Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Academy Notice Letter - 5 Days Ago said:
Dear Tanigawa Megumi-san,

Our records indicate that you have fulfilled the requirements for a graduation examination. After successful examination, you will be promoted into the Shinobi ranks as Genin. Please register your examination attendance at the Academy and arrive in Room 104 at 7:45am, five (5) days from this notice. The Academy wishes you the best of luck on your examination.

Regards,
Konoha Academy

It was still too early for classes at the Academy to start, but speckled here and there were some students wandered around the campus and hallways, either killing time or squeezing some training somewhere on the training grounds.

Room 104 was almost empty once Megumi got here. The only living thing besides her would be one person sitting by the instructor's desk, reading a book on basic genin examinations. A large bookshelf was looming behind her. Her outfit would not be anything over the top like her stage costumes. Nor was it entirely battle worthy due to its more fashion then function. But it would do nonetheless. She at least looked somewhat like a ninja of Konoha.

Yume would look up when the examinee arrived with a smile. "Surprise!" she chirped happily. "I was asked to be your proctor for your graduation exam, Gumi! Congratulations!"

She held out her hand for the registration paper and then gestured to a front seat in the empty class.

"Take a seat."

A paper would be placed in front of Megumi. It was blank save for the line up top for Megumi to write her name. Yume had to prepare herself for the inevitable barrage of questions from the young puppeteer.

Megumi cling to the letter with excitement and worry as she read the letter. Finding it odd that it said she fulfilled the requirements, as she had not been tutored. Megumi would continue to read as she walked through the halls of the academy towards room 104.

Surprisingly she was not the only student at the school at such an early hour CLoud they be here for an exam as well?. From the looks of it they seemed to just be killing time and hanging out with friends before class started.

Reaching room 104 and entering, she saw an empty room save for one familiar individual. Looking at the idol as she yelled surprise, Megumi would be confused by not just Yume’s getting but her appearance as well. It was a heavily customised pink qipao, that was rather short with black latex looking boots. Megumi could not tell if she was cosplaying as a ninja, which would be odd as she is one or going to serve her tea.

As she said that she was charged with being the proctor for her solo exam it all made sense. Megumi found it odd that she was skipping past one of the requirements and going straight to the exam. Taking the paper as Yume handed it to her, she would think about the forest and all the time Yume and her had spent together. Was everything the idol put her through a test? Did she plan everything out like a puppeteer behind the scenes, pulling the strings and making everything lead up to this moment?

Taking at seat like her proctor asked. Megumi would examine her friend if she was her friend, or maybe it was all just a lie. Looking down at the piece of paper she would only see an area for her name, while the rest of the sheet was blank. Looking back towards her examiner, “ I don’t have any context, what am i supposed to fill out on this blank area? Or am i now allowed to ask questions and you accounted for my actions”? Megumi would speak politely, but coldly as everything that she had done with the women could of been fabricated.

Hmm, she looked a little closed off there. Or maybe that's just Megumi being Megumi. Yume brushed it off with a big smile. "Oh, I know. Wouldn't want you on a headstart on your written test now!"

Turning to glance at the clock on the wall, it was ten minutes left until it struck eight. Now was a good a time as any to quickly explain the young girl's exam. "Your exam is pretty simple - I mean, it's the Genin exam after all. I bet you can do this with your eyes closed, you smartie! You have a written component and then a practical component. We'll start with the written, of course."

Leaning over to the blank sheet of paper, Yume tapped a finger down on the piece rather dramatically. Words in ink spread across the paper like a ripple, revealing the contents to Megumi. Yume wouldn't be surprised if Megumi was tired of seeing written tests in front of her, but it's the life of the Academy student after all. Luckily for her, at least these had structure and a theme to them, like Yume took them out of the examination book. Wow, wouldn't that be easy to cheat off from if one got their hands on that book.

Test said:
Name:
1. What are the strengths and weaknesses of Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu?
2. What methods can be used to dispel Genjutsu?
3. Give examples of situations when you would use Ninjutsu, Taijutsu and Genjutsu.
4. Where are the main chakra points on the body?
5. If there is chakra blockage (ala Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms), what can be done to reverse it?
6. List three Shinobi Rules.
7. Pick a Shinobi Rule and give reasons why it is important to being a Shinobi.

