Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Onamuji, freshly returned from his pilgrimage to other villages, sat perched on a rock face outside the walls of Soon's Haven. Night had fallen much earlier, making it doubtless that it was more in the morning hours than night at this point. Time was no longer a familiar concept to the Rikudo Sennin at this point. Since learning of his ancestry and the secrets of the Sage of Six Paths, there was less worry about the passage of time. He was no longer a single flesh-and-bone body, but an existence whose consciousness transcended the trappings of one mortal form. With multiple bodies came a lowered concern for age or ailment. Such things hardly seemed to affect him any more.

His goals, however, wore heavily on his mind where more mortal concerns didn't. Muji was destined to follow in the footsteps of the First Sage, the original Sage of Six Paths and the aptly named 'God of Shinobi' for his invention of ninjutsu. This man held power unheard of, using his innate mastery over the natural elements to create the shinobi arts and the ninja world as it was known. That power, through the generations, had lost that pure and unfiltered strength. Though the auburn-haired Muji was truly a Rikudo Sennin, and a shinobi of incredible skill in his own right, he was not the First Sage. He required more training, more study, and more methods of achieving power. Only through these methods could he hope to match his forefather's ability to change the world.

Unfortunately, as he gazed into the pale light of the full moon that descended into the horizon and threatened the approach of the sunrise, Onamuji remembered the legend that surrounded those of the Sage's lineage. It was said that they were destined to follow one of two paths...either to become a God of Creation or a God of Destruction. One was said to change the world through creation and understanding. The other would achieve change through violence and destruction. Both held the same goal and the same general end, but through vastly different means and morality. Though Muji knew he had to obtain all the power he could in order to be able to create change, the uncertainty of which path he was destined to follow haunted him.

Would he use his gifts to being unity and order to the world in his wake? Or would he use his power to tear the world apart and force it into the building of a new age?

As the amethyst-eyed sage looked out over the desolate expanse of his home country, he wondered again which he would turn out to be. Inside, he hoped he would foster unity and order, bringing strength through reformation and innovation rather than the latter path that would no doubt beckon him to "wipe the slate clean", so to speak. As morally ambiguous as he tended to be, there was a permeating sense of honor and kindness that held at the core of his being. Even when he traveled and consorted with killers and individuals consumed with hate, he was ever the one with a pleasant smile on his face. But...that was merely wishful thinking. Reality was usually not what one's dreams hoped for, and the world he had seen outside Sunagakure had given him mixed feelings. Kirigakure had been beautiful, but hostile. Without any provocation, the men who received his group had been bent on the idea of violence and death. They tempted the idea of "wiping the slate clean". In contrast, the people of Konohagakure had been kind-hearted and welcoming, with youth of the village showing respect and giving him a brief lesson in some of their ways. They were a ray of hope in an otherwise chaotic world. When compared, it was hard to get a concrete idea of which path he should take.

As he did in his dreams years ago, now the Rikudo Sennin looked to the waning moon, hoping for an answer to calm his heart...

[Contract Preference: Bird seems fitting. Both because it seems like a sagely animal, and the Overlord(s) are a pair of phoenixes (my favorite!) with conflicting natures. Like Muji! :p]

Onamuji declines. I appreciate the catch, Hughes, but Sharkies are just too uncharacteristic and weird for Muji :p
