Within a glass case something stirred within the waters. Something not right. Something foul. On the other side of a glass case stood a shadowy figure. That figure spoke to the foul creature in a dark and terrible voice. "You and I have been fighting for a long time." An older female voice spoke. "You may be some spawn of a filth recently destroyed, but you are something of a fragment. A part of something bigger, and that something is what we the descendents of the First Men have fought time and time again. Your weakness will be found, and it will be exploited. Filth like you will be thrown to the fire to be burned to ashes." The voice continued to speak.
A series of lights would turn on revealing the speaker. She wore a brown military coat with several stars and decorations. These were various awards given to the individual for several acts of valor. The cost of such tremendous acts were demonstrated by loss of limb. The left sleeve of the coat was not present, rather it ended about mid forearm. The sleeve was folded and stapled up. In addition to missing an arm, the individual also wore an eye patch on her right eye. Perhaps what was most stunning was the features of the individual aside from her scars from war. Her hair was more grey, but there were still some streaks of violet present. Her left eye was a familiar tone of deep blue if one was familiar with one Masashi Chiyoko. Like Chiyoko her features were fine, but they were aged somewhat gracefully.
Why exactly did this person resemble the mother of the Steward? Well that was probably in due to the part that this was the Steward's grandmother. Masashi Mako, a member of fourth division. She was one of three surviving members who were forced into retirement. Did forced retirement stop Mako from occasionally operating in today's world? No. Mako had a habit of ... reminding and embarrassing people about their shortcomings when it came to a particular exam she was known for running. When her grandson tried to suggest that she shouldn't run the exam anymore due to the high fail rate, she promptly reminded him that not only did he fail the exam at a 51.1% grading (a pass was 60%), that even his mother failed at 47.8%. When reminded of his own shortcomings, the Steward said nothing and merely let his grandmother proceed with the test.
So three of the younger and brightest members of Suna were to see her today to attempt success at one of Suna's more difficult exams: Battle Craft. Mako was promised that she was going to be testing some of the brighter students and genin. The two genin she had gone over report wise. Surely, surely her grandson was kidding. Ryuu Tama and 'Okibi'. Ha. Brightest? That was Sousuke's opinion not hers. The last one was an academy student. She reminded him of her grandson in that she was a weapon and armor smith of sorts. Something more traditional compared to her grandson's gadgets.
Best and Brightest? Or Worst and Dimmest? It was time to see. It was time for the school of hard knocks to take off, it was time for Battlecraft.
