Naoki couldn't see the orbs of energy, but she did feel more powerful for some reason. What's... aaah, I doubt I'd be able to figure it out anyway. But this is good! She proceeded with her previous plan, oblivious to the powers in play, and the silver metallic seal that just appeared on the back of her right hand.

She stopped dead in her tracks as she sensed an alarming amount of chakra in the air. She turned her head in the direction of the source, as if able to see the chakra spiraling, but still didn't know what was happening. That's... I think that's Sousuke-sama's older brother. Must have been the one he was calling Kuro... or maybe it's the other one? I'm going to need to get everyone's names down after this. What's he... Is that a sword? It's huge! How can anyone lift that?

She recalled her previous conversation with the Steward, about people who were almost-half-demons, and wondered if she'd just had a conversation with a super high-ranking official who was also an almost-half-demon's brother. Would that make Sousuke-sama an almost-half-demon too? ...Nah, I don't even know for sure if whoever that is really isn't fully human. He could just be really strong for all I know.

Naoki then felt the pain in her chest subside. I feel... a lot better. Is this one of those healing techniques? Who's... She sharpened her hearing, trying to figure out who was healing her, but there weren't any signs that anyone was particularly focused on her. Must be someone I can't see, unless it's this statue standing back here. Whoever it is, thank you! She steeled herself to go through with what she'd planned out.

But it didn't work. She didn't want to go back into the flow of the battle. It did seem like Magnetica was about to lose anyway... there's no reason for her to go back in and receive another attack right? And someone healed her already, she didn't want to let that go to waste. It's not an excuse to bow out, and she wasn't scared or anything. She was most definitely not scared! She just... just didn't want to waste the effort someone had spent to heal her! That's all it was... That's all, she thought, as she picked up the blade she drew from her instrument, preparing to make a break for it.

Her advance on Magnetica had been abruptly stopped as a shard flew towards her and impaled her belly. The piece wasn’t large enough to inflict severe bleeding but the jagged edges pricking her innards was enough to slow her down and push her back a little. Looking down in disbelief, she was surprised by how much it hurt when she breathed but was glad to find that it hadn’t punctured her lung. A glowing light began to descend on her but she swatted at it, attempting to make it leave her alone. The fire had been lit and she was not about to let the villainess escape a second time. Mouko attempted to help her and managed to heal her enough but was dismissed in a similar manner to the chakra. Next to her uncle, CuRua found a place to curl up and licked at his wounds, seeing if he was well and asking what he could do to make him more comfortable. Taking hold of the metal, Yume pulls it from her stomach and presses her fingers in deep, pulling out a blade not made of metal but of blood as she charged forward. Red filled her sight as she zeroed in on her target, keeping her focus away from Sousuke until they were certain the fight was over; she couldn’t risk being inattentive this time. Her strikes would aim solely for Magnetica as she let the vixen take over, snarling in a fashion that was unusual for the normally collected mednin. This was her uncle, her home, and her mate that were being threatened. She was sick of being nice.

Moments before she strikes she breathes in deep, ignoring the pain in her torso, and lets out a bay. In the distance, howls would reply. While she may have no clan, her blood would still speak to the beasts. The iron woman would be familiar with the call as she'd seen it once before during their first encounter; the pack was coming to aid their family.

She was getting weak but so weren't they. She could feel her fortitude leaving her but she would endure. They were almost done, she just needed to hang on a little bit longer. Her toxic cloud dissipated around her, she did not have the time nor the strength to recast her deterrent. Her eyes narrowed into slits as she glared at those who stood in the way of their freedom. Blood was hemorrhaging from Magnetica and Urufu's wounds, with enough time they would bleed out like the pigs they were. In her days not long passed she would relish this time, the rush of watching their pain. It was a pleasure that was near orgasmic to her, but she felt numb in his fray. Almost as if she was in a state of disbelief. While her time with Homura was brief, he had changed her for the better in ways she could not quantify. She did not want to hurt people for a long time but she wanted to hurt them but not because she enjoyed hurting them but because she needed them dead. This was a requirement, not a recreation.

The field was to her benefit, she was not the target of the shinobis yet and they too were starting to weaken. Her anticoagulants were going to drain Magnetica and Urufu dry. Even Magnetica and Urufu had been torn asunder by betrayal, the woman the dog coveted. Perhaps she was his lover or his daughter, whatever she was to him he too had found someone to protect. Magnetica should have subdued her wrath until the battle was over, perhaps then she would not be in this state but rather she had earned the ire of everyone. Foolish woman. The shinobis and the Cabal's dog would complete her work, but the dog and the interloper both needed to go down at the same time. Her hands ran through a series of handseals before a blast of heat and wind erupted setting both her enemies ablaze. The smell of burning flesh and hair was repugnant, she crinkled her nose in response to the familiar and once savory stench.

Magnetica unleashed a pulse of magnetic energy. Naganisa could feel her belt buckle shake violently and her bra-strap snap against the small of her back with a loud series of snaps and cracks. Her necklace broke at the nape of her neck and shot across the room, exposing a deep scar that had long-since healed. She was no stranger to pain and had no fear of death, rather she was a failure at finding her own death as the wound was self-administered long ago. Her weakness and uncertainty was being laid bare, much like the dead when they are left on display. The small blade she carried in her sheath snapped at the tip, the shard of dark metal dug into her thigh. She let out a barely audible grunt, Magnetica's attack was weak and desperate. Magnetica was not going to last much longer, she only needed to hang on a few moments longer than Magnetica.

