring massive barriers to protect. On top of these skills Shusuke had never seen before he witnessed the once Genjutsu user show adept skills with his Ninjutsu techniques!

Shusuke was prepared to launch an ambushed attack at Keiyaku as he darted towards Kiriyomi but was interrupted as a bolt of bright light struck Keiyaku and Corvus arrived on the scene. The Yamanaka boy would dart towards Kiriyomi and make the seals for the most basic of medical ninjutsu, Mystical Hands, to help restore any injuries that Kiri-kun may had obtained. "Kiri-kun, are you hurt?" He looked over at Corvus-sensei. "That is Corvus, he is the leader of the ANBU Black Ops here in Konoha. He's an expert in Diplomacy, Inquisition, and Assassinations. So he can handle Jackal for the time being. He wasn't supposed to go off like this, we were planning on introducing you to the branch to see if you would be interested after testing the skills you've learned to far but Jackal has taken this too far." He looked back at the Aburame.

"What do you want to do? You can leave if you'd like, Corvus-Sensei and I can handle this on our own if you don't think this line of work is something you want to engage in."

Kiri watches as his Kikai start to absorb some of the giant beast's chakra, but slowly start to fall to the ground, dying from the corrupt energy they were attempting to feed on. Normally, he would feel guilty about their deaths; however, at the moment, his main focus was making sure that this beast didn't reach the village where it could easily terrorize everyone and cause widespread damage and harm to the inhabitants. As his fire jutsu lands a hit on the beast, it howls in pain, rolling around to douse the flames clinging to its back. As it does, Kiri realizes that he and the other participants in this battle all begin floating into the air, before being violently slammed into the ground. Landing on his stomach against Hitomi's shell, the wind is knocked out of him and he lays there dazed for a moment, looking to make sure that Shusuke and his Behemoth are both alright. Unfortunately, the behemoth was shattered and the pieces cast across the clearing, and it would take time for Kiri to reassemble the amalgamation to fight again. His primary concern, now, was that the Keiyaku beast was charging at him. Bringing his hands together, he quickly casts the Earthen Coating jutsu on himself, preparing for impact.

Just before the beast reaches him, however, there is a bright and blinding flash as someone strikes the beast, causing it to miss its charge on Kiri. Fighting against the gravity's effects, he struggles to his knees and makes sure that Hitomi is alright before glancing around and noticing a new figure standing in the clearing behind where the charging Keiyaku had come from. Shit. I don't have enough chakra to fight both Keiyaku and this newcomer. What are we going to do? And where did Shusuke-senpai go? Is he alright?

As if sensing the boy's thoughts, Shusuke would dart over and perform a medical jutsu to help restore some of the injuries Kiri had sustained in the battle thus far. Feeling his head clearing, he shakes it and gives Shu a thumbs up and a grateful smile. ""That is Corvus, he is the leader of the ANBU Black Ops here in Konoha." Sighing in relief that the newcomer wasn't an enemy, Kiri listens closely to the rest of Shu's explanation. He was apparently an expert in many fields, and the goal wasn't to attack Kiri, but rather to introduce him to the ANBU and see if he would be interested in joining. Things had gotten away from them, however, and now "Jackal" was going wild and attacking both Kiri and Shu. Standing up and wiping some blood from his forehead, he smiles at Shu and nods at this "Corvus" figure.

"If you'll allow me to stay, I don't plan on backing down just because the odds were stacked against me. Keiyaku is a friend of mine, and a member of the Hidden Leaf Village, and I vowed when I became a shinobi to protect everyone in the village. I may not understand what's going on right now, but running away is the last thing that I have on my mind!" Making the handseals and pouring chakra into his palms, Kiri draws out a Water Whip and slashes out at Keiyaku's back. While he may currently be fighting against them, Kiri didn't want to cause any permanent harm to his friend. Hopefully if they wore him down enough, then they could tire him out enough to where he would change back into himself and they could figure out what, exactly, had happened.

It all seemed to come at once; the Aburame's Kikai nibbling away at his chakra, the whip of water striking him and then...

"ARRGGHH!"

