Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kikijo nodded to Kenshin and smiled as he thought of the quickest way to get to his Uncle's portion of the family pond. With an evil grin he placed his one webbed hand on each of their shoulders and once contact was made summoned a reasonable amount of natural chakra before humming in a manner that only a toad or frog could. At first it seemed like they were going to teleport again but no something wetter and wilder occurred as a massive vortex of water appeared beneath their feet and yanked them into a water-slide made completely of water itself but controlled, hollow and full of beautiful sweet air. As the water whisked them away they emerged from the water vortex's tunnel mid air above a tranquil pond where Kikijo promptly landed on said pond with them without breaking the pond's clear surface or causing a splash. He stepped away from the pond into the light silt of his family land. "I hope you enjoyed our water tunnel. Welcome to Wind-lily pond and my Uncle's estate. He is nearby sunning or talking to a tree. Whatever you need, let me know and I will make haste to retrieve it. He may call you by some odd name just go along with him and make sure he does not lick you. That would transfer some of the poison to you. I am your back up in this matter so please do whatever you believe is necessary."<i></i>

Kikijo bowed before Fenrir and Kenshin in supplication with deep hopes that they enjoyed the water tunnel travel senjutsu.

Everything was fine until the water enveloped them and spit them out like chewing gum in mid air over a pond. Both Kenshin and Fenrir fell int othe water with a splash and both made their way to the ground. Fenrir shook his coat grumbling about having to groom himself to stop the wet dog smell. Kenshin just used some fire jutsu to warm himself.

"A little warning next ime but it was ok enough." Kenshin would smirk and look around.

"Right I need five buckets of water and all the medicinal herbs you can gather or have handy. Additionally, I will need a sealing scroll if you have one ready. I will need one syringe and 5 bowls. Fair warning, I may have to use a genjutsu on your uncle to put him to sleep. This is so I can remove the poison form him without him trying to lick me? Would this be ok or should i do it the difficult way?" Kenshin would ask politely. He would wait for a response before going on.

"This will happen in quick order so I need you filled in as to what will happen before I approach him. I will extract the poison form his body using those 5 buckets of water. In each bucket will be the poison. I will seal the poison into 5 seals. Then, I will draw a vial of blood from your uncle. I will divide that blood into the 5 bowls. I will have to move quickly. I will take the blood and mix it with the herbs you have in different quantities. We only have 5 shots to do this. With each solution made, I will drop it on the seal. If black smoke happens, the poison remains and the poison is gone. On a success, the seal would just disappear. We could then take the concoction and simply keep adding water to it to replenish it. Should you run out, I can teach this poison extraction jutsu to some of your medics. Follow a similar pattern as to what I do here and we should have a solution to not only this poison but any other poison you might run across. Would this be successful payment for saving my life Kikijo?" Kenshin would ask.

Kenshin would then get ready. Fenrir would watch on. Kenshin would begin the steps he outlined to Kikijo once he got the go ahead. If Genjutsu was ok, he would use Temple of Nirvana to put the toad asleep then use the steps. Otherwise, he would use poison extraction and then body flicker if he was tried to be licked.

Kikijo would nod and turn to the clear water and place his webbed hand down atop the water. Two water clones emerged and then took off only to return a few moments later with everything that Kenshin had requested. Kikijo would then walk them to the small hill that was his Uncle drunken off of his own senjutsu and overpowering himself he had almost turned to stone several times over the years but Aunty was always ready to whack him with her natural chakra displacement staff. It was then that Kenshin would notice that Kikijo's aunt looked a lot like Orochisu except her hair was white. Fenrir would notice that they smelled alike too, but it was obvious that this woman was Toad Clan as she had webbed hands. She had received instructions from Kikijo's water clones and stood at the ready to knock her beloved out should he try to stop Kenshin from attempting to cure him. A massive spear lay just off hand but well away from Uncle Samuu. It was just as well that he could not reach it. He was dangerous enough by chakra standards alone.

Kikijo would nod to her and then bow to Kenshin, "Everything is prepared and we are in luck that he is asleep, Aunty is ready to knock him out with her mystic staff should he act up. You may begin your process when you feel ready."<i></i> It was then Kenshin and Fenrir would note exactly how large Kikijo's Uncle was. At over fifty feet in length and twenty two feet wide at the waist the giant toad they now found themselves walking upon was fast asleep. His body was being warmed by the sunlight and as such he was harmless at the moment. If he was enraged that would be a completely different story as Fenrir and Kikijo could feel the vast amount of natural chakra flowing through his tormented gigantic body.

