By some miraculous bout of generosity, the company let her take the day off. Yume frowned as she hung upside down from one of the tree branches within the Forest of Death. What a scary name they used, she thought, spinning back to sit upright. There wasn't anything bad in here, as far as she found. But with a name like this, she could be sure that she wouldn't be stalked by fans, or even company employees. They could be overbearing on her wellbeing.
Besides, being out in fresh air was nice. She's been inside buildings way too often.
The frown on her face lightened ever so slightly, but the thoughts were still floating around in her mind. Why did they make her take a day off? There were so many things that needed to be done. For her comeback promotion, for her tour, for her shoots. Even when they do make her take a break, Yume would easily find herself doing some semblance of work. Be it practising her choreography and song, or creating new ones, her path was straight and absolute.
"You ask, don't you take a break? No."
She jumped down from the branch, landing gracefully in the soft grass. Her eyes closed, as her creative process slowly bloomed.
"Aren't you tired? No."
Yume knew that people called her a workaholic. But did that really matter? To her hums and singing, the girl stepped in time with them.
"Why is she doing it that way? Don't like her."
You can't always win with everyone. Doing this, doing that, they just don't like it. If she did the same thing, the criticise. If she changed it up, they criticise.
"Thanks for caring, but take away those bossy hands."
Whatever Yume became, she would be the one to decide it all. Was it so much to ask them to just believe in her, and keep by her side? The first demo of her song ended and Yume stood in her finishing pose, eyes keeping closed until her insides pulled herself together.
