Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The blazing sun beats down on the smooth, weathered rocks of the cliff side. The crisp seaweed pushed onto the rocks by the waves, lay baking at the sea's edge, occasionally moving with the tide. The clear blue sea's waves rattle the tiny pebbles embedded in the golden sand. The noise from the gulls in the background of the busy streets of Iwa flood the ears of everyone. Yochi and Souji have already recieved their mission and were told to meet up at the village gates before departure, to ensure that they had everything they would need for the mission at hand. A small group of children ran by playing some sort of kick ball while laughing and screaming with joy. It seemed today was a nice day for a mission. Souji and Yochi were to travel to the outermost regions of their land to pick up a delivery of machinery and goods for the Medical Chief Ii Hissori. They were being ordered from the village of Sunagakure, and needed to be escorted back to Iwa so that the hospital could get up and running. They were also told that the equipment is very rare and expensive and could be seen as a bounty for eager thieves. Hopefully nothing would run amiss...

Souji found his way to the town just outside the main city of Maruishi. A small town on the outskirts, by the name of Akasora. Souji had done some work here in the past but he was thinking about this mission entail and he knew that there was alot of money being poured into this new age of Medical knowledge being placed into Stone. He didnt much like it at all, stuck in the old Shamanistic way of doing things and with the facts aligning themselves with a few of the new ways. It was tragic to see this happening, but Souji was doing his part to make Iwa grow right? His morals would definitely be in question. He was his father's child so alot of him detested the new way of medical prowess. It was slowly making Shaman magic obsolete. This 'chakra' unlike what life force was being taught to the youth. Souji felt like some eighty-year old man in a sea of younglings working their way to make things efficient while he was just sitting there thinking, 'Get off my lawn.' Oh well though, Souji would think about this... he had many ways to get this done and maybe it would be for the better.... in due time.

Yochi was trailing... but he hadnt met up at the designated rendezvous point here in the city yet, so Souji with a light satchel and his scrolls attached within his garbs would manage himself in a style that he was getting comfortable with. Maybe they would enjoy this... Maybe. In time you'll be my best friend. In time.

Days in the Hidden Village of Stone where passing slower than Yochi liked. Even though he had had filed for several missions, he received answer from none. He started to worry that maybe the a different age had come without him to notice. An era were shinobi where that much of a use. It seemed strange to him that things where so quiet while he heard stories that other Hidden Villages where destroyed not so long ago.

The shinobi had decided that it would be a bad idea to pass his time idle and took the road for the mountains in order to train his jutsu, and taijutsu near beloved rocks, without the worry of someone being hurt, or even worst bothering him. Yochi though was though surprised to been told by his landlord, that an envelop came with his name one. The paper was having the details of meeting point and talking briefly about a mission. It seemed that Stone still had use for him. The only thing was… the time of the meeting had expired some days already. The coincidence was unreal! Now that he was out of the village training, it was the time mission came in. Maybe he should taking trips more often, the missions would start pouring like crazy if that’s the way it was.

Even though it seem that someone was waiting for him already. Losing time wouldn’t be a good option. The other party member would wait a little longer, Yochi had to prepare his equipment. He had learned previously the hard way , that not being prepared is one of the most dangerous things for a mission. Once ready, the shinobi equip his favorite sword and took the road to the place they were supposed to meet some days ago. He was wondering if the other shinobi would be still there. It took Yochi about an hour to get to that place, and started to look the people around. He knew the name of the fellow shinobi but not how he looked liked. Yochi was wondering, how would be his new partner be like ?

It would take the two high ranking shinobi a couple of hours of quiet walking to get to the Akasora town. By the time the pair would get there the town, the sun was high in the sky as Souji and Yochi entered the quiet little village. The village itself seemed to be to be well off, and in good spirits. The pair though were not on some slow paced romantic vacation, but they were here on a mission. Heading to the opposite side of town, they would be finally meeting with a group of merchants that were taking care the medical equipment.