It came out more as a guttural snarl than a scream, the boy being bowled over by some sort of force. Whipping his head around, the werewolf stared at the newcomer through feral, unrecognisable eyes, his elongated, snout-like face contorting into a violent, bitter leer as that familiar scent approached. It was him. It was the bastard who kept him sedated inside this child's soul every time he threatened to get loose, every time he managed to exert a bit of his power, his destructive essence on the world. No, he wanted freedom and autonomy; he had a nervous system now, even a sense of taste and smell with which he could experience the warm, scintillating taste of flesh and sinew. He'd never had these sensations before, in all his years of existence; he didn't just have to cause chaos for the sake of it anymore; he could feel it.

Muscles seizing up, pain flaring through his stolen skin, the demon struggled to maintain his grip on Keiyaku, the physical trauma threatening to jolt the human child back into the proverbial driver's seat. Losing chakra quickly, he let out another roar, and once again, waves of gravitational force began to mount, traveling outwards in all directions as undulating waves, increasing in intensity until....

"GRGGHH!"

He let out a yelp of pain, albeit at a much higher pitch and Corvus-sensei began jabbing at him, forcing chakra through the veins and sinew connecting him, switching off parts of his network. His voice, as he cried out, was suddenly much more human. The heavy force filling the air was dissipating, gravity returning back to normal as the demon was muzzled. Helpless against the Senin's expertise, those feral, pitiless eyes looked up at the masked man, into the eye-holes, and the look it gave him was one of utter loathing, the look of a starved animal being shoved back into a cage, denied the tiny scraps of food it had almost gulped down. There was a grin.

"ARGH!"

There was another yell, and one that much better matched that of a fifteen-year-old boy. The transformation he'd undergone was happening in reverse, but it looked no less painful. The bone structure in his face was changing, shrinking. The snout was receding back into his head, his mouth and nose settling back into a human shape as he writhed and shook his head, still bound by his teacher's jutsu. The excess body hair was receding, as were the pointed ears and his enlarged teeth. When it was over, he lay there, panting, conscious, but dazed. Tears had welled in his eyes from overexertion and with the shame of what he had just done; he could remember it all. All he could do was choke out one question, and it was indicative of Keiyaku realising there was something, really, definitely wrong with him.

"D-Did....Did I... h-hurt anyone?"

The controlled jabs continued relentlessly. The lightning cage that enwrapped them gave a quiet but continious buzzing like they were surrounded by a swarm of bees. With his fingers stretched, chakra knots concentrated on the tips, they were like a blur while his eyes behind the mask flared the intense blue light it was almost like his Hakumei had come back in the briefest of moments, alas it wasn't needed to test those limits as Keiyaku's transformation began reversing steadily. He kept jabbing but the pacing had slowed and he only made sure everything was shut tightly to ensure the transformation back was smooth.

He stood above the boy as he panted in overexertion. His tears-filled eyes looking up at the emotionless white beaked mask, within the dark pits where his eyes would be, Keiyaku might see the faint blue light, like a small flame illuminating from his eyes. The emotions he felt himself were intense and his eyes flared these thoughts like a practiced intensity. At the sight of Keiyaku in this state the words he uttered made Keiji crouched down on his hunches. With one hand he reached down and grabbed Keiyaku by the shoulder and held him firmly.

"You're okay. You just need rest."

He tightened the grip on Keiyaku's shoulders and with his other hand he gave a quick jab and squeeze at the shoulder joint connecting his brain with his nervous system causing Keiyaku's mind to falter in focus. Most people might fall asleep, go unconscious for a few minutes, in the case of Shinobi, it might cause the same, or the person would just feel a slight jolt through their system, like an intense relaxant drug. At the current exertion level, Keiji hoped he'd go unconscious...

As Keiyaku relaxed releasing his grip he stood up again and assessed his surroundings, releasing the lightning prison surrounding them looking like a thousand fireflies dispersing from Keiyaku and Keiji. He tightened and adjusted his gloves as his eyes looked across the chaotic battlefield where they had fought. His headset buzzed and on the top of the surrounding buildings a number of dark human shapes appeared like they were hidden away until they had assessed the situation properly. Now they emerged and with them came down his Youkai contract in the shape of a young red haired girl. Not looking older than nine years old by her size alone. Her black ANBU robes covering her whole body except for her hair, on her face was a blank Kitsune mask.