"You're in exam conditions, so no talking with- oh, there's no one else here. Well, I guess you can talk to yourself. You have an hour to complete the test, Gumi! You may start."

Yume ambled back over to the instructor's desk, examining the books on the shelf behind it. She'd have to pass the time somehow. Picking one out that looked remotely interesting, she was startled at the rockiness of the shelf. Steadying it with her other hand, she pulled out the textbook on the theory of chakra and sat herself down.

The clock ticked away.

Yet again it would seem she would have to wait for her questions to be answered. Megumi’s patients was wearing thin on the idol, as she brushed off her question with the same usual grin. Listening to her as she talked about how the exam would be run. While she did not appreciate the idol belittling the genin exam, as it lowered her accomplishment. It was the second easiest step in the path of a shinobi. Understanding that it was broken into two parts, a written and field test. Watching as her examiner leaned over and tapped her finger on the blank paper, Megumi would see ink forming into the questions of the test. Thinking about what the idol did as i did not seem to be an ink ninjutsu, perhaps a genjutsu. Yume must of placed a genjutsu on her while she entered the classroom, in the guise of surprising her.

As Yume started the exam, Megumi watching the idol carefully as she sauntered back over to the teachers desk. Seeing her take one of the books out of the bookshelf behind her and carefully steading the rickety bookshelf with her other hand as if she was trying to make a scene to get her attention. Looking at the book it seemed to be a textbook which was odd as she could not see the idol reading a textbook to pass the time. Thinking about how it might be a hint on what the test could really be about. However there was no point gathering knowledge you already have, and thinking about how she might be under a genjutsu still it felt too obvious and more like a trap for her.

Looking at the test it was pretty basic, however she could spend years and never fully answer them. Even if they were the basics, but just like in everything the basics were key. Any good shinobi knows that an expert that forgets the basics can be beat by a novice. It was a trap that many foolish shinobi fall into when they get their new toys.

Q1 Everything was a weakness and a strength, it is why most shinobi tend to shore up the weaknesses of their main form of fighting with another.

Ninjutsu is one of the most devastating forms of offense and defense of a shinobi. However it comes at a great cost and is taxing on one chakra network. One could overwhelm their enemies with an onslaught of powerful attacks, however if they are in a war, using all of your chakra on one foe leaves you at the mercy of others. Ninjutsu also requires hand seals minus special exceptions to the rules, but if you disrupt a ninjutsu users chakra flow they will be at a great disadvantage.

Taijutsu is the fastest and most used style of the three, as all shinobi use taijutsu in some form or other. While it does not require any hand seals and is much faster to do than the other to. Taijutsu is taxing on your body and stamina, and if performed incorrectly one can injure themselves quite severely. Taijutsu especially ranged and projectile, are heavily dependent on tools and ammo. Close range taijutsu users also are at a disadvantage as the have to close the distance to attack. Even so expert taijutsu users are extremely dangerous at their respective ranges.

Genjutsu is one of the most under used styles of the three, as most opt to focus on damage. However that is not the only case as genjutsu require extreme chakra precision and a keen mind. A master of genjutsu can control the battle and have their enemies at their mercy. However genjutsu has the most weaknesses out of the three. As it can be countered in many ways, such as breaking eye contact in a visual genjutsu. Cutting off your flow of chakra, being affected by outside forces such as pain, the touch of another and some have said that even a strong enough smell could break the hold. Genjutsu is best used on a single target, but you can also trapped a group, but this increases the difficulty of holding the line between your genjutsu and reality.

Q2 As is stated in the previous question, genjutsu can be dispelled by. Breaking eye contact in a visual genjutsu. Cutting off your flow of chakra, being affected by outside forces such as pain. Also those with certain genetic traits tend to have a higher tolerance against genjutsu, but of course a intelligent genjutsu user can use their confidence in their natural disposition to genjutsu against them.

Q3 As the amount of uses in all three of those fields would take our entire lives to discuss and we would still not have discovered them all. I will state to events an offensive and defensive use of the styles.