“Finally! It felt like months since these things have arrived.” a gruff older man with a long beard joked towards the two soldiers of Iwagakure. He would push open a door two reveal three large carts that seemed to be stacked to the brim with medical supplies. He would give an order of those carts to be pulled out of the large warehouse.

“So lets get going with you? Which one is leading? I would assume one person would take the front, and the other one would take the back?” He said as he yelled at a young boy who was fashioning up a horses to the cart to hurry up.

The sun was high on the clear sky. Having no clouds to fog the mighty star, the rays where showering the Iwagakure shinobi with no end. As the shinobi was moving with his new partner, he couldn't help but think several issues. Something was bothering him. One could think that the reason of his trouble was the person next to him. The other Iwagakure Shinobi named Souji, seemed bit different than the rest of the bunch that Yochi had met. But still if t he heads of the village would trust him on this, then he would go with it.

What Yochi truly feared was who could target them on the way back with their cargo. If someone would attack them, it might mean that a person had leaked information. There could be a buyer to benefit from that equipment. In that case maybe in the village there was someone that had rat the movement of the medical equipment to a third party for some coins. These kind of people always exist and some times can become very useful.

No matter how interesting was to consider situations and hypothetical scenarios though, Yochi had to focus at the matter at hand. Akasora town seemed to have movement and to be a nice place to stay. But the pace of movement couldn't be reduced to enjoy the site of the town. There merchants where waiting them in the location that was given to the paper. An old man referred to them and showed them the cargo they came to take. After that he followed with a series of questions. Yochi looked at Souji for a moment.

“I will be leading the mission”, answered Yochi. “I will be at front”, he continued looking around the surroundings. The shinobi was hoping that his defensive ninjutsu would be enough to protect their cargo from any assault against them.

“So, let's get going”, said the shinobi once he was in the head of the column, trying to beat the ominous feeling he had.

Shaking his head this guy seemed to be waiting for a while for this. Souji didnt much care to be honest. He didnt want to be here in all honesty. Why were they changing the ways of the village for the foreigners? He heard about the sways of the Shamans being overruled by new medicine. It left a bitter taste in Souji's mouth. He believed in the old ways. It was why he didnt conform to the ways of ANBU, he respected the work... but it didnt mean he had to like it. Either way, Souji knew that he wanted to see this mission through, but it wasnt something that he was going to wallow in as if he had done the village some great deed. He just hoped that the Daimyo and the Kage knew what they were doing approving these missions. He'd hoped they even knew about it. Yochi seemed to be taking the lead in this mission. 'Pushy guy eh? Gonna stare at me as if to size me up and claim to be the leader?', nodding a bit he knew where this would go.

"Aye, he's the leader... but whats the briefing?", shaking his head, Souji would look to the lad prepping the steeds. "Is there anything about the area we need to know? Groups of hostiles we might encounter...? Any points of interest? Anything at all we need to know before we move a foot?", Souji'd stare the man down as he'd question him then turn back to Yochi and smirk, "That is of course if you are wanting this information... or you're wanting to go in like we have blindfolds over our eyes?", snarky. Souji wasnt here to make any friends today, he was annoyed enough. And with the sun out as it was... he'd shudder. The Shadows were around him waiting to be used and abused but he wasnt one to be 'one in the sun'. He was an indoor smoking hookah and drinking tea type....

Oh well, lets see how this goes...

The man would tap his foot impatiently as the pair seemed to take a minute to decide on which one was leader. However, it turned out that Yochi would claim the title as mission leader. With that the man walked over and giving him a strong pat on the back.

“PERFECT! I will enjoy talking to you!” He said as he started to the front of the now carriage. He would stop though and turn to the other member of the village.

“The briefing is pretty simple. I have been travelling here from the Wind country by the order of a Mr. Ii Hissori in order to recover these materials. However, as of recently, we have received intelligence that states thieves might be wanting to steal and sell this medical equipment. So I have requested and hired you two protect the medical equipment on this journey back to our village.” He said as he did not wait to set out.

For the first hour, nothing seemed to be happening. However, after getting out of the city and into the hilly valleys of Iwagakure, there seemed to be an odd lack of people on the road, strange.