With her remaining strength and determination her hands went through another series of handseals. She bit her lower lip and held it between her teeth she tried to taint Urufu once again. He appeared to be the strongest of the remaining combatants and she needed to knock him down to her level if she was going to have a chance. Her knees were shaking but she was not going to go down easily. She was almost there. She was almost free. "You won't take me alive!" She screamed, her vision blurry as her attack hit Urufu. His blood would flow from him like water in a creek. His time is limited butso was hers.

Naganisa continued her assault as she watched with sick satisfaction as Magnetica fell. Serves her right</I><I>. Naganisa focused on Urufu and Sousuke with her poisonous cloud, they were her greatest threats. She could feel her vitality leaving her with each and every attack. She was getting tired, wild and desperate with the passing seconds that now felt like minutes. Hot blood was pouring down her arms and under her shirt, soaking the tattered remains of her garments. It was getting hard to breathe. She tried to remain standing but her legs felt like jelly. She swayed for a moment, an unconscious attempt to maintain her balance as her knees buckled. She knew she was going down, she only had time to do one thing: say good-bye. Homura... darling... RUN she whispered. The room went dark before she even hit the ground.She was aware of everything until her knees crashed onto the stone floor. So close... so close... I am sorry Homura darling I really did try.

The pair of them traitors. This was why she never teamed up with anyone, she was not meant to be a cohort... she was meant to be the leader. She was stronger, faster and smarter than the lot of them. It took an entire village to take her down last time. This time they have a rag-tag bunch of kids and the semi-retarded fellow that leads the village. The lacked only the capacity but the competence to take her down. They were going to war with paper swords and foam bullets,actually if they were things would have been safer for them.

The mongrel's pet finally made her move, she flicked blood at Magnetica. What did she think she was doing? Giving her hepatitis, talk about playing for the long game! She did not expect the blood to burn as it had, she could feel her body fight something off. Playing the game of the snake it would seem. No matter, once she took out the big ones she would break the children. She released a powerful pulse of magnetic energy. Didn't any of them learn anything from their last battle. She controlled everything, the earth's gravitational forces and the very metallic ore in the earth, on their bodies and in their weapons everything was under her purview and everything would shatter in accordance with her command. The Kage's weapons fragmented as did the snake-bitch, the dog was a brute so there was nothing to break.

She let out a deep guffaw as the Steward imbued his weapon with a powerful attack and tried to take her down. It was not that the attack was ineffective, it was just less effective than it would have been coming from his hands. His love of the theater would be his downfall. As his attack sliced into her she realized that it was uneffected by her insult. A vehement wheeze escaped through her barely parted lips as her eyes opened wide with shock and dismay. She was felled AGAIN. By these people!

If I can just...

Naoki rolled and dashed between the pieces of rubble that may serve to block her presence from Magnetica, hoping to escape her detection. But it wasn't happening. She could still sense Magnetica moving, keeping track of who's where. Naoki eventually stopped, opting to just observe what little remained of the battle unfold. In her last moments of consciousness, Magnetica seemed to just grasp at straws as she was taken down. The final blow was dealt, Magnetica was defeated. But what was this sense of dissatisfaction? It didn't bother her all that much, the relief was overwhelming. It's over... It's over!

Which was why Naganisa lashing out once more at Urufu surprised Naoki. Wait... Weren't we all just attacking Magneti...ca...? Her thoughts slowed as she tried to make sense of what these people's actions even meant. She was far enough away to remain irrelevant to any attacks, and continued observing as the next shocking developments occurred.

Five wolves came rushing in, still attacking Magnetica to make sure she stayed down. Well... I guess I'd do something like that too if I could, it'd be really bad if she got back up and ran away after all. It seemed like the wolves had strong ties with Yume. She tried to take her attention off that though. It didn't sit well with her, staying still while someone was mauled.

Urufu moved on to strike Sanryokougan Kuro after his own beat-the-unconscious-villain barrage, and connected with a somewhat squelchy noise. It made Naoki a little queasy. Urufu then seemed to display signs of discomfort himself, and though Naoki couldn't tell, it was because his surroundings were being enveloped with Poison Mist. The Steward and Yume close by were affected as well and showed that, but despite the poison, the former was able to dodge Urufu's next attack.

The towering Toraono however, was not.

There was a sickening crunch, making Naoki wince visibly and take a step back. Sanryokougan Kuro was knocked out. Naoki clapped her hand to her mouth as she felt a wave of nausea come and go. Ugh... A convenient piece of rubble nearby helped her stay upright.

She wanted to rush in there, see if there was anything she could do for them, but her body didn't budge. I shouldn't go in now, right? There's something I'm missing. A sign, or, or something else I need to pay attention to, right? Luckily for her conscience, there was. Something told her that if she went over there, she'd be in significantly more danger than she already was, and that something was Urufu and the nearby Yume being adversely affected by the Poison Mist.

But I can't just stand around here and wait... Someone's down- Another wave of nausea as she recalled the unpleasant noise. I need to stop remembering that. But I have to get them to stop this, it won't help anyone if any more people are hurt!

"S-stop... We don't... have to fight... any more." Her voice was weak, hand feebly stretched out in front of her to get anyone's attention. It wouldn't reach anyone at this distance. What could she do?