She walked casually up to Keiji and her mask turned towards Keiyaku lying on the ground. Then turning to look up to Keiji, giving each other a firm nod of understanding, her hand raised she snapped a finger and pointed to Keiyaku. Two other ANBU came down and ran over to grab Keiyaku, holding him between them one by the feet and the other by the head and arms, they began running at a steady pace with him between them, their breathing in steady rhythm with a hushed "hup hup hup hup hup" at every step.
Their path was that of the Byuoin, this time Keiji would force him to get to know this beast within him, and confront this darkness.

But first, the beaked mask turned to face the two other children that was a part of this situation.
His eyes flared with his byukagan to assess them and then turned off again. He took steps towards them, his dark robes catching the wind, his adrenaline still hadn't settled fully so his intensity and seriousness would be palpable for anyone trained to see it.
A dark voice escaped the confines of his mind and through his mask as he first addressed Reaper. On of his most recent inductii to the ranks of the ANBU. "I'll be expecting a full report on everything that's happened in my office tomorrow morning.." Like a looming snake his mask adjusted it's position and his dark void holes where his eyes would be rested upon the newcomer he hadn't seen before.

He assessed him for a few seconds giving them both time to think.
His voice was like fog, dark, looming, hard to pinpoint its origin "I've heard of you.." He remembered going through the students roster from the Academy and seeing their skills and exams. "If Reaper speaks on your behalf, you are welcome to join our ranks if you so desire. An invitation will be provided."

After speaking he turned around with a firm footing and he began walking away again in quick pace. His path was to the Byuoin to begin the culling and beast handling within Keiyaku. He hoped he could at the very least diminish the risks of another fallout. If not, he feared, the ANBU might no longer be a position that would benefit Keiyaku. He'd need containment at the very least to ensure the safety of the village..

He dreaded that result admittedly. And he hoped it would never come to that, with some guidance and support he was sure Keiyaku would be able to control it. Beast handling was in his blood after all, if anything all he needed was to understand it was just another beast to befriend, just another potential friend, he just needed the right angle to lay down the ground rules and establish dominance within himself... He hoped at least. Not everyone is fit for everything and anything. But Keiyaku's situation is basically tailored to him, he'll learn. He has to..

Kiri stands there, watching as the monster before him slowly transformed back into the boy that he knew to be Keiyaku. He was rather confused as to what had happened, but stood back as the transformation continued and the stranger stepped forward to grasp the other boy's shoulder, talking to him in a tone that Kiri couldn't quite catch. He looked between the scene before him and over to Shusuke, trying to understand what exactly was going on. Shu had mentioned that his person was the leader of ANBU, but what the hell was that? Was this some secret society inside the village that he didn't know about? Did he really want to become a member, if what was happening to Keiyaku was something that happened to these people? Or was what happened an isolated incident?

As these thoughts swirled around inside his head, Kiri almost doesn't notice the figure of a small girl walk into the clearing with them. She was wearing a mask that was similar to those that Shu, Kei, and Corvus wore. He could only assume that this newcomer was also an ANBU member then. Raising a hand and snapping, two other members materialized at her order and picked up Keiyaku and started to carry him back to the village. He started to move towards them to stop them and ask them what was going on, but it was at that moment that their leader turned his attention onto Kiri and Shusuke. Stepping towards them, Kiri felt a cold sweat break out along his back, and he froze in place. As the figure addressed Shu, he could do nothing more than stand there and listen, waiting for his turn.

"If Reaper speaks on your behalf, you are welcome to join our ranks if you so desire. An invitation will be provided." Trembling as he stood there, subject to this person's gaze, Kiri could only nod in response. The voice seemed to come from everywhere and nowhere all at once, and he could almost feel as though the eyes were looking through him rather than at him. He had pieced together that Shusuke was Reaper, so he turned to his senpai as Corvus headed back towards the village.

"I don't know what the hell happened tonight, if this was intentional or not. All that I know is that Keiyaku turned into some beast, and a scary figure showed up and saved our lives. Obviously I won't be telling anyone about this. I know when things are meant to be kept quiet. As for joining you all in whatever this is... if it means that I am able to better protect the village from threats like the monster Kei just turned into, I want in. I don't care what it takes, I'll do whatever you all ask of me. Just give me a chance." With that being said, he turned back towards his home and started to slowly walk back. His mother was likely worried and looking for him. He didn't want to make her wait any longer than she already had.