Kenshin would nod at Kikijo. Good. No need for genjutsu so he could focus. He was a giant man but Kenshin knew where poison liked to infiltrate. He circled the body a few times with Fenrir.

"Fenrir. Watch him. Tell... Aunty... when he acts like he is going to move. Your wolf eyes and senses are sharp. If he goes for the spear, stop him." Kenshin would say.

Fenrir would nod and then take a position somewhere between the giant sleeping toad man and the giant spear, his eyes trained to look for any sign of movement from Uncle or Aunty.

Kenshin would prepare a bucket of water and his hand would grip the water like bowling ball. He would carefully approach the sleeping uncle and put the ball of water on the giant. It would slowly seep in and Kenshin would focus on moving the water he focused his chakra into his poison extraction jutsu. After a minute, he pulled out the ball of water where a black substance would be floating in it. Again, Kenshin would repeat this process at a different location on the giant toad man. Each time, he would be getting less and less of the black substance until finally the 5th buckets only had a few drops in it. The giant toad man should be feeling a lot better now. He sealed each bucket of poison into a sealing scroll and left it stretched out for him to work on.

He carefully used the syringe on the old toad man, body flickering away if he was attacked before being hit or licked. He would draw a big pull of the blood. He divided it evenly among the small bowls and then started diving into the medicinal herbs.

'First, a mixture of aloe, amla, and turmeric. Something basic' For anything he needed ground, he did it by hand. He would activate a couple of his chakra gates and then crush any ingredient he needed into powder. He mixed he ingredients together and mixed it with the first bowl. It came together in a brown sludge. Shaking it a little more, he poured a little onto the first seal.

He was met with a puff of pitch black smoke. Kenshin waved it away and used a small wind jutsu to blow it away. The smoke was harmless just annoying.

'First time never works but I have to hurry. The blood will loose its potency.' Kenshin thought as he pulled out the next ingredients

'Rhodiola, maitake, and a pinch of milk thistle. I'll add some dandelion for good measure.'

Again, he crushed the ingredients and mixed it together. He placed just a drop on the seal. Black smoke appeared but it was less pungent. In fact it smelled like....

'So dandelion worked! One ingredient down. who knows how many more left.' Kenshin thought

The third and fourth seal continued in the same fashion. So far, dandelion, cinnamon, and butterbur were all ingredients that worked partially. The problem was that KEnshin was down to the last seal. If this did not work, he could not make an antidote.

'Think Kenshin. If dandelion, cinnamon, and butterbur were all useful, was there something else that rounded it out? What was it? There was something missing. He was running out of time and he needed to do this. This was personal as well as for someone who was expecting something of him.

Then Kenshin saw a few of the leaves there on the table and grabbed them. Buchu leaves. He remembered that Buchu leaves helped make some powerful antidotes to a poison he had made. It was a strong tonic by itself and combined with others it would do wonders. He crushed them with the other ingredients and placed a dro pof the solution on the seal.

A moment passed.

Another.

Another.

There was no reaction. No black smoke. The seal slowly disappeared.

Kenshin signed heavily and put the remaining mixture into a vial he had. He always carried one for emergencies and this was a special one. He infused chakra into it and the liquid seemed to stop moving momentarily. He would release his chakra gates and approach Kikijo.

"It is done! This vial has been activated. So long as the liquid stays in this it will not age. Place a drop into some ordinary water and give it to the next person or animal that falls under the effects of this poison. It should work." Kenshin would say beaming but looking a little tired. He had used some chakra to do all of that and keeping Fenrir with him was draining by itself.

Kikijo would notice the strain on Kenshin's chakra system with his special eye and react by empowering him with natural energy which replenished his normal chakra tenfold and gave him strange runic markings for 5 seconds but otherwise Kenshin should be feeling pretty good and Fenrir would notice the gesture of thanks as well.
Orochiti would sigh and take a seat as Kikijo's Uncle would shrink down to a normal human size. He was now a five foot tall man with intense muscles. There was a faint green tint to his skin but he slept soundly as the scent of pestilence faded away leaving only the scent of the antidote which was like a flowery alcohol. Samuu would sit up, truly awake for the first time in almost 8 years and look at Orochiti and lower his head in shame.

"My love I am sorry to worry you, I should not have snuck up on your sister and disturbed her research. How long have I been in a healing trance?"
Kikijo already knew the truth and had left the stone tablets with the elders but to hear his uncle apologize gave him quite a start.
Orochiti would sigh and reply. "You have been under the effects of the eternal dream poison for 7 years."
Samuu would begin to cry, "So I do not have a daughter named Orochinu and a son named Osamuu ?"
Orochiti would cry a bit too now that she understood what he had been dreaming about under the poisons truth serum effects as she shook her head, "No but we can work on that later, your nephew Kikijo has been searching for my sisters and a cure. He found them, found the truth about what happened to you, and even managed to find a poison specialist during his hunt to cure you. I would hug him if I had not already cursed him with one of my eyes just so he could find Orochisu. Now that he has stopped a clan feud it is probably time that you grant him full rites as an adult."