Yume was his special person, the one person he would protect to the death. He would betray his friends, allies and masters for her sake and without her even asking. He was not a man of many principles, his feral nature had done him well over the decades. The betrayer-snake cast a blast of heated wind that set him aflame, the sour stench of scorched hair wafted through the air. Magnetica's powerful magnetic field pulses through the battleground, only the iron in his veins rattled. "I will break you," a guttural growl escaped Urufu's lips as he gave his hand the quality of tempered steel and raked his nails across Magnetica's face. She sparked from within, but he never suffered a jolt as his wrist snapped away and he backpeddled his feet in time for the recreant Steward stole his kill. It did not trouble him as he had alternative prey.

The snake, nearly down for the count still had some bite left in her. She could barely stand but here she was still trying to out up a fight. He had to take down the cat and end this rivalry first. "Back to where we started," Urufu huffed. Blood was pouring from his wounds making the world a shade of crimson. "You have honored me with your combat," Urufu announced as he made what he thought was a finishing blow. Urufu flickered from sight only momentarily only to reemerge in front of his chosen target, he had struck him completely but he did not slice through him. Astonishing durability.

The snake tried again to taint his blood as the air grew sour, much like the bitter metallic taste in his mouth. Urufu coughed his lungs clear and tried to take shallow breaths, it hurt to breathe the air now. He had to try again, he had to take everyone else down or he would be a dead-man. He took on the trespasses of a weaker man's heart and imbued the unclean nature into his fist and unleashed an attack meant to wipe out all of his opponents. The cat was taken out, finally. There was a smile, a strange look of satisfaction that was painted across his face that quickly grew dim. There was a small part of him that enjoyed this violence, the sadism was something he shared but hated about his clansmen but in that moment he realized it was not the pain he inflicted but the challenge he savored. With the cat down there was nobody for the dog to chase.

The air became thicker with the snake's venom. He had no time to ponder the mysteries of his own heart. He needed to rescue Yume still from the fiend. His attack was wild, not calculated and unlike him - a foot to the face rather than a claw to the heart. "Yume, I got this. GET TO THE SURFACE NOW!" Urufu demanded. He was not going to hold out much longer, his will to save her was all that was keeping him standing now. "YOU'RE FREE!" An accomplishment Urufu thought. He saw Sunagakure differently than those inside, but it is hard for a privileged group to even realize their status. Sunagakure was guilty of a great many trespasses, not that the Cabal was innocent as well. There would be many deaths still in the war that was coming, Sunagakure's reign was coming to a close.

Kaito​

It was far enough to the escape tunnel to cause a sense of apprehension. Precious time was ticking away and he might be willing to give his life for the cause but he was not willing to be buried alongside them. He bit down hard on he fag between his yellow stained teeth as he dashed down the forgotten corridors of the Toraono Dojo. This event was months in the making, Akio had been planting bombs for months and the false rubble of the 'un-repaired passage' readied for their escape. He checked his wrist, less than 5 minutes remained. Hopefully the others already found their way to the surface.

The sounds of battle were unmistakable, the clash of iron and the crack of bone reverberated through the empty corridors. Who were his men slaughtering now, they did not have time for games. He came in time to see the end-result of in-fighting. Urufu was the last somewhat-man standing among his allies, he had taken out Naganisa and Magnetica was already bleeding all over the floor. "The fuck," Kaito announced in an authoritative tone. "You don't settle your disputes on the field,"</B><i></i> he scolded. His voice was devoid of anger but it carried a sharp tone. this as not the first blood-bath he witnessed between members. They were sadists and monsters, each and every one of them but scuffles such as these are bad for morale and bad for business. "Pick up your sisters... we are done here," he ordered.

It was then that he noticed an important quarry. The Steward Kazekage in the flesh. "While you have been arse over tit fighting with your colleges, you have left our target standing,"</B><i></i> Kaito complained, his voice filled with exasperation. His hand cupped his eye-patch as he shook his head back and forth. He let out a sigh, "I hate doing this to you after surviving two mediocre members... if you were not my target mate I'd ask you to work with me." His hand peeled back the patch that covered his eye, a scar ran vertical over the eye and the lid hidden beneath. It was the eye of an Uchiha, a trinket he picked up some time ago. It was a bodge job really, the scar was made in the field. He should have had a doctor do it, but patience was a virtue he always did lack.

Sometimes he hated his job, today was one of those days. He wished the Kage remained lost in the desert or buried beneath the thousands of tons of sand and earth that would soon cover the denizens of his subterranean community. "Everyone here has my permission to flee... everyone except the Steward. Failure to comply will result in your execution." He warned.

Urufu

<B>"K-Kaito," Urufu stammered. He was not the big boss, but he was a boss. Someone that does not take no for an answer. A dissatisfied rumble could be heard in his throat. "NO!" Urufu shouted defiantly. "Naganisa betrayed us, she was taking that man with her out of the village and Magnetica..."<i></i> he paused as his mind raced to formulate a lie. "She tried to seal us inside. She was going to betray us and I stopped her,"<i></i> he lied. what would the others say? Claim he was lying, defend the woman he just helped them take down, defend the traitors in their own ranks. Naganisa had one of their own with her. It was a poorly calculated risk, Urufu was not a strategist but he knew Yume was loyal to the clan and would likely be willing to lie if she was willing to assist him in combat against her peers.

<B>"I am going to kill them both!" Urufu announced. His was out of line with his commander but he did not care. These shinobis did not have the fortitude to stop him and even if they did he was slaughtering their enemies as well. Urufu's first action(s) next round will be to -try- to FORCE KILL Naganisa and Magnetica.