Ninjutsu has the most options for defensive and offensive uses, as you could use earth to create a wall to protect you from flames or fight fire with fire and cancel them out. Most ninja only have a select few of the elements at their disposal and have to make do with what they are giving. As a water users could pressurize the water and create a deadly offensive attack or encase themselves in water too slow and disperse the force of a attack.

Taijutsu is at risk to both ninjutsu and genjutsu. Though their bodies are hardened from the amount of physical training they put themselves through, and are usually much more hardy than the rest. Their speed makes up for the lack of defensive options as the are quite difficult to hit with attacks. Once they use their speed to bypass the enemy defenses and attacks. Their devastating blows are unrelenting and usually lead to the end of the fight.

Genjutsu is not as straight forwards as the other to. As it is not meant to damage like the other to, however the damage that genjutsu can cause, is often irreversible as the effects on the mind are not as easily fixed as the body. If you're using genjutsu on a foe, you should have no need to focus on defense as they should not be even aware of you actual position and should be off fighting what you have charmed them with. Offensively you should be barraging their senses and leaving to in a vegetative state.

Q4 The main chakra points are in the crown of your head, your forehead slightly above your eye line. Another in your throat as well as the middle of your chest. Another in your solar plexus, lower abdominal and pelvis.
Q5 The way that the Hyuga, block your chakra flow, is by attack your Tenketsu otherwise know as your chakra points. The chakra system works similar to your blood stream, and you would solve a blocked chakra point the same as you would solve a collapsed vein. Stop the flow of chakra at that blocked point and slowly ease in a small amount of chakra at a time to reopening the pathway.

Q6 A shinobi must always put the mission first. A shinobi must see the hidden meanings within the hidden meanings and A shinobi must prepare before it is too late to.

Q7 Seeing more than what meets the eyes, is how you would detect any unknown dangers to your home and friends. Also seeing past the what could be simply ignored by others, could lead to new discoveries and ways to make the village and yourself better. If you took everything at face value and never questions or dreamed nothing would ever change, for better or worse.

Finishing her test, she would look over her work than look back over to Yume, that was still reading or pretending to read the textbook. Flipping the paper over she would wait for the exam to end or for Yume, to see that she was finished. While she was disappointed in the fact that their were not any questions on puppeteering, she would understand that giving her a test on something she was already knowledgeable of would be pointless.

Yume looked up about forty minutes in, seeing the paper face down on the table and Megumi waiting boredly for her to notice. "Oh! You're done?" she asked.

She stood up from her seat, leaving the book open face down on the instructor's desk and collected the exam. With a quick skim over it, she smiled. Almost like a frisbee, she tossed the paper towards the desk, letting the book catch it onto the surface. Beats walking back to the desk to put the test away by miles.

"Okay good. Alright, come down here, Gumi."

They were a short distance apart. It was time for the practical component. Part one.

"Three things to do for this part. First up, please transform into Oppa."

How would she handle transforming into someone she had only met once or twice? Compared to say seeing someone as often as Yume or Yama, would Megumi be able to deliver the same level of skill? Yume watched her handsigns and transformation, and examined the result from head to toe. Her poker face didn't give anything she thought away.

"Okay, next..." Within the pouch behind her she pulled out a kunai. It spun around her finger like a propeller and Yume looked to be considering something. "Next, is your reaction time and substitution jutsu." The moment the last phrase left her lips, so did the kunai from her hand. The weapon flew towards Megumi, expecting to hit wood. If Megumi was unable to, perhaps she'd get partial points for deflecting or something.

The last task, Yume would have to wait for Megumi to come out of hiding first. She clapped her hands together. "You're doing quite well, Gumi!" she praised happily. The last task... She didn't really say what was needed to be done, but no words were hopefully needed when Megumi's vision started to double without prompt.

The Idol finally took notices, after a few mintuit of Megumi sitting quietly waiting for her to take notice. Yume would ask if she was done, and Megumi would stare at the idol, to give her the obvious answer.

Walking over to the table and collecting the paper, Megumi would watch as she skimmed over it and smiled. Tossing the paper over on the desk, Megumi’s heart felts as if it was going to dropped. There was no way she could of read it that fast, did the test even matter?