Kikijo would fall to his knees in traditional supplication. "Elder Samuu. I present your savior Master Kenshin of Konoha and his teacher Master Fenrir of the Wolf Clan. They helped me track Orochisu and reveal the truth. Kenshin was able to make an antidote for your poison. His ambitions and deeds have been set in stone and sent before the council. What is thy bidding my master?"

Samuu would wipe his face and take a single left knee before Kenshin and Fenrir. "Thank you my saviors, please tell me of yourselves and both your ambitions so we may best reward the both off you ?"

It was revealed why the aunt looked so familiar. She was related to the snake clan members. That made sense since she smelled so strongly of them. That was also the connection that no one talked about. Kenshin could see how that would escalate to a clan war if no one had found the solution. Kenshin was glad to have stumbled upon this when he did. If these two clans were anything like the Canine clan, things could get out of hand quickly.
Kenshin would stop and help raise Samuu form the ground.

“No please. I was simply fulfilling thre promise I made to Kikijo. He saved my life from your wife’s sister. It was a misunderstanding and I was only lucky to be saved and offer my help. Please sir, since you ask such a question, let us sit and talk. I am not one who tends to stand on formality but allow me to indulge momentarily.”
Kenshin would kneel as would Fenrir.

“I am Yuu Kenshin from the village hidden in the leaves. I am an instructor there wehre I train the next generation of students. I am also the personal bodyguard to the Hokage. Thank you for inviting me to your home.”

“I am Fenrir, Alpha from the canine clan. I have a contract signed with Yuu Kenshin and I act as ambassador to the canine clan while I am here. Thank you for inviting me to your home.”

Kenshin would then sit on the grass enjoying the sun himself. He always trained outside. It reminded him a little of the canine clan’s place but this place definitely liked the water which made sense.

“You ask me of my ambition. It is both complex and simple. Simply, my ambition is strength but not for the reason most seek it. I have had many losses in my life. I lost the love of my life and close teammates. If I had been stronger, I might have been able to save them. I was not. So I train to better myself everyday but the main reason is so I can pass along that information to the next generation and to protect them. We are nothing without the next generation. I am sure you feel that way about Kikijo. I teach my students the skills and abilities they need to survive in this harsh and cruel world. Some consider my methods extreme but the world in is extreme. I train students to survive. I never deliberately hurt them but they must know what pain feels like before they go out into the real world. For myself, I train every day. I train with Fenrir every day to keep both of us in shape. The fact I have a contract with Fenrir is testament to what I will do to get stronger. Part of my training has also unlocked my ability to go even further beyond the constraints most humans have when it comes to power. I push myself for the reasons I gave you. I will always fight to defend those who cannot. It was one of the reasons why I was promoted to Hokage Guard. I am the Hokage guard no others. I am willing to defend those under my protection with my life.”

Kenshin went quiet for a moment. His gaze did not falter and as if responding to his words, his chakra seemed to flare for a moment. His true strength was revealed for a moment before going back to normal.

“Indeed. I can vouch for Kenshin as both as a friend and as a representative of the canine clan. You of the toad clan know that we value loyalty above all else because the pack is everything. Without the pack, we die. Adding Kenshin to our pack was as simple as taking a breath. He proved himself with his words and as his actions. Every night, he trains the pups of the canine clan under my control. He is stern and playful. The pups respect him so do the betas and we alphas. He has made good on his promises to us and in return we fight for him. Should he need me in combat, I am a jutsu away. Also, as representative of canine clan I offer a request of an alliance. Of course, this will be needed to be talked about with our elders but I can officially say it to you. Kenshin has proven to be key in our pack. Our pack is stronger since he has joined us and he would be of a major benefit to the toad clan should the need arise. As you have seen he is skilled in poisons but his true strength lies in taijutsu. Known only to a few, he is skilled in genjutsu as well. So he is proficient in ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu. As Alpha, you know my role is to protect my pack and Yuu Kenshin does nothing but make it stronger. My ambition, therefore, is to protect the pack and Kenshin is pack. As he would lay down his life for me, I Would lay down my life for him. If I should fall in combat, I know that Kenshin would take care of my pups and betas. This is my ambition Samuu of the Toad clan. To protect the pack with my life and to serve Yuu Kenshin.”