Kaito​

Kaito raised is brow at Urufu's insolent attitude. It was very much unlike him, the calm, powerful demeanor he used to carry was altered. He was rash, angry and seeking a kill for the sake of a kill. He did not have time to debate the subject. The years had worn enough away from his soul that there was barely a sliver remaining. What could he do, what could anyone do to stop the bloodshed. Traitors had to be stopped. Dangerous communities such as Sunagakure had to be subjugated or destroyed and that was just the way of the terrible world they lived in. "Do as you must," Kaito waved "we do not have time for this."

"I warned you what would happen if you forced my hand Kaito."

The normally still air of the cavern whipped into a sudden frenzy of howling gusts as the newly empowered Katsuo arrived on scene, hot on Kaito's heels. He had never been far behind to begin with but still was he was dismayed that the Cabal leader had beaten him to the battlefield. He'd hoped to have put this battle to rest before Kaito arrived. Still... everyone was in one place now. It made things real simple. Without his coat, bolts of ruthless lightning danced up and down Katsuo's exposed arms and shoulders threatening to burn away the green tank top that he was wearing. At the edges it burned and singed with each passing jolt of lightning but he paid that no heed. He could replace his clothing at his leisure at a later date. Even his coat which carried some very expensive seal work and materials was far from his mind as he steeled his mind.

The cavern ceiling was high -- too high to see it in the darkness without proper lighting -- but if those gathered could see it then they would have seen the most uncanny of sights. There in the highest reaches of the cavern hundreds of feet above where they were fighting were gathering storm clouds likes of which the underground city of Sunagakure had not seen since the city had been sunk into the cavern which had become it's tomb. The preternatural winds which whirled around the immediate area were the only sign that something strange was happening in the air above them but the temperature in the air was beginning to rapidly drop as well as the change in the cave's atmosphere was affected by Katsuo's growing ire.

"If I were less of a man I would tell you that you aren't giving me a choice. But even now, I still have one before me. I can choose to let you carry out your vengeance. Or, in the face of all of this, I can choose to persevere and protect my ideals along with those that are important to me." As if to accentuate Katsuo's point, the up-until-now invisible clouds in the gloom overhead rumbled ominously with an accompanying series of bright flashes. "As I man, I choose to stop you. Just like you can choose not to pick this fight. I'm only going to ask one last time. Stand down and come to the table or I will drag you there kicking and screaming."

He didn't reach for Tatsumasa just yet. He didn't need to. With the brewing storm overhead, Katsuo felt confident he would not need to draw the sacred blade. It was a sword that had been forged to protect humanity -- not wielded in civil war and he did not intend to stain it's blade with the blood of men. Somehow that felt like it would be a betrayal of the legacy that he was trying now to accept as his own. Turning his head, Katsuo spared the few Sand-nin who were standing a glance. Kuro was under. Two shinobi he didn't recognize, Sousuke -- who was not looking well -- and a kid. She looked like she'd seen her way through the thick of things and was holding on as admirably as could be expected but in a fight like this things were just too dangerous. He couldn't fight to his limits if he knew he might be endangering others in the process and there was just no way he could guarantee such a young person's safety in the maelstrom he was planning to unleash if Kaito and Urufu chose not to heed his warning.

"Sousuke. Get our people to safety. I'll take care of this." Katsuo then turned his attention back to Kaito and Urufu and his eyes warped and changed. They glowed with the same thunderous energy that suffused his muscles and in that instant the air around them began to smell distinctly of ozone.

Naganisa, she had come so far from a psychotic woman who saw everything as meat to fill with holes, to someone who was trying to change, escaping with him to become a better person and set things right. He had played her like a record, and she sang his favorite tune. The ANBU would most certainly let him run their operation if they saw how clever he had been, but someone had set the bombs off, making his groundwork moot. There was a chance that, had she made it out of this fight still standing, she would have had a chance to murder the cabal and save just as many lives as what could transpire here. He would also be lying if he said he hadn't developed feelings for his mark, the all to cliche spy story.

His body and mind however, where physically exhausted and even though he had a reprieve from the fight, it wasn't over and was still going on around him. It was a tactical move to make himself small long enough to catch his breath so he and Naganisa would be the last ones standing, however as his wounds healed as fast as he had displayed to Naganisa more than once, she went down. Magnetica went down to, and Sousuke miraculously survived the onslaught put upon him. There was a calm rage in the air, everything for him froze as they all yelled about. Urufuu yelling to Yume to leave, the kid frozen in fear, and then the fresh face of Kaito appearing, a Cabal member he didn't have the joy to meet. He had an eye patch, which he'd remove to reveal a gross sharingan, he would quickly avert his gaze direct at it. He knew about those things after a rather heated card game in his youth, where a Uchiha was manipulating everyone at the table to bid high with bad cards. He wasn't a player, but a bodyguard for one of the players at the table.

Urufu expressed his displeasure in Naganisa's loyalty and would most certainly go for her, so he made a bold and quick move to get inbetween the two of them. He wouldn't let her die like that. When they first arrived he would have probably let the guy, but this was different, needed to be handled different. He'd deflect whatever Urufuu had coming, he didn't care about Magnetica, so if Urufuu switched targets after then he'd let that go. Sweeping Naganisa up in his arms, he'd jump out of the immediate area, escaping the fight with her. Once at a safe distance, he'd lay her head in his lap, running his fingers through her hair. Tears would begin to form in his eyes. She was beaten badly, and would most certainly bleed out on the way to the surface. So he took the dagger from her and forced her hand around it, holding his sword with the other hand to her throat and would guide her hand to her gut, applying just enough pressure to slip it into her, and slide it across and if he wasn't stopped, his own sword would find its way into her neck, seperating her head from her shoulders. He would help her commit seppuku, the surefire way to restore your honor among his people, his final gift for a woman who had meant more to him than anyone else in a long, long time. Hopefully whatever god she believed in would claim her now, and take good care of her in the afterlife.