Being asked to come down to the middle of the class like a good dog, she sighed at this whole exam and the proctor that ran it. So far it seemed like a basic exam, just like she had said, but why was she the only one here? She was sure that there were other students ready to graduate, Megumi’s mind immediately went to Sara and the older women as they had shown abilities that would rival a chuunin.

Yume would talk about part one having three phases, making Megumi wonder what the second half would entail. First she would ask her to transform into her manager, an easy feat as the man was distinct. Clasping her hands together creating a poof of white smoke. Megumi would step out of the smoke as the manager, with everything from his tough but focused expression. She would wear suit and gloves he usually wore, along with the headset that he never seemed to take off. Looking at Yume she did not seem to be her usual bubbly self. Megumi found it funny as it was so out of character for the idol, however she stayed in her role looking at her with a stern expression.

Spouting out the next part, and tossing a kunai at her. She wanted to see the substitution jutsu, quickly switching herself out with a transformed Kawarii Target and going into hiding. As the kunai hit her decoy, it would show it’s true form as a wooden log but as an added bonus Megumi attached a uncharged explosive tag for extra points.

Coming out of hiding, Yume would clap her hands together and tell her she is doing well. Suddenly her vision started to double. Looking at Yume, with a bored expression as her change in attitude and the sudden drastic change in her vision. There was no doubt that she was under a genjutsu, but she felt insulted that she had made it so obvious. While she did not know the cancel jutsu, she would have to do it the hard way. Making a chakra connection, she would slowly halt her chakra network. As the flow of chakra stopped her vision normalized, but she felt weak and ill as her body was use to having a constant flow of chakra.

Looking out at Yume, trying to not pass out from the shock to her system. Megumi would wait for her to give her a pass on the last part of the first halve. As she waited her eyes would dull as it looked as if she was about to pass out.

Yume immediately stepped forward to steady the girl. The last thing she wanted was for Megumi to pass out on her watch. "You did it perfectly, you can stop now. Don't faint on me!"

If needed, Yume would help her sit down on the classroom floor. The feeling of passing out from some sort of exhaustion was not lost on the idol. There were times that she was pushed to the limit and there were unfortunate times where she found herself waking up in a hospital bed or at home without knowing how she even got there. The only clue was the extreme weakness in her body, so much so that she briefly wouldn't have the strength to speak. Of course, that was Yume's own symptoms. People react in different ways. There was no telling if Megumi would share the same symptoms as her or not, but it was better safe than sorry.

Going over to the instructor's desk, Yume rummaged in her bag for her bottle of water and whatever plastic bag that might have hidden in her bag of wonders. She soon returned to Megumi's side, and uncapped the bottle. "You could stop once your vision stopped doubling, you know, instead of waiting on my okay. Here, have a drink. Bag's there in case you feel sick."

Yume sat opposite her and observed Megumi carefully. She was still looking slightly pale; there was no way Yume was going to allow the exam to proceed as is. It was just a genin exam after all, pushing to continue would only happen with a chuunin exam.

"We'll wait until you feel better, and then we'll continue. It'll be a spar for the final component."

In the meantime, the older girl sat with Megumi. It could be in silence, or Megumi could use this time to ask all the questions she had burning within. Yume half-expected something like that to happen today anyway.

Yume would stop and steady her as Megumi put a little too much effort into the test. Giving a faint smile at Yume as she told her not to faint on her. “ I won’t i just need a second”. Megumi recreated a connection and restarted her chakra flow, the dimness in her eyes would give out to a more focused and alert stare at her friend holding her and helping her sit down. At least one good thing came out of her overkill on the last part of the first half of the test. She knew that Yume did indeed care about her as a friend. Maybe she was being to closed off and paranoid, but she had never really had a friend, as she knew that there were people that would take advantage of her in the form of friendship.

Yume would live her for a bit, and go and get her a bottle of water and a bag. Hearing about how she could of stopped as her vision returned to normal. Blushing in embarrassment as she got a little to carried away. “ I just wanted to do well and not stop until you said that i passed”. Megumi would feel a little dumb at her actions, as it would of made since to stop as the genjutsu was broken. She was still a bit pale and weak, even if she said she was alright Yume would not let her continue.

