The teenager felt like nothing could take him down right now yet there sat in his stomach a most nervous bug.
It was nearing midnight in the village of Sunagakure. The Crystal District’s nightlife was starting to get into what was known as the “Heat” of their night. Loud music thumped a loud bass into the streets that could be felt underneath the feet of patrons as shinobi DJ artist used a unique form of music and ninjutsu to produce electronic sounds that seemed almost alien the first time a person heard them. A whole block of the district was dedicated to these high-end party clubs and crowds of people waited outside in lines to get in.
About two blocks down the road away from the clubs was the late-night high end restaurants that businessmen and well-to-do socialites of the night conducted transactions and pitched woo at their choice of partner. Every once in a while though an actual couple would dine here purely for the reason of having a date they “splurged” on.
Michino and Chiyoko were on one such date. For the Toraono it seemed like years ago now since his elder brother revealed the emotionally crippling news that he wasn’t his father. The truth was it had been only a few short months since the incident at the Takashashi household but in that time between the young man had felt like he had finally found his niche in life.
Burning with anger at his brother named Tama the teenager went into the seedy parts of town he used to avoid on purpose to start boxing in the Underground Circuit. By sheer accident he found himself entered into the yearly tournament that was held during the end of the Winter Season. He rose up through the ranks like a virus, taking out one opponent after the other, and now he was set up to take the title of ‘Champion’ in the next few weeks. The other incredibly fortunate thing to happen to him was to have stumbled across someone he never thought to speak to again - Uzumoreru Chiyoko. It had been a month since they started seeing each other in secret but with Michino’s sudden Underground fame the two stopped being as secretive about it. With his notarial talent being high up enough now to be noticed by ANBU there was no way the girl’s father could directly touch either of them without getting a retaliation that they could both clearly see now.
For the large youth it was like a breath of fresh air. He hadn’t seen much of his deranged half-sibling since his birthday and still had no clue as to who his real father was. Even though Tama probably did, for the first time ever, the guy didn’t care. His hands were stretched out on the silk white cloth of the table and holding onto the smaller female’s as he gazed deeply into her golden colored irises. Unlike they're usual dives tonight they were both dressed up for the high-end establishment. Michino had even gone through the lengths to be measured and custom tailored a three-piece plum colored suit with a black tie. Even his feet, which for nearly his entire life had been bare, were covered in socks and dress shoes to match the dining establishment's strict attire rules. Almost ironically on his right ring finger was the gift Tama had given him on his birthday, for it really was a beautiful piece of jewelry.
Tonight was a special night for them both because it was going to be the night that he decided to quit boxing, go back into full on shinobi work, and get his life fully sorted out. In order to start this task of life changing he needed to finish his last match, and in order to do that he needed to get some guilt off his his shoulders.
For the last few months since the blow-out of Tama’s revelation he hadn’t made any motion to contact Sousuke or his family. The emotional wounds, even now, were a little painful and he was quite worried about how the ex-Steward would feel about his little fighting hobby. The teenager was well aware of his mentor’s dislike for the Underground fighting rings and how much he had worked into getting rid of the tournament all together due to the amount of rookie deaths each year. This past year saw a couple but since Toushin took over the death rates dropped dramatically and seemed to focus more on the skill of each opponent once again. Yet still Michino wasn’t sure how the man who had done so much already to give him a better life to see him attempt such seedy corners of their city.
A waiter moved towards their table at his own laid back pace. When he reached the couple’s table the man introduced himself and rattled off the special for the night but Michino only ordered a simple sparkling water with mint. His stomach was in knots at the moment getting ready to attempt and explain everything to the man he looked up to.