Regardless of if it worked or not, he would stand tall among those left standing, and those just arriving and talk directly to Kaito.

"If any of you survive, tell Akio we'll meet again if he makes it out, and this time he's mine." he bolstered, turning and heading toward the exit to help the faceless Sunagakure nin evacuate folks and to get healed and get out himself.

Shade had a very limited way of helping Sousuke. While it was Mikaboshi who could ultimately do more, Shade still could take action. The great black specter expanded his spiritual form, his great black cloak reached out and grabbed the Steward as Magentica's attack was going to land. Darkness grasped the Steward and cloaked him. The darkness than had grasped at Sousuke seemingly phased out of existence for a slight moment. A moment later the darkness returned and Sousuke emerged. Shade of course could not protect Sousuke from the rest of the attacks that came his way from Nagasani and Urufuu. Sousuke had requested that combat ceased. Neither complied. Yet Nagasani would go unconscious as would Magentica and Kuro.

The Steward dropped Skull Splitter, the bleeding weapon had tasted Magentica's flesh. The weapon landed hard digging itself into the ground. Sousuke's hand was burnt from wielding the weapon. He was not worthy to wield this foreign terror. Skull Splitter continued to bleed endlessly. It had tasted the flesh of a foe who once had bested Sousuke. The weapon stood there in the ground, it had served its purpose. Stop Magentica. Shade's eyes narrowed at the weapon as to him it glowed with malice and ill will. It was accepting of what was deemed to be the flesh of a mighty foe. Perhaps the weapon would grow accepting of Sousuke? A dangerous and disturbing thought. Those of the Blood Court were violent and primal like an untamed Inuzuka.

Urufuu struck Sousuke, but it wasn't enough. The Steward returned with a look of sorts. It was an empty and dead look. He told Yume to run. "Fool." Urufuu worked so hard to save Yume. Even if she got out she had to deal with the diamond sands. Sousuke had been subjected to overexposure before. The Steward's face plate mask began to click and trace back. He removed it from his face and threw it at Yume. "The storm is still going to hurt Yume. Do as your relative says and flee. My breather will stop diamond sand exposure. Go to Deadline. Tell Prime Diamund and Okibi what happened here." The Steward's eyes were blank. There was a sort of deadness in them. Was this a corpse talking? Or was this someone who simply refused to perish. As he said this Kaito had emerged. This was going to be his terminal failure. "I wish I had more time with you Yume, but it doesn't look like I will have such. Your relative took out Kuro, I cannot trust him enough to believe he will let him live. I have to prevent Kuro from having a terminal failure."</B><i></i> As he finished he drew the Ebon Blade. Shade could sense a sort of deathly calmness. It would seem as if his pact would come to its conclusion. Mikaboshi would be freed, and so would he. Yet ... he was Mikaboshi was he not?

Surprisingly Kaito offered what seemed to be a compliment of sorts. The Steward would stare back at Kaito. The same deadness in his darkened eyes. There was an emptiness. "I have endured a cease function due to corruption in the lungs from diamond sands. I have endured my family being heavily damaged. I have endured enemies of the moral insanity, and of cataclysmic potential. I have been swallowed by the earth and seen what I cannot understand. I will endure you."<i></i> Sousuke simply said. "I will do as my father did, his father before him, and his father thrice before him. I will protect the realm. I am the host, and a good host will stop death as possible."<i></i> The voice was harsh and metallic. While Sousuke's soul was not present, his heart was. His heart was his greatest strength. Urufuu made his movement forward, and Sousuke did in turn. "Cease your destructive functions."<i></i>

Before Sousuke could move forward, Katuso had emerged. The Kazekage proper, whether he liked being so or not. It would seem that had followed Kaito here? Sousuke was told to get people to safety. Katuso was older than him... and certainly it seemed he had grown greatly in power. Get to safety. The words rung in the Steward's mind. "I should be protecting you... not you protecting me." Sousuke would say at first. He smelled the ozone, and sensed something above them. The smell was sharp. "No one dies. Not even you Katuso."

The Steward turned to Naoki. <B>"Naoki. Fall back. Follow Yume to Deadlines. I will summon Ken to help you if I can--"<i></i> It was then that Homura was moving in line. This was a part of the chess board he momentarily forgot. He didn't doubt Katuso's ability, merely his combat awareness. After all ... Katuso needed Sousuke's help.

The hounds descended after her mate had landed a critical blow but she made no motion to stop them. Instead she stood and watched the hounds nip and snarl, ensuring that her nemesis stayed down. Through the chaos she heard the shout of a child begging for everything to stop. The scream brought her out of her feral state to take account of what was around her. Three had fallen: One crippled and was being held in her lover’s arms begging for death, one was surrounded by wolves, and one had fallen at the hand of her uncle. She should be mad that he had taken out one of her allies but his continued health trumped any misgivings. His words urged her toward the surface but everything was in slow motion; a buzz of noise rather than full words. She looked over her shoulder, readying a response but her words didn’t come. He was crippled by the poison, as they all were, and his motions were flawed as they caught her mate. Once more, she should have been upset but she had seen Sousuke take worse and as much as she wanted to turn on her family now for the offence she knew that it would be like chasing a rattlesnake after being bit. The venom would take hold unless you sought a doctor.