Yochi looked at the man and raised an eyebrow. “Thieves? What kind of thieves?” asked the man trying not to sound to formal. It would be interesting to know if these “thieves” had a particular technique that they were using in order to be identified.

The shinobi stopped for a second. It had hit him. Not long ago he was attacked in the streets of Stone Village by a group of thugs. But they where not the ordinary pick-pocket ones. They seemed to have some battle tactics and could even seriously damage a shinobi. It was only that it was two of seasoned shinobi that they managed to fight them off and stay unharmed. And Yochi was sure that without his summonings and his partner's puppet the outcome wouldn't be good at all.

Realizing he was lost in his thoughts, Yochi made sure that he wasn't blocking the road and hurried to be on the front again.

The shinobi of Stone looked ahead on the quiet road. One could hear the sound of the caravan breaking the silence of the lonely rocky hills. Something was wrong. There was that weird feeling before battle he was having before a conflict. At moments he would look with glances at right and left like something was there and ready to strike. The ninja rest the wrist of his right hand on the tip of the hilt of the sword. Maybe a tell of the uneasiness he was feeling being on the edge, or a sign to anyone who was brave enough to try the might of the two Stone shinobi.

The hot wind was blowing against Yochi. The shinobi would inhale deeply like he was looking to smell something that would make him alert. A excuse to let his jutsu fly against the invisible enemy. Yochi looked at the back of the caravan for a moment, looking at Souji. It was like he wanted to make sure that the shinobi was there. But Yochi knew that a Stone shinobi wouldn't leave his post. Maybe he was worrying too much. But just to feel sure he let a small pulse of chakra from his feet. The Earth wouldn't lie to him. If someone would come to close, he might have a chance to know it after all.

Yochi was right to ask. Though Souji kept his cool and kept quiet for now, this seemed like a death trap waiting to happen but with everything inside him Souji would manage to do a few things prior that would give them an edge. The Birds flying overhead would give him an update on what was actually going on around here. There wasnt many people on the roads so it would be easy to spot thieves attempting to get at them and wreck them. There had to be a plan ahead, and with everything that was going on, he would have to make sure that they were safe. It was only two of them, so he would have to make sure that things were going to be taken care of efficiently. "Hm.", a thought popping into his head as Yochi's chakra would pulse into the ground Souji would look up to see if the fowl had found anything...

If so they would react accordingly, Souji was ever the strategist. He had preparations for this mission that would alst them four days of consistent fighting. There wasnt much else he could do with the limited information he was given but by deductive reasoning Souji didnt trust the Caravan leader at all. So, everyone but Yochi was subject to a lack of trust within Souji. Either way, he was not about to lose his cool just yet. The hilly plains of Iwa seemed to... disturb others when they were like this. However, there was always a logical explanation to these situations.

“The rumor is, a gang from the Inner Marushi has been looking for a buyer for these goods. As such they have hired a bunch of thieves from the surrounding gangs have been hired to steal these goods for them. You know all the plausible deniability of not attacking a government escorted convey, and most of the reward.” The man said shrugging a bit before finishing.

“It is a perfect plan really. If it fails, there will be no way to trace an attack back to them, but they will be paid well if the attack succeeds.” He said as he leaned back in his cart.

For the next mile or two the group traveled in relative quietness. Besides the sounds of horse hooves’ hitting the ground and the wheels of the cart turning not a sound was made. Maybe this would continue all the way to off in the distant a cart seemed to be stationed off the side of the road with a couple of people bending over by the front wheel. Nothing seemed wrong with it, but there it was. Could this be a trap? Who knew? But to the keenest of eyes, there seemed to an artificial glint tracking them.

The next part might seemed quiet to the rest but it was music to him. Every step closer to Iwagakure was to their advantage. Most attacks, especially the thugs preferred, would use an element that would interact with you, stop you, talk to you, or even attack from the front. With this decoy they would use an other element from the sides or the rear. It was most important for them right now not to become stationary. Barricade themselves would serve the enemies, and with their numbers being unknown it seemed a bad choice. Though, Yochi's Earth jutsu would allow to lock off a vast area. Still they had to keep moving no matter what. Fighting while moving might be preferable. Though he was not sure how durable the equipment might be.