Yume talked about how the last test would be a spar, Megumi looked at Yume as she knew that their was no way that she was going to beat her. She would have to use this time to think of a plan to weaken her and immobilize her. As they sat in silence, Megumi thought over her plan of attack. Every moment and placement would have to work perfectly, and with a little bit of luck she might win this thing.

Megumi was so deep in thought about the fight she almost forgot about the questions she wanted to ask her. Looking at Yume to get her attention, Megumi try and think of where to start.  Know it’s none of my buisness, but i would like to know more about you. After all we are friends but i don’t know anything about you, all i know is your career”. Looking down at the ground, “ If it’s something you can’t answer for vilage reasons i’ll understand. I know this question might seem dumb as i already have an idea why, but why do you hide that fact that you are a ninja and why am i the only one you’re testing. I could name plenty of other students that are more skilled than i am”? Megumi would listen to her words, she obviously had her reasons, but she wanted to confirm her suspicions. Megumi wanted to ask more, but she did not want to waste her time. Standing up she would show that she was ready in body, but her mind seemed to be concerned with something else.

Of course, she would go straight to asking about her secret job. It was going to be a given after all, wasn't it? Yume smiled at her, and brought a hand to her chin and gave thought, as if she was considering the right words for the right answer. She had no intention to lie this time, but she wasn't going to spill out everything either.

"I guess you could say it's because of village reasons, and personal reasons. Think of it this way... not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but I have some reach internationally," she replied with a wink. "If they caught wind that I'm a kunoichi--even if Leaf knew I was a kunoichi--it'd spark some controversy. Imagine the conspiracy theories that'll pop up."

She sighed, more to herself than anything. None of that was untrue, as she intended. If anything, being known that she was a ninja would hurt her idol career severely. Like breaking a fanboy's fantasy if she got herself a boyfriend, being known as a ninja broke more. Being accused as a spy, fake, secret organisation brainwashing to name a few possible conspiracy theories. There was no end to people's paranoia.

"As for your exam. Sure, there might be students that are more skilled than you. But you were literally the only student this graduation period that had completed the requirements for an exam. The others... Um... Well, they might be able to make next graduation period. I just wanted to personally see your performance, hehe."

The academy was slacking, she thought with a shake of her head. Pushing herself onto her feet, she hopped about to shake away the pins and needles in her legs. "Well, we can talk about this over tea sometime later. Your colour seems to have returned so we'll continue."

Megumi had seen this before. Instead of handseals, Yume clapped her palms together in prayer. With a kind smile, she laid out the final rules of the exam. "Use whatever you have in your repertoire. The time limit is five minutes."

A second after the spoken rule, Yume's body appeared to be phasing out, glitchy like static. Her self had stepped out of time, curious to see the opening moves Megumi decided to do to her.

Listening to her reason about why she hides her shinobi status. As Megumi heard about how she had connections in the leaf and how it might spark controversy if knowledge for her shinobi status became public knowledge. It made sense as she performs in other villages if they knew she was a shinobi, booking and touring would be problematic and her popularity would no doubt drop. Though she only mentioned the Leaf village and did not mention any other. Who and what was Yume and why would she becoming a shinobi be problematic for the village. Megumi would think on the past shinobi she read up on in her studies. Could one of her family member or clan done something to the Leaf and now she has to pay for their sins. Could she be the daughter of a samurai!?

Thinking about how she might be related to those that killed her family, caused her hate to rise to the surface. She would try to calm herself as she did not have any proof, of her heritage and accusing her with no evidence would be foolish. Squeezing the bottled water as if it was a stress ball, Megumi would look at Yume with a calm expression hiding her hatred of those that ruined her village and family. “ Yume, if hiding your identity was so important, running this exam for me and spending time with me has already compromised your indignity. If you wanted to keep it a secret so bad, you would of never giving me the light of day. It does not make any sense”.

