Riku watched the group after the one student explained what was happening, Tsukada, the sennin called him.
“Can’t be too hard,” Riku said with a smile, looking towards Tsukada, “Those two did it.”
How do you get chakra into your feet, Riku thought as he walked up to the water’s edge, testing the water with a single foot, watching it instantly sink, it was cold.
After he pulled the foot out of the water, he looked back at the pair that had already succeeded. Their feet balancing on the water surface, they were keeping a balance to their chakra output, Tsukada said. Riku still had to figure out how to get the chakra to his feet in the first place.
With a deep breath, Riku focused on his feet, trying to will chakra or anything to them. After what felt like almost a minute of just staring at his feet, he felt a tingle. If he’d learned anything, it was to seize a chance.
Riku quickly moved to place his foot on the water surface, feeling some resistance, just a smidge but it was enough to risk it. He leaped at the water, relying on the foot already in place to give him some stability. It did no such thing.
The water pushed at Riku’s foot, wanting to buck and push him. He remembered the other two and how they kept their balance. He leaped to his next foot, abandoning the shaky platform, before realising his chakra had only gone to one foot, the force of his foot hitting the water when he wasn’t prepared flung him face first into the water.
How can anything be this cold, Riku thought to himself, rolling onto his back as he floated on the water surface, spitting the water he’d caught in his mouth up into the air.
“Harder than it looks. He commented.