His thoughts where interrupted from the sounds ahead. Some people were trying to fix a cart. A feeling of danger washed all over him at once. He couldn't help himself to shoot a fast glance at left and right with the corner of his eyes. Simple folks honestly having a problem or a distraction from the “First element” of the attack? No matter the answer, the shinobi had to be prepared.

“Keep moving no matter what” murmured the shinobi to the old man.

Yochi was about to turn his head to look at Souji but he stopped once he had his head turned to the side. He was sure his fellow shinobi knew very well what was going on. Or at least he hoped he did. The shinobi moved himself in the position of the caravan that would allow him to virtually be between the caravan and the cart that would be repaired. There was no doubt that the men would try to ask for assistance, and he was trying to thing the most proper reaction. But the only physical reaction he had was to have his left arm on his sword hilt. Someone might look at such a movement as a weakness. And that's what Yochi wanted. The best case scenario if these people where their thugs would be to consider Yochi a nervous sword fighter. With that degree of being underestimated they would be surprised to see jutsu flying around. But on the other hand, only a fool or a strong fighter would dare to go against the famous Iwagakure shinobi.

For now the shinobi walked forward, parallel to the caravan, taking his time. Soon he would know whether easy part of the journey was over or not.

There wasnt much the shadow user would do aside from listen to orders, they were just about in the free if they kept it moving and with everything going down. So Souji would simply nod and move forward. He didnt need any items but he did want to cast a few ninjutsu. If anything got bad he'd have prepped actions that would trigger, dodging and bodyswitching. With also summoning the giant pool of Mystical Shadows. With that he would have to let the Gods above take the wheel but he could do nothing aside from tread on no matter what. He's even move to Yochi's shadows and continue from there.

The order was to keep moving no matter what and that was exactly what they did. Quietly, they moved. It didn’t seem that the group was going to have any problems from the seemingly broken cart as they soon became parallel with it. In fact, one of the men on the ground gave a nod of acknowledgement to the older man who was driving the cart. This all changed though when the cart carry the medical supplies got past the other cart.

With noise of something cutting through the air like butter, the back right cart wheel exploded. In the center of the axel was an arrow that seeming destroyed the wheel completely. Out of the cart seemed to four members of the group that had been in the cart. One had a sword, another had a pole arm, and the two other had daggers. This made seven people whom the duo of the shinobi would have to face.

“Just hand over the equipment and no one has to get hurt….” Said one of the taller men with slicked back hair.

“You must protect me. I am to young to die!” Said the older man on top of the cart. For some reason the two on seven odds were surprising even in some people’s eyes.

Have fun. Fight it out. If I need to mod another round of fighting I will, but if you guys just want to show off your skills and roleplay killing them and what not. Go on ahead.

Yochi slowed his pace, allowing the first cart to pass him. He wanted to be near the medical equipment when they would pass near their new “friends”. Though they didn't seem to make a move until now, the shinobi couldn't beat the feeling of uneasiness. Maybe it was that he just wanted to get for a second away from the old man and his boring stories. That man could go for hours talking without saying any meaningful. Truly it seemed like it was an art-form he had mastered. The carts with the equipment where almost there and Yochi started to follow them.

Things started to happen at once. Stuff started to explode, bandits started to appear and threats where flying around. Ah, being ambushed how much had he missed that feeling. But it was not time for romantic thoughts and chit chat. Their attacking pattern was though interesting. It reminded him, when he was ambushed that fateful night with Katsu in the alley. Could there be a connection between the two bands?