Fenrir, who had been standing during his speech, sat down all the way and resisted the urge to sun bathe in front of the present company but he did allow himself to enjoy the heat even if it was damp with so much water. He would need to groom after they left.

Samuu would note their ambitions and nod to his wife and she would nod her ascent back. "Kikijo, you have done well as part of the Wind Toad family we are genetically the most adaptable and have been able to solidify our unions and allies through marriage and blood sharing. While my wife and I have not had true children of our own yet Kikijo was able to accept a serpent eye and my wife was able to absorb toad vitality allowing her to assume multiple forms not just serpent or humanoid. If we had clan ties with the Canines we could grow hair and stronger teeth. I have no daughters to give but Kikijo is available to bond with any females you might feel compatible with a love of water and hunting from the trees of nearly any kind of forest. We specialize in ambush tactics and camouflage unlike your clan we have not the physical capacity to pack hunt due to our cold-blooded natures and varying physical needs. Lessons and enhancement from the canines would enable that. I am not a full elder so I cannot decide on a full alliance outside of my own immediate family of which their are currently two dozen. Six adults consisting of my wife, myself, Kikijo's mother, and my remaining three brothers as Kikijo's father fell in battle long ago. I have ten Juveniles under my watch, they are Kikijo and his siblings all boys. The remaining eight are all unhatched eggs that will be ready to hatch in three more years the first hybrids of our family which my wife and I eagerly look forward to. Although I have actually already dreamed of and lived through life with two of my future children so I have much to look forward to. With your antidote to the eternal dream poison a great many elders can be released from their greatest ambitions in dream form to realize them in reality. We cannot thank you enough so we will honor you as best we can. Kikijo will become the ambassador to the Canine clan if Fenrir will have him. We will work out a specialized contract after conferring with the elders as their power will be needed to create the sealed document. Kenshin we will escort you and your companion Fenrir before the elders. They may test you to prove your worth but after your current deeds they may not. We shall be off once my wife and I have renewed our vows and I have checked on our eggs. Please excuse us."<i></i> Samuu would step away and hug Orochiti, her white hair wrapped around them both warping them away to their hidden egg creche. Kenshin would now understand how Kikijo gained the ability to warp.

Fenrir would grin.

"Yes that adaptability is most useful. When we were on less friendly terms, it saved many of your kin from my clan. To think a toad with fur! Next thing you know, they will grow teeth and truly be unstoppable! "

Fenrir would laugh, little barking sounds made in short order.

“I am the same, I cannot speak for everyone in my clan. My immediate family and pack has a few alphas and betas. I have many litters of pups. Of alphas, we have six and betas a total of 8. We are lacking in partners for some. Some arrangement would be need between the two clans of course. Toad and canine clans are made up of different hierarchies so it would be a little difficult to equate things but we should be able to reach a compromise. I welcome to have further talks later.”

They disappeared using a similar technique that had brought them there. Kenshin and Fenrir would both relax a little.

“Well Kikijo it looks like at least Fenrir here will be seeing more of you. Thank you for saving me.” Kenshin would say and bow.

“Indeed. He can be so reckless. Thankfully, it ended well for everyone.” Fenrir would say.

And so Kesnhin would remain sitting on the ground waiting for Samuu to come back and escort them to the elders. He used this time to contemplate life. When he had left Stone he had two tragedies. First, he had lost of his teammates in a bandit ambush. He had somehow survived that attack and since then he had trained. During that time he rose in rank and succeeded in many things. Marrying someone who he thought was ok at best who turned out to be perfect for him. They formed a 3 man team that did many missions together. It was perfect until his all… his friend turned on him. He was not as good at medical jutsu as he said he was and… it cost him everything. It almost cost him jounin status because of his outburst. He lost his lover and his best friend forever. Coming to Leaf was a move of desperation. He left everything. His entire family was left behind. He got lost on the way to Leaf even! Since then, however, life had taken a mostly upward turn. He was promoted to Sennin and he had been teaching classes, something he loved to do. He had some successful students. The Hokage Umashi disappeared, which put a damper on things, but the hew Hokage put her faith in Kenshin so much he was promoted again to Kage Guard. He was the only guard member. That is how much she trusted him. It was an honor. Then he met Fenrir and the rest of the canine clan. Fenrir had been a true blessing. It was a reliable companion that he could count on to not only talk to but train with and gain stronger. There was also his breakthrough with training that let him go even further beyond his natural limits. That was dealing with a family member that had gone rouge and nearly got some of his students killed. He was thankful that things turned out ok. There was the incident of the student dying at the gates after going on a rampage. That was a regret as was letting Umashi go. How he had met the toad clan and helped them solve an issue that was going to escalate into a clan war among two animal clans. That would have been devastating.

