The night air and the artificial sun was starting to synch up as they both cooled down bringing on the night time of the village. Lights began to turn out from all of the windows of the Crystal District as a rather odd couple walked the small distance from Sousuke’s House to Tama’s.
No doubt they got stares once again just as they had a few months ago when he had carried Okibi back to his house but at least this time they were truly stares of pure envy; at least from men. Some of the women held the same looks as they pondered at the couple that was walking, carefully, back to the small house that annoyed the crap out of most of the homeowners there.
Also unlike last time the blonde didn’t hold one bit of embarrassment on his face but instead had this look like he had been holding himself back all night and he was finally able to relax a little. It was true in a lot of ways too since he was on his ‘best behavior’ since he had just spent the night with the Kazekage and his ward. She had made it really, really, hard to keep his cool that entire time and at one point still managed to knock him out in public.
Yet despite this a smile was plastered onto his face as he held the lithe Wild Child next to his body with one arm hung low around the back of her waist that had a playful hand whilst the other one had an open bottle of rather expensive rum.
He wasn’t taking any chances.
It didn’t take any convincing to get another bottle of liquor on Okibi’s part since it seemed to be the only way he could cut pass some of those inhibitions that were keeping them from…well, ‘doing their thang’. He wasn’t sure if she had caught on to that yet but it should already start to show with how close he was happily willing to be there with her and just how ‘playful’ that hand was getting with the hem of her skirt. Every now and then his head would lean over onto hers and just lay there on top as his super metabolism sucked down the poison and injected it into his system.
Tama really hoped she didn’t think he was turning into an alcoholic or anything. He had spoken some very brave words earlier that would land him in a world of trouble if he couldn’t back them up soon…and with the gifts he had gotten her she was probably all over him with affection. The gifts themselves were not easy things to obtain either and one of them he had spent the better part of last week making for her too. The materials had all come from outside the country and one item in particular had cost him a lot of yen to get imported to Soon since it was…sort of illegal. Well, at least the original intention of the device was illegal. The blonde had of course made quite a few edits to thing turning something that was truly sinister into a beautiful thing.
Raising the bottle to his mouth to take another swig in the attempt to drown out some of his bubbling nervousness that occurred when he spotted his house the scientist moved his arm away from Okibi to fish for his keys.
He had the jingling metal in his hand by the time he reached the door and stopped in front of it to slowly slide the key into its hole and turn the locking mechanism. Before he opened the door however he turned to push his back against it and smiled coyly at the girl that had a little bit of a drunk in the corners of his eyes.
“I hope you’re ready for this…cause it is about to get really, really intense…” He winked at her and turned the brass knob behind him that pulled back the latch and pushed the wooden barrier open to reveal darkness…
…and a special scent.
After they walked in and the door was closed one would notice that there was a small glowing warmth radiating from the living room. The source of the scent was coming from in there and once the two rounded the corner leading into the rest of his house Okibi would see where it was coming from. Hundreds of candles littered the kitchen bar, the coffee table and the dining table as the entire house was completely cleared up of any and all papers and books; they had been moved down into the hole for fire safety.
The smell of these candles, though, was the gift. It was the same candle that had been used when they made a funeral of sorts for Seven all those months ago and they all smelled exactly like that one. Built up from materials from the border of Wind and Fire country so that they could copy that exact scent the scientist had gone through no small expense to do this. Each candle was held in a glass container that looked to be the size of a drinking cup that promised their longevity for the years to come. While she was, hopefully mesmerized by both the sight and smell, Tama would come up behind her and slowly wrap his arms around her waist and lean his face close to her ear,
“I made them. All two hundred of them though only half of them or out here…the rest are in the bedroom at the moment…and there is still a couple more presents for me to give out…”
His hand lifted up and pointed to the center of the coffee table where a small package was wrapped up in a circle of candles. The paper was red and gold and on a small white tag that hung off the side were the words “from Tami, with love. May you never be lost with this.”