The thing about threats, is how easy they lose their power when you lose your leverage. What the Stone shinobi feared was that the medical equipment could be harmed. So, it seemed that easier way out would by blocking it off the thugs their carts. Yochi let his hands form a series of hand seals and struck the ground with his palm. The earth started to shake and in front of one of the medical a stone wall was raised. At the same time next to the stone wall a hand made of rock came from beneath, and a Rock Golem started to came out. The Rock Golem once fully manifest would charge the bandits. The Stone shinobi continued the hand seals and striking the ground. With his second move an other stone wall was covering now the side of carts. At the place where the bandits were a series of Earth spikes started to come out of the ground at a random pattern.

The shinobi hoped that he had their attention long enough for his partner to move and do his own moves. Yochi would still do one last move to try and catch their attention. As he finished the hand seals of his last jutsu, he looked at his enemies with a smirk on his lips.

“I am coming for you” he said in a teasing voice as his body started to sink under the earth with Inner Earth Reflection Lure. The idea was simple. He would get underground and attack them with the first chance from behind. If they tried to react otherwise, they would probably get more information about their abilities.

Actions:
Rock Golem Jutsu
Earth Spikes Jutsu
Inner Earth Reflection Lure, moving towards the bandits and attack from behind if possible.
Golem attacks bandits
The Earthen Wall barriers are placed in front of the carts with the medical equipment.

And with that Souji would smirk, the immense amount of chakra he had been building up for this event would come in handy. Nodding to Yochi Souji would manage to expand a field of shadows over the ground allowing all of the ones that Yochi left to his disposal to sink and fall within. It was then that the eerie sounds of Souji's dark chuckling would come forth. He was going to let loose, allowing the pond of shadows to grasp the inhabitants. It was becoming more apparent that Souji had a side of him that he could not control at times. The darkness of his seal. The Seal he used to keep up with Haruka's power. And maybe now... Maybe he had surpassed her. Maybe he was strong enough to take his place in history. Though with the dripping shadows suspended in the air the bodies of those ambushers swirling about before Souji clenched his hand into a closed fist.

From there the dome would enclose on them, compressing their bodies but only leaving one, the rest would be crushed and suffocated, "Come out come out whereever you are~", Souji spoke in a solemn sing-song tone before releasing the shadows and allowing the bodies to fall freely to the ground. "Yoichi... What do you want to do with the rest...", nodding he would allow his shadow to come up around the man's neck and begin to strangle him until Yoichi gave the order.

There were screams, lots and lots of screams. It seemed that the thieves had under estimated the power of the shinobi. Maybe they should not have been bragging about the money they were going to earn from this heist. Anyway it did not matter because they were honestly getting destroyed.

It would all start with the ground starting to shake. Soon out of the ground came a large earth golem. It would pause for a moment as if it was getting its surroundings before he charged forward. This caused the bandits to scatter, as they obviously had very little training. During this time, the ground was beginning to shake again, and the first bandit fell.

Out of the earth shot the spikes, and one of the bandits got impaled on it. Coughing off blood, he cried out to be saved, but no one would come. Soon the noises were more gurgling noises as fresh blood came up from his mouth and spilled onto the brown soil. Then soon there was no noise heard as his body hung there limp. This didn’t last long though as the golem had in his grasp two more of the bandits.

Unlike most shinobi killings, the golem did not have style or tack. With two bandits in either hand the golem was squeezing them and watching them closely as he thought about what to do. Then the golem opened up his mouth and bit off the head on the bandit in the right hand. With the blood squirting from the neck like a chicken with his head cut off, the body was dropped the ground as it spasm there. The golem seemed to be complentating the taste of the human before he took the last bandit and slammed him face first into the ground, leaving the third bandit a bloody, broken, and dead stump.

The rest of the bandits were seemingly dealt with in a much more humane way. There was no noise coming from the death of the three bandits who were crushed in souji’s shadows, and it seemed the only one that was left was having the life choked out of it by the man’s shadows. In about ten seconds the when limp and was choking stopped. It seemed the seventh and last bandit was unconscious.

When the Rock shield would fall the two shinobi would see that there was only minor damage done to the cart. Yochi would give the final word on the seventh ninja, but after that there was going to be free sailing until they got back to the gates of Iwagakure.

Mission Accomplished.
Mission accomplished! Good job guys, it was a pleasure working with you.
