It was so strange. Life in mist had ended, life had really ended everywhere on the islands. Now this place that Hissori had called home was frozen in an ice age. Instead of the warm, sunny tropic whether, the whether at its best was unlivable, and at its worse something that would kill anything that stepped into it. Everything had left these lands, and if they didn’t it had died. Now, the only species that was left in this area were humans, and the humans that were leaving, were either trying to escape as quick as they could, or slowly dying. Hissori was a mixture of both.
On one hand, Hissori was moving as quickly as he could to escape the cold. He had no slept since he had left the village. For Hissori it felt like a life-time ago that he had abandoned his now frozen village. In reality, it had been five days. Still because of the lack of sleep, Hissori had found himself starting to question everything, which fell to his other hand.
Hissori was starting to wonder whether or not it was even possible for him to escape this cold. More importantly, he was starting to wonder whether he wanted to escape this. He was leaving his home, and he was going most likely die with never seeing his home again if he was successful ay getting away. Add on top of that the scare he had almost as soon as he left his village, by nearly losing his dog Buru. He was almost certain that if he did lose his dog, he wouldn’t be able to find him again. The thought of just going to curl up in a warm position, with his dog Buru, and just enjoy the last few hours they had together.
Even with these thoughts crossing the mind of the sixteen year old Hissori, he kept moving. Little did he realize, but the temperature was starting to get a little bit warmer as he moved. Soon, Hissori did not have to channel his chakra in between his body and parka. Maybe he stopped because he was tired, or maybe he stopped because it really was getting warmer, but Hissori did not which was the correct reasoning. Still, it was cold, but at least now Hissori and Buru might not die. As Hissori walked, he realized that the snow had stopped falling, and the wind was starting to slowly die down. Maybe, just maybe, he was going to survive and get out of this crazy whether alive.
“Don’t worry Buru, we are all most there, we are almost safe.” The teenager said he went to gently rub the tired snow colored dog ears. In response, the dog gave a low annoyed whine. Of course, Hissori understood this to be his companion asking for food, and asking to rest his tired paws. Quietly, Hissori would reassure his dog that soon, soon they’d get to rest. In the darkness, Hissori could not tell if it was a day, or maybe longer than a day but hissori slowly continued to walk. Then something amazing happened. The sun finally peaked through the wall of deep grey clouds that had carried all the snow and freezing weather.
“We made it.” Hissori said with a happy gasp that left his chapped now pale red lips. Soon, Hissori started to feel the heat of his home. Certainly, it wasn’t but no means hot, and it surely wasn’t warm, but it felt like Hissori and Buru was not going to die. However, new problems started to arise after he got out of the snowstorm. Now, Hissori and Buru had to deal with an incredibly thick wave of fog that started to engulf the pair.
“Just stay close Buru and we will be fine. It isn’t like the storm.” Hissori said as he yawned. As they walked, Hissori still could see his breath from just outside his emerald green eyes. Unfortunately, now that he was out of the life and death situation, Hissori’s adrenaline was starting to leave from his body. Tiredness started to fill his body, and the medical chief knew he had to stop to rest.
Finding a tree, covered in snow, Hissori felt that this was a safe place to rest. He gather dried wood by breaking off the branches of the snow dusted trees around him. He started a fire. The fire was nice on both tired boys. Hissori would just rest a moment, before he reached into his bag and pulled out a scroll. With a little pop of chakra, Hissori revealed many different drinks, and dried meats.
“Come here Buru.” He said picking the dog up and placing him across his lap. Carefully, he began to eat and feed his dog. Never before had either of them been so hungry, and soon, most of the scroll was gone to the wolf-teen and dog. With the pair having eaten, Hissori and Buru began to drift off to finally get some sleep. The fire blazing, and Buru curled up on his lap, Hissori looked like he finally could be relax and be happy. Of course, this nap left them open for something sneaking up on them, and their exposed food.