Her wordless contemplations were disrupted when Sousuke’s breather landed in her hands, her fingers taking hold out of instinct. His eyes haunted her but she refused to tear her gaze away from his features. He was sickly, not just in body but in spirit, and it pained her heart to see him this way. Everyone had taken a hit at the hands of the Cabal in one way or another. She wanted to argue, to protest that her place was here at his side, but it wasn’t. Her place was being complementary to his actions and as a canine that meant playing fetch. Her two targets were close enough that she was able to manage what she wanted. Urufu’s attention was pulled in the direction of a man Yume had never met but she only needed to use her uncle as a block. Walking behind him, she placed her hand on his back and gave him a boost that would stem his bleeding, hopefully out of sight from his ‘allies’, and then carried on to Sousuke.

There wasn’t much time for an intimate moment but the battle had descended to discussion and she would take advantage of the reprieve. Leaning up, she places her hands on her mate’s chest and feels her chakra transfer to heal his physical wounds as her lips meet his in an attempt to remedy some of his spiritual aches.

You’d better come back to me alive. I will never forgive you if you die.

Glancing over her shoulder, she scowls briefly to Kaito and then gives her uncle a look of disgust for effect. Her tone would mirror the look but she hoped that her words would be understood by her clansman.

The same goes for you. Come back to me alive… and if you let him die, I will kill you myself.

Her words were harsh but their honesty would hold her true meaning. It wasn’t that she cared for him any less but Sousuke was her mate and her first priority. His role in her life made him part of the clan. Turning, she takes a few steps to stand beside Homura and Naganisa. She felt nothing but contempt for her and a slight dislike of him but she saw love between them and that was worth something to her. She had spent the past month in solitude mourning her love while these two had found it in battle. She remembered their first meeting and was surprised that they were so bound after such a short time. Resting her hand on Homura's wrist, she looks up at him as her other rests on Naganisa's head and imbues her with healing chakra.

Get her out. If we are able to meet up above, I will heal her further. There is no reason to despair.

Clamping the breather over her face, she gestures to CuRua who lets out a howl and the wolves flee down the tunnel with them. Around the bend, she stops to catch her breath and looks down at her friend.

Yes you can. You’ll distract him, you’ll distract both of them if you’re there.

And what about Shinji? Ika? Shuu? Uri? Olgav? Haru? What about our village? The message got out but will they come?

You can’t save everyone, Yume. You can only save those who put the effort in to move towards safety. Your place will be to heal those who make it. NOW, WE’RE GOING.

His teeth snapped at her ankles in a show of force, refusing to let her think this one to the point of paralysis. It was a matter of the heart, and while he knew that it was selfish to want her alive, it was also what the two men fighting behind them wanted as well, at least in part. Taking the hint she was off again with the pack in tow until she reached the surface. Keeping to the inside of the exit, she hides in an alcove and digs her heels in. This was where she would wait for Sousuke.

Retreating from a Battle:
It is foolish to fight a battle that cannot be won, and at times it may not even be worth the effort or risk to fight in a winnable battle. Sometimes an individual just may not want to fight, just plain and simple. Whichever may be the case, running from a battle can be done by anyone, and only requires putting distance between you, and your would-be opponent. Stealth isn't even particularly required if there are traps or other fighters around to intercept any pursuers, but retreating through stealth is the most efficient method to escaping any battles without leaving any trails. Just like entering a battle however, retreating takes time and can be risky.

Exiting a battle:

• Takes 3 full rounds. If a player attempts to flee after Round 1, they are involved in battle until the end of Round 4
• A player must not suffer more than 25% of their maximum HP during these 3 rounds.
• A player may use any Non-Offensive techniques they have to help them escape. (Non-Offensive techniques are any techniques that are not initiating an attack at a target in an attempt to harm the target in some way.)
• If the running player uses an offensive action they no longer count as running.
• If a player is in Stealth (must be in stealth to all actively chasing the runner) only take 2 full rounds to leave a battle while running, but only if they maintain stealth for the allotted time.

Magnetica​

The battle raged on. There was nothing more that Magnetica could do. She no longer dreamed, when she closed her eyes she only saw the black walls of her cell. That hell that she had no desire to escape, the cell was her only safety from the others. Her energies being sapped away, she life dangling just above to brink of death. That was where they sent those who wronged them. Her liberation and her vengeance were both short-lived but she could rest easy now knowing that it took an entire village to fell her a second time. She would return again. Their morality and idealism demanded it. She would fester again in that hell, she would get out again one day "rehabilitated" or the happy benefit of another incident. She has learned from her mistakes and she will not make them again.

Naganisa​

She needed to wake back up. This was the fight of their life. Freedom was only a few meters away. Rest... that is what she was experiencing now. REST. She had nothing better to do. No, wait. She did. Why couldn't she move? Why couldn't she get up? Why couldn't she feel a thing? Everything felt so heavy and she was just so tired. But she needed to snap out of it! Homura needed her and she needed him. She knew not Homura's change of heart or Urufu's mal-intent or even Kaito's indifference in her fate. Nobody loved her, how could they. She was unimportant. Irrelevant. Unworthy of happiness. It was something she always knew in the depth of her heart, but at least now she could die thinking that it might have been untrue.