Listening to Yume as she said that she was the only one that had to meet the requirements to graduate. Megumi found it odd that she was the only one that has met them, and that Yume had access to that information. Shaking her head at the Idol as she stated that she wanted to see her performance. Looking at Yume as she stated that they could talk more over tea. Standing up while the idol was getting the blood flow back into her legs. Thinking about embracing the Idol, as she thought back to how nice it felt when Yume hugged her back when they modeled together. Opting for a simple pat on the women’s shoulder and a wry grin. “ I think you should hold back as you're making yourself look more suspicious. How about we just stick to a friendly chat over tea. I trust that your not a threat to the village and when you want to tell me the truth I'll listen”. Taking her gently grasps off of her friend as they readied themselves for the last part of the test.

Facing each other on in the classroom. Megumi would not be able to go all out inside as she did not want to damage the academy. Yume would clap her hands in pray as she stated the rules. She would give her five minutes to use whatever she could”. As she stated the rules the idol’s body would become look as if it was phasing out of reality. Megumi did not know what she meant by five minutes, was she giving her five minutes to see if she could inflict damage on her. Or was it five minutes of free time before she would retaliate?

Megumi had to think of something fast as she was on the clock. She was expecting a sparring match, not whatever this was. Thinking back to when the idol used that hand sigh before, however back then it was to create a barrier. This was much different from the wind barrier she used on her. Judging by its appearance, perhaps it was another genjutsu? Slapping her hands together she would halt the flow of chakra in her body to break the genjutsu. However, nothing seemed to change. Restarting her chakra system, she would think on what it could be. Perhaps a clone and the test was on how much damage she could produce in a short time.

Seeing as how her opponent was not going to fight back, Megumi would enact her plan with a few steps taken out. Drawing her scroll and string her puppets, she would use her support puppet to shoot oil around the otherworldly Idol. Passing out all of her chakra wires, and lining them with every last explosive she had on her except for one explosive tag. Making the puppets and wires dance in between and then above Yume. as Megumi cross-linked the wires through one another making a wall of razor-sharp wire. Sending the razor wall down at Yume, she would charge the last explosive tag. Holding the explosive tag as the fence came crashing down of the specter of her friend. The oil would make it harder for her to move and keep her balance as the fence would push down on her. Megumi would have the tag at the ready to turn the classroom into a ground zero if Yume tired anything.

Yume blinked and gave a sheepish smile at her accusation. She scratched her cheek, unsure of how to respond to her friend. Though that didn't matter. The young girl readied herself for the spar, but when the signal indicated the start of the fight, Megumi did something rather peculiar. For a few seconds, Yume stared blankly at her as Megumi set up her explosive tags on the wire, all the while hopping away from the pools of oil.

She wasn't a clone.

The idol landed in front of Megumi, her glitching body phasing back into real time and the physical world. "You have a very impressive set up, Gumi!" she chirped, straightening the gloves on her hands. "But I, nor a real opponent would wait for you to finish it."

Her hand struck out towards the hand holding the explosive tag to intercept it. If unsuccessful, Yume would continue her barrage of hand strikes, a scene familiar to one of their very first meetings. It'd be a good minute until one wrong step onto the slick of oil caused Yume to slip and fall on her rear.

"Whoa! Ow!"

She whimpered and whined, her persona switching back to the ditzy idol everyone knew and loved.

Megumi did not expect her to move, and her plan fell apart. She thought this was about a impactful offense, and not an actual sparring match. How and why would they fight inside of the classroom, did Yume know that she would hold back inside. Easily dodging the straightforward trap and taking the tag from her Megumi would tense up and block to lessen the damage that would ensue. The Idol revert to her regular form and cide her for not correctly setting up an attack while she sent a flurry of punches at the wide open puppeteer. “ True but in a real fight, i would do things differently. I misinterpreted what you instructed and as a result my plan did not work as intended”. Feeling the power of her friends strike were nothing short of excruciating, bearing the pain, as she worked her puppets back to distance herself from her foe. Making sure to free the puppets hand for their attack.

