This place, it had an eeriness to it she had felt before. A tingling feeling had started not that long ago that she couldn't ignore no matter how hard she tried. What was causing it, what debilitated her focus, she couldn't be sure, but she decided to keep the feeling to herself. After all, why should she bother her friend about such. Maybe he was feeling it as well? Maybe it was just the chill from the cold, still, she trekked on with Jomei, what ever he was after, they were after, she hopped it was more important then living the village behind in the condition it was in. But, at least she was getting the chance to see a new place, even if it was..a dessert in essence.
The first storm was minor that they faced, but it was a new event for her while on a mission, and with only a small tent, a friend instead of her parents, and the lack of her stuffed animal to keep her warm and company. The wind howled, making it difficult to sleep. The movement of the cloth that surrounded her, the small fire warmth, and the berries that barely filled her stomach weren't helping her get much sleep. She was exhausted from the long trek, having to carry so much equipment, given her size, was an ordeal. 'Come out to the coast, we'll go together, have a few laughs.', she thought about what he had said before the start of the trip. She stared at Jomei, some contempt in her eyes. 'Water Country was a beach islands paradise, it will be fun..' "Bologna". She watched as he was soundly asleep. "Pfft, WAS" She kicked him and he stirred awake, and she acted like she was asleep for a moment. He nodded back off quickly and she watched the sides of the tent waver. That continued until she too fell asleep, eventually.
Morning had come, and she heard the sound of something creaking. She looked out to see a white creature going through a bag in the tent and stood up, yelling at it. The dog like thing grabbed some food and took off outside and she jumped to her feet, yelling causing Jomei to groggily get up. "Yo, something just took some of our food." She yelled as she exited the tent as well giving chase. She looked around, seeing the dog like thing running int he distance, she ran towards it, as fast as she could. The ground waved, the creature running down a very small hill. She reached to tip and looked down, unable to see it anymore. She looked carefully around, unable to see where it had gone. Behind her, she could hear Jomei yelling out. She slid down the small hill and stomped around, the snow deep here. "It couldn't have gone to far.. Come on out, I won't hurt you." She continued to look, then activating her Byakugan. For some reason, she, couldn't find it? That didn't make any sense? She looked around moving her head, an unneeded action, but still. IT, what ever it was, was hard to distinguish from the snow, but she saw a very small puff of light. She deactivated the skill and looked, seeing a bare minimum outline. She reached for it and the creature barked and ran away, dropping what it had in it's mouth and jumping into the scenery yet again.
End Memory:
She knew, things out here were not as they appeared. That feeling, she eventually found out was an overwhelmingly odd type of chakra that seemed to seep from the very area all around. The creature, was hard to see because the area was slightly flooded with chakra. The snow itself, having small amounts in it. Or perhaps it was absorbing it? She wasn't to sure but she decided that had to be the reason. And everything, at least what could survive knew how to use it to there advantage. And that feeling, it had grown when she was in that temple and ran into those twins, though it had vanished for a moment, that was when the attack had occurred. She still wasn't to sure what they were. Spirits perhaps? Gods? What ever they were, they had a good amount of control over the area, enough to mask their presence, and to influence those around them somewhat. She was the one that had decided to stop and make camp at that spot in the temple, feeling at ease, a feeling she hadn't felt since coming into this place. A feeling that she knew now to heed, as a warning... Something was out here, somethings were near. And she was sure, something was watching her now..
The sloshing through the snow was tough, taking twice as long to get to the location as it would have on straight and narrow land. The ice turning into snow, a sign of hope perhaps? It meant it wasn't as cold here or rather, it was a steady temperature, and water cascaded from somewhere nearby. She made it to the craggy area and looked up, the ice reaching 50 feet up or so. She cold see the indentation of a cave, but it wasn't very deep as she had originally thought. She looked down, this time seeing a bigger cave. Sara looked back, unsure of the reason why. Something, somewhere, was watching her, she could feel it. But what and from where was unknown to her. Was it evil, or was it on her side? Maybe it was both? It could have been neutral for all she cared, as long as it wasn't ill intentioned right off the back. Sara looked down and jumped, the fall short enough that she was now on a ledge that led into a deeper cave. Cavernous it was , the opening, leading into an area of soundless isolation. The icicles reaching down for the top of the opening, like jaws of a monster. She ventured into the dark. Her eyes took a moment to adjust, it much more brighter then one would have imagined. The light seeming to reflect off the ice, lightning the area enough to allow vision without her increased awareness afforded to her by her chakra infused vision, an unneeded necessity at the moment. The cave grew in size as she ventured further within. She could swear she could see light on the other end of the tunnel, but it seemed to bend as she moved to the edges of the cave. It didn't seem straight, the cave looking to curve, but light seeming to be on the other end, why? She couldn't grasp the reason, taking a break for a moment to catch her breath and warm up. Her breath seeming to become smoke as it exited her mouth, though it hung in the air, wisping and churning as she let it out. It wasn't being disturbed by another source, but of her own breath, the motionless and silence of this cave, she could hear her own breathing now echo from the walls.
It was still cold, but it felt warmer, something she would have understood greater if she knew how the icicles from the ceiling, and ground were formed all around her. If she searched long enough, she might even find a lake within this ice fortress. She just didn't understand such though, a tear forming on her face and falling to the ground. She couldn't help it, the sadness of the stillness she could afford overtook her at that moment. Thoughts in the back of her mind warping her need to continue. She was safe for the moment, most likely, affording her thoughts to venture into the background of her subconscious. She regretted coming to the icy hell. She thought venturing to the unknown wilderness that was the world would be nothing but fun, playing, new animals, friends, lakes to swim in, sights to see, and every other good humored ideal that was always floating around such thoughts. But, her first adventure didn't turn out as such. Well, in part. This world was tough, cruel, and unyielding, but she had managed so far. She had seen things that most others might never see, the odd beings of this place were unique in some light. But it was still harsh so far, and being alone, brought those thoughts forward. The light dimmed as she thought such thoughts for a time of unknown duration. By the time she snapped out of it, the light dimmed greatly, but still she could see a short distance. She got herself up, whipping the cold, slightly now like water on her face off and ventured deeper into the cave, trying to find what the light that she could see at the end of the tunnel ahead might be.
Time passed as she continued on, her stomach growled some, fighting that feeling off as well, to what avail that would be. She would have to make camp soon, but for now, the light seemed to be more important to her for some reason. She had tried to activate her Byakugan some time ago, but the sight afforded nothing. The room bent, the light bent, everything was not linear. She traveled, what felt straight, and yet curvy. She looked back again, feeling something behind, but only hearing her own breathing. She would come to the light soon enough, whatever it might have been.