Urufu​

"I will make this quick" Urufu assured Kaito as he went in for the kill. Naganisa's lover was waiting for him. "Get out of my way!" Urufu snapped. His niece was angry, one day he might be able to make amends but not on this day, survival is what mattered now. His fur was matted with blood and each moment his body convulsed with pain. Naganisa's toy just had to get in his way. He did not have time to counter, to knock the gnat away. He did not even see the attack, only the brewing storm overhead. A hundred-thousand volts of pure electrical energy surged through his body. His arms contracted and his teeth bit down on his tongue. The arcing current escaped his body and found refuse in the floor but not before his insides were burned.

His smoking form fell to the ground in a motionless heap. He could fight no more.

Kuro's mind drifted between pain and rage as he burned the blood limits of three of his bodies to save Suna and its people he felt his Sanryoukyougan side and his Mouko side fall in battle, had it just been a one on one duel he would have fared far better but the chaos of true battle never let anyone choose how they would fall. He remembered the Inuzuka warrior striking him down but that was neither here nor there Sousuke was burning his own body and the remnants of his soul for power he could not let his little brother die. He was down but his healing factor should be able to keep up. Something else had to be occurring for his bodies not to simply heal. He could break his spiritual link with them but that would place them in danger of true destruction. Akuma Kuro decided it best he summon the fallen bodies away and repair them away from others so that his brother could at least fight to his full ability. Knowing him he was trying to protect his broken forms and taking even more damage.

Sousuke would feel his arms free of weight soon...

if allowed I will summon my broken bodies away so that Sousuke can survive.
Elsewhere near the tunnel entrance Akuma Kuro began to draw upon his darkside for power yet again as he summoned Hyakujuuonouu's bound form to promote healing while he began the summoning process to retrieve his broken bodies.

Kaito​

His ranks were at each others throats. It was an unfortunate product of war, it breaks families apart and fills the world with young widows. Urufu was going to take out Naganisa and Magnetica, it was only a matter of time. There was no changing his mind once it had been made, much like changing society. The strong always subjugate the weak. Sunagakure was meant to be in service of Wind Country, but when was the last time a shinobi made their way into the capital? Intervened in the plight of the nomadic tribes that scrape for their existence. Sunagakure had been complacent with the decline of Wind Country, they were in part responsible for many of the tragedies and it had been his life's duty to undo the many they have wronged by their lack intervention.

"I warned you what would happen if you forced my hand Kaito."</B><i></i>

"The"truly errant Kazekage," Kaito announced. Kaito made it his business to know these things. He was not a hunter without reason or inquiry. This "Kazekage" part deux had made his entry in a rather dramatic fashion, clouds rolled in overhead. It was said that the Sunahoshi family has control over the maelstrom, so power over storms of many kinds was not a shock but it was not an anticipated portion of his skill set. It never mentioned this in the Oracle's manuscripts, and it was doubtful that Fuu was anything short of comprehensive. The storm erupting overhead was an impressive display of strength one could say, but hardly a Sunahoshi skill. "I have already won. Don't you see that kid? I broke your tower, I terrorized your village and then I blew it up. Does it truly take this long to force your hand? "<i></i> He let out a laugh. The kid was powerful, he would give him that. Hell, he'd even admit that the kid had some juice. Talk was cheap and the kid was cocky. He let out a sigh, this was not going to end well for the kid.

"If I were less of a man I would tell you that you aren't giving me a choice. But even now, I still have one before me. I can choose to let you carry out your vengeance. Or, in the face of all of this, I can choose to persevere and protect my ideals along with those that are important to me."<i></i>

The storm brewing overhead crackled with electrical energy. "As I man, I choose to stop you. Just like you can choose not to pick this fight. I'm only going to ask one last time. Stand down and come to the table or I will drag you there kicking and screaming."<i></i>

Kaito let out a laugh. "I like your bluster boy, it is a shame..." His image already transformed into something not quite human. "But I have never been one to leave things half done."<i></i> The Steward Kazekage was trying to get away, taking to the shadows and scraping his allies from the floor. He barreled across the space and decked Sousuke, a force sufficient to take a lesser man down and he looked worse for the wear. He appreciated the fact that the young leader stood still, despite his obvious and grievous wounds but he would not survive a second assault.

<B>"Sousuke. Get our people to safety. I'll take care of this."

That seemed to be his intent as a current of electricity crackled and arched. The twisting bolt of energy struck the dog down where he stood. The scent of charred fur wafted trough the air and he was down... in a single strike. It was true that Urufu was bleeding badly, but he was not the kind of mongrel that would be easily taken down. "You just made this worth my time, kid." The Steward could wait, he would finish what he started in a minute. A massive tendril of darkness emerging from his body in order to stab at Katsuo, but in a puff of smoke Katuo was gone and this shadow broke through an ordinary log. Kaito's eyes brightened at this revelation, the corners of his mouth upturned. "Nice one kid." He called out as he followed up with his fists. His sweeping strike was intended for not one but two targets. There was a Medic on the field, if that was in fact her vocation or simply an inherent skill it was irrelevant. Putting someone down did nobody any good if they did not remain that way. Between healing his target and making her rounds to the fallen, he would going to need to put her down with the rest of them if he hoped for anyone to stay dead.