As Yume continued her relentless barrage, Megumi would take the pain, as a lesson to never hold back as it could mean her life or serious injury. The Idol somehow took the tag from her as she would chipping away at the young puppeteers defense. After what felt like an eternity, taking the blows to her arms made it difficult to correctly control her puppets. However she had gotten them into striking range. Yume would move to put more strength into her attack, but she slipped on the oil and fell on her backside.

As she whined about her sudden fall, Megumi would pounce on her foe and have her puppets hold her arms down while the other sat on the Idols legs. Pinning the older girl down as Megumi put her weight on Yume’’s torse. The puppeteer would give her friend a devilish smile, “ Don’t let your guard down in the middle of a fight”. Leer at her friend, she would tickle the girl’s sides till she gave into her torment.

"AHH! No! Stop! Stop! Ahahahaha!" The girl cried with laughter, wriggling and squirming helplessly at the tickle torture. "Alright, you win, stop!"

When Megumi finally did, Yume laid there catching her breath and easing her hurt sides. Laughing hurts. Eventually, she sat up, then stood up.

"Well, that ends the exam," Yume said, dusting herself off... well as much as she could with oil on her back. She walked over to the instructor's desk, leaning over to reach for the one thing Megumi was looking for this entire day. Straightening up, she turned only her head to look at her friend with a bright smile.

"Congratulations, Gumi!" she chirped, a glint of light sparkled on the side of her face. Yume held out the Konoha headband for the newly appointed Genin to take. "You've officially passed the graduation exam and have joined the shinobi ranks as a gen-!"

In. The last syllable was barely heard, or it wasn't uttered at all. The glass of the classroom window shattered along with a loud bang, throwing shrapnel along the floor and possibly in someone's eye if they weren't careful.

Yume was frozen in place, as if the shock hadn't passed yet. She suddenly stumbled, free hand grasping at her chest as visible blood pooled out from between the crevices of her fingers. A visible hole was there, indicating the entry wound. She was shot.

"W-What...? W-who...?" she gasped. The girl tumbled over, hitting against the rickety bookshelf by the instructor's desk before collapsing on the floor. The headband fell out of her hand, clattering towards Megumi's feet. Because of her collision against the bookshelf, it wobbled precariously and toppled over.

This was not a drill.

Easing up on the Idol as she proclaimed her defeat. Sitting atop her pinned friend, Megumi got off of her and wwaved her hand to release her captured foe from the puppets grip. Giving Yume had hand as she helped the girl off of the oily ground. Helping her as best she could dusting and trying to make the oil covered girl. Megumi even got a bit of oil on her as well, when she pinned her friend for the kill. “ Sorry about the mess, i would not want to be the one who would have to clean this up”. Giving Yume a joking smile as Yume returned it with a glowing smile as she congratulated her and held out her ninja head band.

Megumi would pause as she looked down at her very own headband. All of the work she had put into becoming a ninja had finally paid off. She doubted that Yume could understand how much this meant to her. She had finally done it, now she has to live out to those before her and bring her clan back from the point of extinction. If shinobi were allowed to show tears, Megumi would be balling her eyes out.

As Yume was about to finish her congratulations to her friend, the sound of glass shattering almost as if it was her world crashing down before her eyes. Megumi’s blood ran cold as she saw her friend get shot right before our eyes, the surprise and shock as the colour and happiness fading from her features. Megumi would catch her friend as she hit the bookshelf, a clink from the headband would echo in the now dead silence room. Megumi would stare wide eyed as she screamed out to her friend, while she used her puppets as cover. Feeling the sticky red liquid run and cause her clothes to stick to her skin, she would yet again be a bystander to the death of those she cared about.

Pushing her feelings and fears down, she was not that defenseless little girl that stood paralyzed in fear as her family was cut down. She was not going to let anyone one else die on her watch. Using her strings, should would clog the wound and slow the bleeding. She did not have the know how to treat a ballistic wound and she did not have the tools anyway. All she can do is give her friend more time. Megumi was not physically strong lucky, she had her craft to make up for her weaknesses.

Having her support puppet carry Yume, while she used the other two as cover for Yume if they tired to finish the job. Scraping her hands along her strings, she would create multiple groups of clones of them to mask their presents. Adding more illusions to hide their presents further. The small battalion would move out under the cover of a wrathful and pained melody. Her emotions poured into her art and created such a soul wrenching sound that would cause a chill down even the most seasoned shinobi's spine.