“Kikijo. We have just met but I am very happy to have met you. You seem like the reliable sort. If you ever need my assistance, please let me know. If you show me to your healers, or have them sent here, I could teach them the poison extraction jutsu I used. That would allow them to neutralize most poisons you come in contact with. But that is beside the point. Again, if you need me let me know. Let Fenrir know or contact me when you are able. I can over protection or almost anything else you need. Regardless of what the elders think or say, know that you have an ally and hopefully a friend in me. I have found in my travels and trainings that companionship is important for personal growth. From what I witnessed you are now an adult. You will need to make friends growing up. And of course you need to maintain those. Something I teach students is working together. Along the way, during a dark time in my life, I had forgotten that even though I taught it. It made me weaker than what I was. I have no excuse for weakness and I do not tolerate it. The fact you went out to save your uncle and saved my life lets me know you are strong. Companionship is something that you don’t think is important especially when you are younger if I do say so myself. Working with others allows you to depend on them. The feeling of knowing someone is watching your blindside is comforting and reassuring. It allows you to go all out. My fighting style is very much like that so I have to watch myself. With Fenrir I can fight to my heart’s content and know that someone is watching out for me. You need to find some like that. But look at this I have gone on and on. I imagine your uncle will be back to escort us. Let us go, friend, and see what your elders haveto say about me. Hopefully it is positive!”

Kenshin would laugh out loud and stand, waiting for the judgement. Fenrir, next to him would stretch and stand as well.

Kikijo would return rather quickly with Uncle Samuu and Aunt Orochiti in tow as the sky filled with clouds and took on the visages of 3 Toad sages. Lightning and Thunder would roll before a light misting rain would form and walking from this rain which never touched Fenrir or Kenshin would be three shrouded individuals two men and one woman by the shape of them but their straw hats hid their faces and only the bottoms of their chins was visible as they all spoke in synch. "We the toad sages of the Wind Toad clan approve of your deeds and great ambitions... as such we offer you favor with Samuu's family. When the time comes choose a companion or companions from among us and know that we will forever be by your side and as you already have Fenrir we accept his token and grant him the same privilege in return for the assistance of one of his own kin. Thank you both for your aid and your deeds. We look forward to your greatness and the benefits of our mutual aid to you both."<i></i>

Just as suddenly the sky cleared up and with the mist dissipating so did the sages. Kikijo placed a giant heavy scroll before Kenshin...The Paper of Michiru is large and heavy, bound around it many layers of parchment to which an unknown amount of names have been signed to. The dark red paper has a waxy texture, and the scroll seals at the last roll to ensure it is fully water resistant. Its smooth outside feel is only matched by the inside, which ironically enough- always remains like dry land, a full embodiment of the frog's proud ability to live on both land and water; the contract can withstand almost anything.

He nodded to Kenshin so that Kenshin may choose his own way to sign, chakra, blood, ceremony, exchange of seals all were in Kenshin's favor.

OOC:Congratulations, you have earned the Toad Contract, please create a companion/companions (hivemind) at your own time and pace.
Sign this contract in whatever manner you wish.

Kenshin would find this very similar to his trial with the canine and thus it ended similarly. He would bow, as would Fenrir, to the elders. He decided it was simplist and most direct to do what he did with the canine clan.

Kenshin would bite his thumb and with the pouring blood, he would write his name on the paper.

"I hereby sign this contract with the Samuu family. I will strive to serve them as they will serve me. May we both learn a lot from each other." Kenshin would say as he finished, letting his body seal up the minor wound with ease.

And thus Kenshin would feel the contract being made and he knew he had another strong ally in times of need. He smiled and Fenrir smiled a toothy smile. They both nodded and would leave when told how to leave the toad village.

Kikijo would then surprise them both as now both his eyes had changed to match his Aunt's and his faux hair now reached his mid back. With a couple of hand seals and a strange yet surreal welling of massive chakra Kikijo, Fenrir, and Kenshin would find themselves back where their adventure had begun with Orochisu waiting for them in human form. She would bow before them and Kikijo and leave another scroll in a show of good will at having her name cleared it was a map to a sacred spring where natural chakra was very abundant. A place where Kenshin and his allies could train. Without a word, sound, or scent she blended into the forest around them having partially perfected her camouflage jutsu she continued her efforts to achieve perfection.

Kikijo would pass the scroll to Kenshin
"I think she likes you Brother Kenshin..."