Sousuke's cloaking field worked partially. Still though Kaito was capable of detecting him. Soon enough even Urufuu was not able to detect him. Sousuke retrieved Kuro's bodies and expanded the cloaking field. He had to get Kuro out of here. Sousuke did not wish to abandon Katuso, but Katuso did out rank him as Kazekage proper. The Steward had to close his eyes momentarily as a bright flash of chakra went off. Urufuu was struck by the might of a Sunahoshi. His body was burnt black as it hit the floor. The Steward's eyes narrowed. This was Yume's relative. The man who struck Kuro down.

The Steward next went to collect Urufuu. Should his unconscious self be left here, it was quite possible that he would be destroyed utterly. He reached out and grabbed the Cabal agent. He could easily snap his neck. He could have impaled him. No. Urufuu would live. This is what Sousuke would do for Yume. "Naoki we're leaving. Wrap your arms around my neck."<i></i> He would phase shift and appear in front of her. He lowered himself down for her to grab on. The Steward paused once more. Homura was trying to take the life of his partner. If it wasn't for her, Suna wouldn't have had this chance to escape. One more. The Steward could evacuate one more person. If anything he would be known as an honourable foe. "One more."<i></i> The Steward carried one of Kuro's bodies on his shoulder, the other underneath. Urufuu was being dragged. The Steward (assuming Naoki would grab on) would phase shift to Nagasani next to pick her up. He would place her over other shoulder, and grab Urufuu by the scruff of his transformed state's neck. "Hold on."<i></i>

Fall... back?

It didn't take much more than the realisation that the Steward had just told her to remove herself from a dangerous situation to get Naoki to haul it on out of there. He said it, so he must be able to handle things here right? The new guy isn't much then, is he?

Even as she turned tail and ran, now oblivious by choice to the rest of the battle, she could tell her thoughts were mistaken. One read was all it took to understand Kaito was no ordinary new guy. Even Urufu, who had taken someone down earlier, had a more nervous timbre to his tone when addressing him. Oh, so he didn't really turn to our side, he was just getting back at Magnetica... That's why everyone was still attacking him? But I thought... She shook her head, clearing it. He might've just been lying anyway, it's not like I can tell.

In any case, it looked like the other new guy was even less ordinary. Were those... clouds up there? Before she ran, Naoki snapped her fingers a few times, and clapped a couple more, to dispel what she thought was her misunderstanding, but it appeared there really were storm clouds rolling above the one opposing Kaito. It seems like Sousuke-sama knows him. Katuso? Haven't heard that name before...

Just as she thought his name, she heard his voice again, though she wasn't exactly sure where it came from. "Naoki we're leaving. Wrap your arms around my neck."

Neck? Won't that make it hard to breathe? "O-okay!" After a quick scan, she was able to determine the Steward's location, along with several others he was carrying, (which made Naoki's eyebrows rise above and beyond) and clambered onto his back, careful not to clutch too tight. In whispers, she asked, "Sorry I couldn't move faster Sousuke-sama, are you okay? I have some health pills, do you want them?" If accepted, she'd take them out and help him recover, otherwise she'd nod and remain silent as the escape attempt was made.

As the Steward moved to pick Naganisa up, she noted that she couldn't sense the one who was with her anywhere. I thought they were close, but it looks like the other one left... Adults are hard to understand.

The events of the battle replayed in her head, and she found herself thinking, for the 24th time that day, how much training was in her future if she was ever to help protect Sunagakure from threats like these.

Katsuo did not banter back with Kaito. That wasn't his way. At this point, he had tried words and they had failed him. Anything else he needed to be said would be done so with thunder and wrath as it seemed as if that was the only language that Kaito would be willing to listen to. He'd already been forced to drop Urufu after the wolf elder had made an attempt on the life of one of the unconscious participants of the fight. He'd hoped that with that display of power, Kaito might be less willing to throw himself into a battle against him but it seemed like the muscle that he'd flex only fueled the Cabal leader's bloodlust.

Kaito hadn't been focusing his attacks solely on Katuso. In his onslaught the prodigal Sunahoshi had been the focal point of those attacks but there'd also been periphery attacks as well. Attacks that Katsuo couldn't hope to stop if he was going to win this fight. Kaito was skilled, easily as much as Saiga or himself, and the demonic visage that he'd donned seem to accentuate that fact... to say nothing of the Sharingan eye that he'd unveiled. In many ways, Katsuo was up against an opponent that fought the same way he did -- relying on insight and prediction to gain an upper hand over his opponents. He needed to make sure that Kaito's attention was purely on him and not on his allies. He trusted Sousuke to evacuate the wounded and the more vulnerable targets but until he did there was just no way that Katsuo could go all out against Kaito. In the mean time, he'd have to do his best.

Raising his hand to the "sky", the thunderhead which loomed above answered his call with thunderous exuberance and once more filled the dark cavern with a salvo of bright flashes. With Caliburn guiding his instinct, his body and heart understood what was necessary to do what he was doing even if his mind did not. The lightning that was currently crying out overhead among the dark clouds was present in his heart as much as it was in the atmosphere and that made those clouds as much a part of him as his hands or his eyes. Coming to his summons, the sky bared it's fangs as several lances of white-hot lightning exploded forth from the clouds looking to find their mark in Kaito. They were mundane blasts of lightning -- much as lightning could ever truly be mundane, really -- so they did not possess the raw stopping power of the lightning spear that Katsuo had used to put down Urufu but like the process of drawing breath, calling them down to attack Kaito had been as reflexive as simply breathing.

His knuckles still crackling with lightning chakra, Katsuo let his right hand fall to his side before he rushed forward to meet his foe head on -- hoping to keep Kaito's attention long enough for Sousuke to get everyone clear.