All that mattered was getting Yume to the hospital, and she would not let anything stop her from achieving that goal. Yume won’t die she can't Megumi would not let her. She is one of the only friends she had in the world.

Yume could only see darkness, feel burning and at one point, heard a bloodcurdling scream of her name. If she wanted to scream in pain, she couldn't. If she wanted to move and escape, she couldn't. Someone moved body for her though, with a song and cry of sorrow so chilling that in her half-conscious state, she wondered why that was so. The darkness turned to dreams, in the comforting embrace that only a mother could give. Black hair ticked Yume's cheeks, as she hugged tighter into the scent of incense.

The scene of the shooting... If someone were to discover it, after seeing the messy ninja wires and puddles of oil, the first thing one would notice was the small bloodstain by the bookshelf. A couple of textbooks had fallen out, scattering the floor along with the glass shards of the window and one lone ninja headband. Yume's bag was still here, filled with notes and snacks.

Following along the line of the shoot, there was a tree placed across from the window. Someone would have to angle their position just right, but the shot can be made regardless. Of course, the shooter who was camping there would be long gone, with no evidence left behind but a single rifle shell.

The academy would have their work cut out for them for repairs, but it was just an inevitable thing to consider. Students spars can go wrong all the time.

Seeing Yume. tightening her grip on her puppet, gave Megumi some relief as her friend still had strength left in her. She only had to hold on a little longer, as the hospital was in sight. Whoever attacked Yume, did not seem to be following them as, they most likely fled as they were in the middle of the village.

Reaching the hospital and crashing through the door, “ I need help, she has been shot”! Megumi would waste no time and immediately get help for her friend. The nurses on staff immediately brought out a stretcher and brought the idol into her care. Megumi wanted to go with her friend and make sure she was okay, but she had work to do and being around her might only make things worse. Megumi did not know who or why someone tried to kill her or if it was her fault. However she would take it upon herself to figure out the who and the why.

Leaving her friend made her heart ache, but she new that Yume was i good company. She would come back to check on her and get the medical report. For now, she had to gather as much evidence as possible before the village took over.

Arriving back on the scene it looks like the village peacekeeper have not cased the scene yet. Looking over to the blood stain on the toppled over bookshelf, made her hope that her friend was okay. Looking over to the headband, her happiness from becoming a shinobi did not seem so important if it was at the cost of her friends life. Picking up the headband and look at her reflection in the metal. Some shinobi she was that she could not protect her fellow leaf. Placing it in her pocket, she would hold onto it until she deserves to wear it.

Carefully moving around the crime scene, she would look through Yume’s bag. Apologising for invading her privacy, she would only find papers on the curriculum and her favorite snack. A tear fell down onto the bag soaking into the fabric. Yume went through all this trouble to help her and she was rewarded with a shot to the chest. Wiping her eyes she can’t cry as it helps no one. It did not help back then and it will not help now.

Nothing of note seemed to be in the classroom, maybe shooter left them something. Standing where Yume was shot, Megumi would look at the angle of the window and the broken area. From this position the only viable placement would be a tree that set up perfectly with the window.

Leaving the classroom, hoped that she could at least find something. She did not have much to go on and only a few suspects that she planned on questioning. Yume’s manager and her training were the closest to her, maybe they had an idea of who would want her dead. Also the head of the academy as he would know that Yume was holding an exam for her. Searching all around the area and the tree she could only muster up some trace amounts of gunpowder and a rifle shell. The shell had no markings that shown the model and caliber, Megumi could tell the type of caliber and bullet it was from a simple glance. However this means that the shooter creates his own weapons and ammo. This would make it more difficult, but she knew that he was a gunsmith and used a rifle, that information was better than none. She could also get fingerprints off of the shell, but if the shooter was not in the villages records then the prints would be useless.

She had gathered all she could find from the crime scene. However it was not much she needed i motive and the shooter still. Megumi had a few hypotheses, but nothing concrete. For now she would have to hope that she could learn more about Yume through her manager and why someone wanted her dead.
